Knowledge, experience, and skill are undoubtedly the most important qualities a doctor needs to possess. As is compassion. But rarely are all these four found in a single individual. It is providing quality healthcare to all strata of our society, including the less fortunate, that Dr.Parvez Grant considers his greatest fulfilment. To that end, the Ruby Hall Clinic has performed numerous heart surgeries practically free of cost.

Dr. Grant himself has conducted more than 8000 free clinics across far-flung areas of Maharashtra."

In the year 2015, Grant Medical Foundation spent over Rs. 12 crores on free treatment for the underprivileged. In recognition of his services to the medical field, Dr. P.K. Grant has been conferred a number of honours, including 3 national awards (Rashtriya Samman Award, Manibhai Desai Rashtraseva Award,Lions Yuva Seva Ratna Award).

Validation of this pursuit has come from far and wide, including the American College of Cardiology, USA, recognising it as a Centre of Excellence.

Sakal WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER and Radio City with Kathak Guru, Prerna Deshpande

Sakal WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER and Radio City with Kathak Guru, Prerna Deshpande

Prerana Deshpande" was Ms. Deshpande the mistress of her dance or its servant?.. Both. At times you felt her surrendering to its impulse as she allowed her torso to sway gorgeously; at times you felt the brilliance of her control as she changed an already elaborate rhythm with her feet. The rhythmic complexity and the intricate physical coordination of her solo proved astonishing.” - Alastair Macaulay, Dance Critic, The New York Times in 2009. Acknowledged by connoisseurs as a solo dancer of repute and a creative choreographer of rare caliber, Prerana Deshpande is among the leading complete solo Kathak dancers of her generation. Internationally acclaimed as a creative dancer whose work reveals the perpetually expanding horizons of the traditional form, Prerana is regarded for her exquisite command over the fundamentals of Kathak - Rhythm, Grace, & Expression and for her creativity rooted in the tradition of this dance form. Greatly appreciated by all audiences for her expertise in Kathak, she is regularly invited to perform as a solo artist at all major venues and festivals in India and abroad.

She believes in Kathak as means for artistic expression. Her choreography presentations of various classical as well as theme-based subjects are applauded by classes and masses alike. Her evolving body of work of choreography and collaborative productions, which includes music of varied genres, highlights her keen awareness of musical aesthetics.
" I believe that in any art form, the reflection of the artist's individuality and personality in their art makes them a complete artist. Deep knowledge of the art under the guidance of a Guru, intense training, and true passion are the only ways to achieve it," says Kathak Guru.

Recipient of numerous awards, Prerana has been felicitated by legendary Pt. Birju Maharaj with 'Gaurav Puruskar'. Prerana has also been honored with the title of 'Nrityashri' and was conferred the title of 'Singar Mani' by the Sur Singar Samsad of Mumbai.

She encourages and promotes Kathak as a traditional, pure, solo art form. This she does through numerous workshops, seminars, and lecture demonstrations where she is often invited to India and abroad.

Prerana shares her knowledge and experiences as a Kathak dancer as a Guru at the Centre of Performing Arts at Pune University and through her own institute - NRITYADHAM.

Play as Therapy by Suhasini Paul, Toy Design Expert

Play as Therapy by Suhasini Paul, Toy Design Expert

About the speaker:

Suhasini Paul is an eminent Toy Designer, alumni of NID, TEDx speaker, and Co-founder of Paulstudio India. She is a recipient of the "Designpreneur of the year" award from Shri Narendra Modi. She has designed over 300+ toys for her clients in India, Thailand, Italy, UK, USA, Turkey, and France, which are launched every year at various Toy Fairs across the globe. She also designs toys for Kinder Joy, Disney, Hape, and Chhota Bheem.

How Play as Therapy Treats and Benefits Children and Some Adult?

As adults, when we have emotional issues or mental health problems, we are often able to recognize that something is out of sorts; sometimes, we are even able to share our emotions with others. But with children – particularly those who are very young – this may not be possible. Some children may be unable to express themselves verbally, some may be shy, and some others may not be very comfortable with sharing their problems. It is then more effective to use play, a medium that comes very naturally to the child, to explore their issues.

