In this weeks episode of Better With Running Podcast, Zacca returns refreshed from his holiday, we hear about his pre departure shoot with Mizuno sporting some colourful shoes.

Chris hits his biggest week since 2019 clocking up 95km,  capping it off with a huge run at Bundoora, his best ever AV race effort, timing his run to perfection and having some big battles along the way with some legends of the circuit.

This weeks guest on the better with running podcast is #teamrun2pb athlete Matt Morgan, We hear about his journey into running from a few jogs to get ready for the local fun run in between boozy sessions and smoking half a pack of cigarettes a day, we hear about his transformation as a runner, changing his lifestyle and going from a 3:51 marathoner to a 2:58 marathoner in Canberra.

We hear about his favourite sessions, the banter in his training groups and general love for the sport. He fends of some blows from listeners and some photos deep in the archives are brought up as he works his way through Chriso’s Quick Fire Q&A.

Zacca announces a partnership with the Puffing Billy Fun Run, an iconic Victorian Fun run, back on the racing calendar.

Day one of the Festival will feature a new 1.2km Kids Dash and a new 5km Family Fun Run / Walk on Saturday 9 September at Emerald Lake Park, with the echoing toots and puffs of Puffing Billy propelling all participants forward.

Then, on Sunday 10 September, prepare to witness a fierce showdown as up to 3,000 participants take on the challenge of a lifetime, racing against two colossal steam locomotives from Belgrave to Emerald in the heart-pounding 13.5 km 'Classic' Run.

For those hungry for even greater conquests, the all-new 21.1km road and trail Half Marathon; a true test of endurance set amidst the breathtaking views and unyielding hills of the Eastern Dandenong Ranges.

Spectators looking to cheer on participants can embark on an unforgettable journey themselves, hopping aboard the iconic Puffing Billy and potentially even surpassing the racing runners!

The recently developed state-of-the-art Lakeside Visitor Centre within Emerald Lake Park will host the Festival’s Finish Zone precinct for the first time.

It’s sweat versus steam through the rolling hills of the Dandenong Ranges.

In this weeks better with Running Podcast,  Zacca and Chriso celebrate 150 episodes with a big recap from all the excitement up at the Gold Coast Marathon weekend, they get a chance to run together at the Lululemon shake-out led by Run2PB coach Brady Threlfall. We hear about the weekend's events, and how much fun they had catching up with a number of athletes and fellow coaches.

Chris talks us through his race and openly shares a tough and challenging day for him in the 10km, but there was a silver lining as he was able to assist Nora along to a sub 50min run, and also embrace the event with a number of his athletes having a great day.

Zacca enjoys the shakeout run with chriso and then laps it up on course watching a number of athletes go by, with just on 60 athletes competing across the various events from 10km through to Marathon with a number of debuts, PBs and great performances.

This weeks guest is #teamrun2pb athlete, Zak Round hailing from ‘God’s Country’ coached by the king of the peninsula Matt ‘Mattress’ Davy, Zacca and Chris unpack his running journey, hearing about his progression as a runner, all the learnings along the way and we hear about his epic negative split at the Boston Marathon earlier this year. We also hear about his fresh new PB up on the Gold Coast and some of the sessions leading into the race.

In this week's episode, Chris and Zacca catch up on their training weeks, its race week for Chris as he prepares with some sessions including his fav hills and threshold, before finishing his long run with a pacing job, before he gears up to challenge the hilly bendigo XC. Chris talks about his excitement for the event and bringing a bus full of Shepparton Runners Club members.

Zacca continues to come back from his soleus injury, with some momentum being able to get out to nearly the 60min mark. However race plans are on hold as he confirms that the recovery is taking a little longer than he would like!

In around the grounds, Chris and Zac mention some results from across the country before we hear about Phi Podbury, Run2PB's oldest member who at age 80 took 17mins off his previous years 14k run at the Great Ocean Road Running Festival. We hear about his love for running, his enthusiasm at training and overall inspirational outlook towards hs running.

Run2PB Coach, and 2 x Australian Representative Gemma Maini jumps on for an update on how training has been going, and how she has been going with the XCR season, training for the Gold Coast Half, before making an annoucement about a really exciting monthly award in partnership with ASICS.

This week on the better with Running Podcast, Zacca and Chriso talk about the excitement of leading into a 10km Road Race, where they will be lining up for their respective clubs at Albert Park, they discuss their sessions, including chris hitting over 70km week including a longer session of 2min reps into a 6km Threshold. Zacca hits a session at princes park focussing on trying to get on 10k target pace, before hitting the ‘donut’ and doing classic ‘1km reps’ session.

Run2PB athlete, Bowen Law  is this weeks special guest, Bown  is coached by Matt Davy, after getting the running bug during covid, the guys talk about his his  quick progress. Signing up in February 2022, with an initial 10k PB of 48.10 and 5k of 23min. He has dropped those down in ust over a year  to 40.06 and 19.53. 

We hear about how he fits it in, whilst working full time work in the city, as a plumber. Most days climbing up and down the steps of Marvel Stadium all day long. Bowen lets us in on how fav sessions and what he has learnt since joining run2pb under the guidance of Matt. Chris puts Bowen through his quick fire questions, and puts out his usual request for food pics, and we hear about Bowens love for craft beer that gets Zacca excited! In this weeks episode of the Better with Running Podcast, Zacca and Chris are joined by a special guest - Steve Langdon, “Kiwi Steve” - Zacca’s training partner and club mate, who also has interest in sports psychology.

We hear about all their training weeks as they gear up for Jells Park Relays- XCR Round 1. Steve talks about his come back from an injury that stopped his summer season short. Zacca and Chris interrogate his strava as some kms spike in his return to training. Steve then is put on the spot with some quick fire questions, which leads to an in-depth discussion on Mac and Cheese and an instruction from Chris for photos and a recipe.

Chriso goes through his sessions for the week, highlighted with his first session in alphaflys and hits 71k before getting ready for  relay lining up for the Bats. Zacca lines up at parkrun and has a positive experience, with more consistent splits than his last hit out, leading chriso to call him out to go toe to toe at the relays.

Around the grounds results kicks off with some results locally including canberra, newcastle (featuring coach Madeline Heiner debuting over the marathon), and Sarah Jayamaha has the boys awe after covering over 180ks in 24hrs in the track. We hear about the 4 athletes from run2pb that raced at Boston, with some P.Bs and amazing results.

Steve chats about race week nerves and some practical strategies for calming yourself down as you get ready for that race, and also answers a question around going to the well in sessions and the impact that can have on you.
