In 2005 Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) put out a compilation of student bands called 'How to Mend a Broken Pier'. On it was a band called Supersmile led by Simon Kaye. I think we may have tracked down Simon to Melbourne and have included a 2018 track from him. There's a 1966 band called Monks who literally created holes in their hair. There's a track from Lady Blackbird - in the highest echelon of soul singers in the world. And what is the link between Galaxy and Baby-D? This will end. But not until 7pm..

State of Independence

After Bastille Day on Friday and its rallying cry, ‘Liberté, égalité, fraternité, we sometimes forget that true independence is all three of these qualities, not one. The hermit’s cave on the mountain may look independent, but is a little bleak. When the head of an indie label signs an act it means that they have committed to them 100%.

When an artist signs, they are choosing a community that believes in them and are in for the long haul.We need people who understand us. Who treat us as equals. Whose trust in us gives us real freedom.

Today we play music that understands that real freedom is found in the company of others.