Play therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses play to help children deal with emotional and mental health issues. By using play as the medium, children are able to explore their feelings and share them with the therapist or the parents.
In this form of therapy, a therapist encourages a child to explore life events that may have an effect on current circumstances, in a manner and place of the child's choosing, primarily through play but also through language.
Play therapy, can help individuals communicate, explore repressed thoughts and emotions, address unresolved trauma, and experience personal growth and is widely viewed as an important, effective, and developmentally appropriate mental health treatment.

Webinar Speakers

Swami Ramdev Baba (Wisdom of Yoga with Ramdev Baba
@Patanjali)
Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev shares special Yoga tips with us in this webinar.

Mrunal Pawar (Director @Sakal Media Group)
Mrunal Pawar is the Director of Sakal Media Group. Her passion for Kathak led her to found Kathak Rang, a unique learning platform for dance students. She is also a Dance Movement Therapist and a yoga practitioner having studied yoga for the last 15 years at the Ramamani Iyengar Institute, Pune.

Yoga in general is a great way to enhance positive psychological wellbeing. As it is written in the Bhagavad Gita, ’Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.’, let this self-journey begin!

How are yoga and mental health linked?

Often when one is suffering from excessive stress, anxiety, or panic attacks, they are asked to calm themselves before taking any action. In such scenarios, breathing exercises are taught to the client to calm their minds, bring the breathing to a normal rate, and ensure normal blood flow in the body.
Breathing is considered the most important aspect of yoga. When under stress, our sympathetic nervous system, that is fight or flight system gets activated where the heart rate increases, there is a decrease in digestive function, decrease in salivation, etc. The body then needs to calm down and
the parasympathetic nervous system needs to be activated in which the heartbeat regulates, the salivation and digestive function return to normalcy. Pranayama, where Prana means energy and Yama means to control, helps one to consciously focus on breathing which helps in the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system.

Tradition and Beyond with Rahul Deshpande

Tradition and Beyond with Rahul Deshpande

The art of music and singing can be used to relieve stress, and music and singing is an effective medium for managing stress.
Also today the music scene is a big cultural cauldron.. everything is accessible to all. Classical music being so sophisticated is understood by few, learn how to make it sustain with the new generation with Rahul Deshpande, renowned classical vocalist in conversation with musicologist, Deepak Raja.

"Music is a high-risk profession especially in these times of uncertainty, how to one/industry give space to so many musicians and vocalists who are aspiring to be professional singers. What is today’s music? Classical music is the same but the way everyone interprets it is different. It depends on the kind of impressions one has in everyday life. I like traveling, wildlife, and the visual arts, especially paintings, and these have had an effect on me. And, the musical language that comes out of me is today’s language. I express myself in music. Although the sur and classical music are the same (“it has been the same since Vedas”), the performance or rendition changes.”

Celebrating Music with Mahesh Kale

Celebrating Music with Mahesh Kale

A more mindfulness approach towards music - how deep listening and singing are both meditative and therapeutic at the same time.

#DidYouKnow As per the research by UCF, University in Florida, if you are in pain and your body is under distress, the pain sensors go back to your brain but if your brain is engaged in music or any other musical activity, then it actually stops responding to that pain which essentially means the body doesn't essentially go into that trauma.

