The Disproportionate Truth: Bearing The Brunt Of Covid-19

The Disproportionate Truth: Bearing The Brunt Of Covid-19

Covid19 is disproportionately affecting the Black community for a myriad of reasons. I was joined by three incredible doctors, who also happen to be sisters, to not only discuss Covid but to also talk about the biases, lack of representation, and the overall lack of care that we see in the field of medicine. They also talked about their incredible journey and the amazing works they are doing to improve our health. This was an amazing and informative panel. Please SHARE....SHARE....SHARE

A Mental Health Awareness Panel Discussion

A Mental Health Awareness Panel Discussion

We need this now more than ever and you are important to us. Because of this, we had a panel of experts to discuss Mental Health. Your mental wellness is important. Your family’s mental wellness is important.  And we have to have these difficult conversations to rid our community of the stigmas and the misinformation surrounding mental health.

this open panel discussion I invited five mental health professionals who went in depth on the different forms on mental illness and its affects on the Black community.  We wanted to focus on the stigmas, the disparity in help, the whys whats and hows. We envision this series as a teaching moment to educate our people on why mental health is important and the various avenues they can take. We also want to talk about the signs to look for as well as ways to cope. This is a definite must listen.

Mississippi Burnin'

Mississippi Burnin'

In this episode, I am joined by friend and fellow Mississippian Tim McCormick to discuss the state of our home state of Mississippi as well as some of the things going on in our hometown. The focus of this episode is on the ongoing saga of the MDOC prison system, more specifically Parchman Prison. We also discuss the recent turn of events at local establishments who adopt rules to discourage Black patronage and why Black folks need to stay away anyway....

 War on Multiple Fronts

War on Multiple Fronts

We are back with a new name but same focus and attitude....In this episode I discuss the deplorable living situation as well as the violence happening in multiple prisons in the state of MS. This situation is due to the failure and neglect of the MDOC and the huge failures of the administration as well as the state's administration. Prisoners are human beings and should not be robbed of their dignity and humanity. Black With No Chaser was the first and for days the only news source covering this, and our work has only begun. Also in this episode I bring back my favorite segments Politricks  As Usual, where I discuss the recent Iran situation and how it affects us, and Colonizer Nonsense where I give a recap of the racists being racists....

Amber Guyger Was Guilty From the Start

Amber Guyger Was Guilty From the Start

This episode focused on the trial and guilty verdict of Amber Guyger for the murder of Botham Jean. I have been following this since the beginning and have been waiting with baited breath for this exact verdict. Hopefully, they don't let her off easy with the sentencing phase. In my talk, I give a timeline of events from the murder up until the verdict with the hope of giving some clarity to those who may not be fully aware of what is going one. In the end, I pray for peace for Mr. Jean's family, friends, and loved ones and hope that justice is fully served.

A Tale of Two Justice Systems...

A Tale of Two Justice Systems...

This episode I start off discussing how flawed our justice system is and how the privileged get a leg up and an automatic benefit of the doubt while non privileged people of color do not.  I illustrate this by detailing three cases and the stark differences between them and how those differences predetermined the outcomes. We do indeed live under two different justice systems.  My second segment is politricks as usual where I once again talk about another gaffe made by our very underwhelming commander in chief Orange Blunder. I also talk about the mess that was the Democratic debates and my take on choosing the right candidate. Later in this episode I discuss the recent happenings in pop culture and entertainment. Lil Nas X came out last day of pride month and ALL THE RACISTS came out when Disney named a Black woman as Ariel the Little Mermaid.  And finally I discuss free agency and my disappointment with my New York Knicks, as well as sending a huge shoutout to CoCo Gauff for her Wimbledon victories and to the US Women's Soccer team for bringing home the World Cup....

Juneteenth....A Day of Remembrance

Juneteenth....A Day of Remembrance

Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. In this episode, I talk about my experiences with Juneteenth as well as the ramifications of slavery and ill effects of it that we still see today.

A Call to Action--The National Black Mama's Bailout Initiative

In this episode I am joined by attorneys and activists who played an influential role in obtaining the release of Black mothers from jail for before, during and after Mother's Day. In this conversation we discussed the importance of this initiative as well as the flawed and unjust cash bail system. This is a nationwide movement that needs our support with both boots on the ground and financial assistance. Together we can achieve justice....Help Us #FreeBlackMamas and End Pretrial Detention

GIANTS....An Interview with James Bland

GIANTS....An Interview with James Bland

This episode I interview the Emmy nominated director, producer, actor, and content creator Mr. James Bland about his phenomenal web series Giants. This show is about the lives of three friends and how they handle the different Giants within their lives. This is a must see series that is well directed, well written, well acted, and has great cinematography. The best part about it is that it faces the taboo topics of the Black community head on and doesn't blink. THIS IS A MUCH WATCH SERIES. James talks in depth about this series as well as himself and how they parallel on another. He also talks about his future projects as well as giving advice to up and coming actors and film directors. A truly must hear interview. You can watch Giants on YouTube as well as CleoTV. We will also be engaging in live Watch Parties with recaps on Black With NO Chaser as well.....

