Podcast Family! In this episode, I discuss how the NCAA is embracing “change” and starting the process of allowing student-athletes to profit off of their name, image and likeness, the organization announced yesterday is a great opportunity for the podcasting space.
NCAA New ByLaw Key Take-Aways
The organization’s top governing board voted unanimously to allow college athletes to be compensated, though the NCAA’s three divisions must still craft their own rules and detail the specifics.
Student-athletes must be treated similarly to non-athlete students, must not be treated like employees of their respective universities, and there should be a “clear distinction between college and professional opportunities,” the NCAA said.
In September, California became the first state to pass a law that would allow college athletes to get paid for endorsement deals and hire sports agents.

Whatever challenges exist within the organization can be traced to the cohesion of the executive team and its capabilities in prediction, delegation, and repetition.
Leaders don’t have to be years ahead, just minutes ahead of the market, the competition, and those they lead. The key is frequent interaction with customers, competitors, and employees.
1) Leadership: the inability to staff/grow enough leaders throughout the organization who have the capabilities to delegate and predict
2) Scalable infrastructure: the lack of systems and structures (physical and organizational) to handle the complexities in communication and decisions that come with growth
3) Market dynamics: the failure to address the increased competitive pressures that build (and erode margins) as you scale the business
In summary:
Stay On Frontline when small. As you scale up outsource for BIG DATA. This becomes increasingly more difficult as the business scales up.