Music helps us bring in the rewarding or the happy state which releases the right hormones which are known to avoid #stress. #musictherapy

Holistic Healing Practices

Holistic Healing Practices

#domesticviolence we all have faced it sometimes in a relationship, its high time we spoke about this in the open and stop worrying about the consequences, this problem, or issue as we call it does not occur only in the lower classes this happens in the upper class, upper-middle-class and the elite society as well, no one wants to speak about this and everyone tolerates domestic violence in some manner or the other, some think it will end shortly, some pity themselves for being where they are, some blame themselves for the situation and some do not want to get out of their comfort zones and hence allow violence. It is when abusive behavior is used by one partner to maintain control over the other partner be it male or female. They are different types of domestic violence one goes through like physical abuse, emotional abuse, economic abuse, psychological abuse, threats, etc.  Abusers humiliate their partners, they reduce their self-worth, isolate them from their family and friends and the victim feels helpless and powerless in this situation .it is important for us to understand that we need to stand up for ourselves empower ourselves, today there are many institutions and resources that help in these situations. We all need to live free and out of fear, We all need to reach out and speak. Dare to be Another U.

Being a good couple is far more than sharing the same interests, Compatibility, I always thought as a child that if two people got along it would be that their interests or likes or dislikes as we call it would be more or less similar. However as one grows up we find out that we all have different views for the same thing our likes and dislikes also vary, but now I understand that having different views than your significant other is not a bad sign. There is a saying conflict is good for a healthy relationship. Trusting your partner, saying sorry when it is really required, doing something together that interests both of you, understanding each other just by looking into the eyes, loving each other like there is no tomorrow. Having followed all of this one can have the most amazing relationship and it isn’t a tough task at all. #weareinthistogether

Sailing Through Turbulent Times by BK Sister Shivani

Sailing Through Turbulent Times by BK Sister Shivani

Boost Your Emotional Immunity

There is a steep rise in depression, anxiety, panic attacks, mood swings, domestic violence, and divorce rate. We are not recognizing them to be outcomes of lack of emotional strength. Instead, we are validating them as “Normal” reactions to the situation.

Following are guidelines about how these affirmations can be used to get optimum benefits.

Few simple lifestyle habits to boost emotionally immunity -

1. Energize your mind with a pure emotional diet every morning. Refrain from using phone or reading newspapers for at least an hour upon waking. With your first few thoughts, give gratitude to God, to your mind and body, to people in your life, and to everything you use. Say the 8 affirmations with conviction, visualizing, and feeling each statement.

2. Meditate for 20 minutes. For 30 minutes, study spiritual knowledge or any content that empowers your mind with vibrations of peace, love, happiness, faith, and wisdom.

3. Spend at least 30 minutes to exercise, yoga, walk, or gym, paying attention to thoughts. To energize your mind, you should avoid gossip or watching TV during the workout.

4. After every 1 hour, pause for 60 seconds and revise the 8 affirmations to recharge your mind.

5. Every day there are hours of continuous coverage about Covid-19 on media and social media. While it is important to be aware, it helps to limit news consumption. Otherwise repeated exposure increases fear and distress. You may choose to get updates for maybe 10 minutes a day and disconnect thereafter.

6. Your family and colleagues are adapting to new ways of living and working. They could be irritable, insecure, or anxious. Use your vibrations of peace and compassion in every interaction to heal them.

7. You are what you eat and drink. Food and water carry vibrational energy and therefore impact your emotional immunity. Today they have vibrations of fear and anxiety.

a. Cook for your family and eat home-cooked, Sattvic, vegetarian food. Your vibrations of love and care energize the meal and heal the minds of everyone who eats it.

b. Have high energy words such as mantra chants, songs of God’s remembrance, or spiritual discourses playing in the kitchen. They cleanse negative emotions and soothe everyone’s minds.

c. State the 8 affirmations before every meal to energize it.

d. Eat mindfully, away from phone and TV. Eat silently or have only happy conversations.

8. Sleep early to wake up early. Disconnect from work communication, gadgets, and emotionally

stimulating content, an hour before bedtime. Resolve issues on your mind. Meditate or read

positive messages for 10 minutes. Repeat the 8 affirmations as you fall asleep. They become a

part of your subconscious, radiate to your body, and into the environment for the next 6 hours.

When you create the same thoughts (affirmations) every morning, before every meal, before

drinking water each time and before sleep, you would have effectively repeated them for 15 to

20 times a day. Within a few days, these thoughts become your normal way of thinking. Your

thoughts will soon become your reality.
