What Is The First Verse in the New Testament ? Most Christians Don't!

By Sanders

In most Bibles, between the Books of Malachi and Matthew is a page that reads something like, "The New Testament of Jesus Christ". Familiar with this? Well, on this short Bible Lesson, we are going to allow the Word of God to "correct" the idea that the first verse in the New Testament is located in Matthew Chapter 1, verse 1. Stick with me and you can "re-educate" your scholarly friends, lol.

Just WHAT Is The "Church" ???

Just WHAT Is The "Church" ???

Church.  Is it where we Go?

Is it what we "DO"?

Is it a Building used for religious purposes?

Is the Church building the "House of the Lord"?

Tonight we will look into the Word of God to define "Church" as Jesus promised to build It.

Are you in a "Wilderness Season"?

Are you in a "Wilderness Season"?

Jesus, having spent 40 days with the Father, was THEN led into the Wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

It was in that wilderness that Jesus, the Son of God, completely human, remained faithful and sinless ON OUR BEHALF.

Had Jesus' "wilderness experience" found Him to fail of sin even ONCE.... the Cross would've had NO Power in our lives.

But Jesus did NOT fail; did NOT sin.  And His success has been imputed unto ALL who Believe into Him!

You and I, if we take any "wilderness season", is of our OWN making.

How To Avoid More Failure

How To Avoid More Failure

Humans are "three-part beings".   We consist of an eternal spirit, and eternal soul, and a temporary physical body (spirit, soul, body).

When a person is born-again,  his/her nature changes from that of fallen man (made after Adam, who transgressed in the Garden), to that of Christ Jesus (Who lived a sinless, pure, holy life).  However, even though our nature is changed, we remain in this body with a Soul that has been accustomed to living for self, caring ONLY about pleasing self.  Herein is the "problem" with attempting to make wise, godly choices in life.  Our "flesh" (that part of our Soul that maintains knowledge of the old way pf living and thinking) now must be brought under subjection to our Born-Again Spirit which is always in perfect Union with the Holy Spirit of God.

Attempting to "get it right"... to live by our own human strength --resolve, will power, etc.-- cannot consistently supply the necessary strength for the cause.  But God has made Provision for us to live "by the spirit", and not have to rely on our flesh, our own human strength.