The Direct Relationship Between Mental Health and Poverty

The Direct Relationship Between Mental Health and Poverty

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month we are making a concentrated effort to spread the word about Mental Health in the Black Community. I also discuss the issue of how expensive it is to be poor in America and the direct relationship between poverty and mental health. I touch on the stigma associated with mental health, the problems with overdraft fees, as well as predatory lending and cash bail reform. This is an overview and the beginning of a series of pieces that we are producing on Black With No Chaser to inform, educate, and enlighten the diaspora of these two things that are plaguing our communities. I also talk about the National Bailout Organization's Black Mama Bailout movement to bail black mamas out of jail in time for Mother's Day. And finally, there is new Colonizer Nonsense segment focused on this country's injustice system.

Let's Talk it Over

Let's Talk it Over

This episode I discuss a variety of things going on in the news as well as our culture. The first thing I addressed was the killer of Mr. JAmes Byrd finally being executed in Texas. This has finally brought this horrific case to a close and has given his family the justice and closure that they deserve. I also delved into the highly controversial discussion that has been raging o about the burning of the Notre Dame cathedral in France and the reactions of our nation's leaders towards it versus their reactions to the numerous burned historically Black churches. I talked about it with the intent of understanding all sides. Also, in this episode I touched on the Nipsey freestyle from Jay Z and how it ties into what we as a community can do to fiscally help ourselves now and in future generations. Make sure to check out This Week in Sports....the Game of Thrones Edition and a new Politricks As Usual where I give brief intros of the leading Democratic candidates....and closing out this week, I give a SPOILER FREE review for Marvel's The Avengers Endgame....

This episode is my 1st year anniversary of this podcast. I am very excited and humbled by the love and support you guys have given me. Joining me this week to celebrate is my boy and fellow Black With No Chaser member, Jarreous Thomas the Unapologetic Geek. We recall a few of the biggest stories I covered this first year as well as talk about the current cheating scandal with Aunt Becky, the death and subsequent aftermath of NIpsey Hussle, as well the role social media is playing in today's society. Once again thank each and everyone of you for the likes, shares, follows, and downloads and I look forward to continued growth and success and it would be all because of you.....

Nipsey Hussle is Bigger Than Music

Nipsey Hussle is Bigger Than Music

This episode is dedicated to the life, times, words, works, and accomplishments of Nipsy Hussle.  His death was one of the biggest and most influential losses of my generation and one that I will not soon get over. The rap industry took a loss, but the culture, OUR culture took an even bigger loss. Nip was the blueprint that we all should aspire to follow. He was a huge inspiration to not only his neighborhood but to the nation and his loss will reverberate through the entire Black community. He will be sorely missed and I hope his legacy lives on through us all.  Also in this episode, I celebrate and salute International Black Women's History Month. I talk about their contributions to our society in spite of all the obstacles faced. I highlight this by talking about Mary Bowser and how she helped shape the Civil War. I also talk about Collette Smith making history as the first and only Black female coach hired in the NFL.  As usual, I come with the popular Colonizer Nonsense as well as This Week in Sports. I close out by thanking you all for my upcoming milestones I'm about to hit, thanks to you all. I m approaching my 1 year anniversary, my 50th episode, and my 7500th download. Again I thank you all.

They Didn't Steal Slaves...A Convo with Ms. Jovan Bradshaw

LET'S TALK Y'ALL.....

I, along with Black With No Chaser,am beyond excited and honored to have the opportunity to interview this wonderful lady Ms. Jovan Bradshaw on my podcast. We as a community need to rally around her and make what she is doing a success. And here is why......
This right here is real love for your people who came before you. This right here is real love for the people who are here with you now. This is real love for those who will come after you. This extraordinary lady is leaving a long lasting impression on not only MS but the world. Her simple gesture started with one student then spread like wildfire. It was an honor and a pleasure to speak with her.

Also in this episode, I come with the popular segments Colonizer Nonsense and This Week in Sports w/Howard Brosell where I talk about Robert Kraft and his P*ssy problems as well as Larry Baer and Tristan Thompson's as well. This week I also brought back my "You Ain't Sh*t" segment where I talk about those problematic folks within our ranks.

Look for us on www.shadeandshittalking.podbean.com as well as www.blackwithnochaser.com. We are also on BWNC Radio and all of the major podcasting platforms like Google Podcasts and iTunes.

