#25 - The Business Episode, 1
Jenn Pilotti and Jereme Sanders join Chris Ruffolo in discussing first jobs, venturing out on their own, trial and error business building, and where they'd like their income to come from in the next three years.
Articulation Games III: Jenn Pilotti Teaches PE
The premise is this: pick a sport and an age group to get to teach kids about an underlying movement principle. Jenn picks elementary school and soccer and comes up with a plan (that Chris throws a few wrenches in).
#24 - Adarian Barr Returns
In this special day drinking episode, Chris and Adarian discuss warmups and take questions from a hoppin' bar in Salem, Oregon. Simultaneously recorded with instagram live, being patient through the lulls will reveal some tremendous nuggets about his concepts and principles, such as up leg/down leg, p-squared, rotations, starts, and much more.
#23 - Coaches Needing Coaches
Jeremy Fein, Jenn Pilotti, and Chris Ruffolo discuss whether they believe coaches need coaches. Hard answers soften as multiple sides are presented.
#22 - Articulation Games 2: Combining Skillsets and Engaging Kids
Fanny and Zeynep combine their skillsets (play and pain/ problem solving) to create an engaging activity for 12-14 year olds. We discuss their process for figuring out needs/ wants, how they would handle the "I'm not doing it" crowd, and they offer up a collaborative game to fit the situation. [The Articulation Games is a series of teaching challenges. Video of these interactions can be found on the Thinkmovement YouTube page.]
#21 - Finding Common Ground: Life Coach or Personal Trainer?
Zeynep, Sam, and Chris discuss labels, problem solving, credibility, and trusting your intuition. We find that we all do the same thing and struggle with the labels in which to call it.
#20 - Adarian Barr
A conversation with Adarian Barr on being different, seeing the whole picture, crossing contexts, rotation, retraction, and global vs. local movements.
#19 - Personal Trainer or Life Coach
Gary, Jenn, Zeynep, Fanny, Chris, and Jeremy discuss on whether there is a distinction between life coach and personal trainer. We get into ideas of psychologists on gym floors, sensory educators, client responsibility, language bias, autonomy being bad for business, and how it's hard to find the right words to translate and/or communicate what it is that we do.
#18 - Knowing What You Need (HS PE)
Audio from a zoom class asking kids how they know what they need. Split between being told and figuring it out on their own, this translates into blindly accepting vs. being skeptical and asking questions. The first step in the process of getting what you need.
#17 - An Update on Incontinence
Chris and Zeynep recap finding's that have helped curb (cure?) Chris's incontinence issues. [See 'A Session with Zeynep: Magic Breathing on thinkmovement.net]. The key was not in studying the pelvic floor, but the above xiphoid. Altering rib position at rest created space for air/ pressure to go elsewhere than down.

#16 High Schoolers talk about Care
Another from actual online Phys Ed. Care looks like many things to many people. What if it were talked about and discussed? Could it act as a learned and useful skill? We specifically talk about the selfishness dilemma and assumptions which lead to frustration. Care = spending time with and paying attention to. It is a form of active listening and adjusting.
#15 - High Schoolers talking about Depression & Anxiety
Since school has started and I don't have any peer conversations to post, I thought I would give insight into how I'm starting with thinking and feeling in regards to Online PE. This discussion is asking kids why they seem to be more affected by depression and anxiety than their peers. (Self-reported).
#14 - Articulation Games, Day 2
#13 - Art Games Group Assignment
#12 Articulation Games, Day 1
#11 - TM+ PE
Michael Ryan and Chris Ruffolo welcome yoga teacher, IT analyst, non-profit leader, and bicycle enthusiast David Zundel to talk about where Phys Ed is lacking, the assumption of health and ability, and the opportunity that distance learning presents.
#10 - Pelvic Dysfunction (Male Perspective)
Kyle Pringle and Rufus Nicoll dive deep into ALL the holes, the trouble finding resources of a non-sexual nature that dig into these topics, and why being sensitive to what's happening in the pubic region can be as fundamentally significant as breathing.
Resource book Kyle recommended: Recognizing and Treating Breathing Disorders by Thomas Meyers (Anatomy Trains)
#9 - Pelvic Dysfunction (Female Perspective)
Physiotherapist Zeynep Seyran discusses her work with pelvic dysfunction as a whole and in working with the specific post-birth issues of Sevinc Gurmen, a pole athlete. The simplest solution is often difficult to implement because our bodies war with our egos. (Described 'magic exercise' to be posted to thinkmovement.net this Friday, July 24, 2020).
#8 - TM+ Pain
The episode that changed everything. We welcome 'outsider' Zeynep Seyran (physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic issues) to talk with Sevinc Gurman, Jenn Pilotti, Fanny Tulloch, Jenn Pilotti, and Chris Ruffolo about the need to keep pain a mystery.
#7 - Finding Common Ground: Environmental Importance
An urban scholar and a woodsy forager agree to disagree on how the environments in which we reside shape us and form movement habits.
#6 - Privilege and Movement Culture
Jenn Pilotti, Gary Stockdale, and Chris Ruffolo discuss the barriers surrounding movement culture and how it's existence is a sifting and socio-cultural marker of privilege.
#5 - Deregulation and Disassociation of the Nervous System
Dare Sohei takes the group toward sensing deregulation of the nervous system, the coping patterns we fall into, and ultimately, how one may right the ship to get back to calm and steady waters.
#4 - Defining Your Crossroads and Determining Value
Jeremy Fein, Cat Cowey, Chris Ruffolo, and Gary Stockdale discuss the different worlds in which they reside in and how they put a cost value on their services. Alternative title is 'Chris gets a therapy session on her aversion to selling."
#3 - Finding Common Ground: Pride vs. Ego
Part 2 of Mike and Rufus, the fisherman and the fighter go deeper into kittens vs. killers, definitions, needs, learning, and finding balance.
#2 - Finding Common Ground : Masculinity & Ego
A sensitive fisherman and a competitive fighter discuss masculinity and ego.
#1 - Developing Training Personas
Gary Stockdale (aquatics/ locomotion), Cat Cowey (hypermobility), Chris Ruffolo (pain/ phys ed), Jereme Sanders (parkour), and Sevinc and Selen Gurman (pole) discuss the training identities one takes on while practicing their craft, from sexy to fearless.