Ms. Bradshaw has started a campaign to further her #Staydroppingknowledge initiative to not only help her students, but other students and teachers as well. THIS IS FOR THE CULTURE.... PLEASE SHARE AND MAKE HER GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN A SUCCESS....#staydroppingknowledge

The Rise in Suicide Among Black Children

The Rise in Suicide Among Black Children

In this bonus episode, I am joined by Dr.Colibri Jenkins to discuss the rise in suicide among Black Children. Research is showing that there is a racial disparity in suicide among kids, and there is no known specific reason why.
Between 1993 and 2012 suicide rates doubled among black youngsters ages 5-11, while rates declined among white children in same age group, according to a 2015 article published in the academic journal JAMA Pediatrics. The suicide rate cited in that study is roughly twice as high as for black children as it is for their white peers. In absolute numbers, that’s 657 young black children — 553 boys and 104 girls — who took their own lives.

The growing number of suicides among black children demands deeper inquiry into the state of black kids’ lives and why a small but growing number are compelled to choose death over their circumstances.
Suicides are not a failure of youth’s ability to cope as much as they are a catastrophe of adults’ inability to respond.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), or the Crisis Text Line — text TALK to 741741 — are free, 24-hour services that can provide support, information and resources.

Part 3: ReCommitting To Black Excellence

Part 3: ReCommitting To Black Excellence

This episode is part 3 of our four part Black History Month series. I talk about recommitting ourselves to ourselves. I challenge you the listener as well as myself, family and friends to commit to making a difference in the lives of those we come in contact with. By challenging ourselves to do and be better, we can and will improve each and every one of our communities. Are you up for the challenge? I know I am. In this episode I also talk about committing ourselves to challenge the way our history is being taught to our children in these schools. I used the real Rosa Parks story, and not the sanitized version they teach, as an illustration of the whitewashing of our history. I also give examples of different ways that I use to celebrate our history not just for this month but for everyday of the year. Also in this episode, I brought back the For the Culture segment where I honored Ms. Jovan Bradshaw and her efforts to push the culture forward. As always I have the fan favorites Colonizer Nonsense as well as This Week in Sports...the Money Edition.

Part1: Black History is American History....Let's Reflect, Rejoice, Recommit, and Re-educate

This episode is the kickoff to a month long series dedicated to Black History....American History. The focus of this series will be defined by the four R's: Reflection, Rejoicing, Recommitting, and Re-Educating. I believe these 4 things are necessary in order for us as a collective to further grow in the right direction. This first episode I talk about Dr. Carter G Woodson, the creator and curator for Negro History Week, which was the foundation of Black History Month. I hope this spurs more people to learn and teach about our rich and very understated and whitewashed history. Also in this episode, I have a new Politricks as Usual segment where I will be talking about the huge numbers of democrats throwing their name into to that for the Democratic Party nomination. I encourage you all to vet each one and do your homework so that we get the best candidate possible. As usual I hit you with another funny This Week In Sports, the Super Bowl Edition, as well as more Colonizer Nonsense with a focus on Blackface...SIGH.....

There is also a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT at the end. Please like, follow, share, and download on all of the available podcasting platforms. You can also find us at www.shadeandshittalking.podbean.com as well as www.blackwithnochaser.com.

Justice Delayed: The Case of Cyntoia Brown and its after effects on Society

This episode is a continuation of one I did a few weeks ago talking about the case of Cyntoia Brown and how I hoped for her to gain clemency.  This episode is celebratory in nature but it is also a wake up reminder and a realization that there is still so much work to be done in the protection of our Black women and children as well as prison reform. I also take this time to show how this case is very relatable to the #survivingRKelly Saga as well discussing how differently young Black women and girls are viewed through a lense of hypersexuality verses their white counterparts.  This episode I introduced a new segment entitled "Why You Mad" as well as a new Colonizer Nonsense and a This Week in Sports segment.

R. Kelly: The Pied Piper of Pedo

Happy New Year to all. This is the first episode of 2019 and I am beyond excited for the things to come....Peace and Blessings to you all

In this episode I delve into the conversation that is going on everywhere, the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly. Although I have given my opinion on this subject before, I feel that it is necessary to give my insight and my feelings on this at this time. He and others like him who condone or enable this behavior should be dealt with and exposed for the predators that they are. In this episode, I also talk about the sad murder of 7 year old Jazmine Barnes in the Houston area. This week's Politricks as Usual I talk about the history making Black women and the other women of color who have finally taken office in the House. I also discuss the Government Shutdown and 4 things you should know about it.  As usual we have another episode of Colonizer Nonsense as well as This Week in Sports.
