Controlling too much?

Hey girl- are you trying to control everything in your life? Isn't that exhausting? I know, me too.. I tried for so long to control everything, including other people and the world around me. I got burnt out, and what I learned is that you can't actually control anything except yourself, and how you respond to the circumstances and the people in your life. You were never in control anyways. I still struggle with this and I'm willing to bet you do too. Because what is underneath that control perfectionism self, is certainly something else. That something else aways includes fear. Fear of something, and you deserve to know what that fear is that is showing up as a controlling self, and standing in your way of living a more free life. Let's peel these layers apart as we talk about controlling tendencies and why its important that you seek course correcting these behaviors before they sabotage your life.

But what SHOULD I be doing?

Ever have that nagging feel like you should be doing something else? Laundry, dishes, clean the house, work...but you really want to be doing something else? But you can't see to combat the shame of feeling like you earn a rest? Or you should have accomplished more of the do list before you took a break? ohhhh please tell me you have felt this way, I know I struggle with it. Let's talk about why we do this to ourselves and how our brain is truly comprehending the message we are sending it.
As Steve Jobs once said "your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life."

Struggling with fear and self doubt? This ones for you!

Ask and you shall receive- recently I did a survey on my IG stories asking what my listeners were struggling the most, an overwhelming amount voted for overcoming fear and self doubt. I suppose this makes sense especially during a time of a global pandemic where we are pushed to stay further inside of our comfort zones that makes us feel safe, when the outside world feels out of control. I am here to share with you my own experiences and the knowledge I have cultivated from these experiences in my own life.
If you are struggling with fear and self doubt there is an undoubtable an underlying limiting belief. The only way you identify this limiting belief is to do the work and ask the questions to uncover what the limiting belief is in hopes of correcting it. But where did this even have the ability to develop? Somewhere along the way we relinquished control and allowed this belief to form. We are not born this way.
Rumi has a quote that says "You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. you were born with ideas and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly."

EXECUTE- To carry out or put into effect. A course of action.

We all know that our thoughts drive our actions and our actions equal our results. In order to create the correct thoughts to take the actions I know I need to take for the results I desire, sometimes I rely on this helpful tool. Sometimes I chose words to come with me for the ride through the year, month, week or even day. Last week I chose the word execute. Join me on this episode where I share why I chose the word execute and how I desperately needed it in my life in order to clear space from my brain before all my energy was depleted. For if you never take action in the form of execution you may wind up procrastinating too many thing and derailing your progress.

Life is a classroom

Life is a classroom

Life is a classroom, one that I always want to be intentional about showing up in. You see we are actually meant to be learning all the days of our life here on earth. We aren't meant to go to school earn a degree and your learning for life is complete. This establishes a fixed mindset and what happens when you establish a fixed mindset is that you don't grow. You're either growing or you're dying, and I'm far from ready to die yet, I want to live full and die empty. So I intentionally look for ways to incorporate ways to always possess a growth mindset in my life. Looking at life as a classroom has been a great tool to assist me at redirecting my brain back to a place to be always on the look out for the ways that life is teaching. Life is working in your favor, not against you. But Life doesn't send you a clear message stating what exactly you are supposed to be learning and absorbing from the movie playing out in real time. You must be aware of what the lesson is inside of each movie playing in your life.
So on todays episode I am going to share with you how I view life this way and how it has helped me navigate through some really choppy waters in my life. Because sometimes we are the teacher, and sometimes we are the student, and being the student is always the easiest of hats to wear but crucial to a full human experience.

Training vs. Trying

Are you trying? Or are you training? Trying is not good enough. If you are kinda sorta trying to do something you are going to kinda sorta get results. Yet if you train to do something, you will succeed every single time. If you commit, fully engulf in committing to doing something and you drive your commitment with discipline you can accomplish anything you align with this commitment. The pathway to get you there is training. Training is the breaking down of the actionable moves required to move the needle forward towards your goal. Olympic athletes train, they are not born champions. They trained to be champions. They train when no one is watching.
You are wildly capable of anything you can dream for your life. Training is the route to take you there. Come experience life with Sarah on this episode as she speaks on the importance of training vs. trying.

But are you really self aware?

But are you really self aware?

Self awareness is being aware of traits, behaviors and feelings. Having the ability to notice your feelings and your physical reactions, in the pursuit of learning from them. Every reaction is education. Self awareness is the first step to working towards a healthy state of mind. Your thoughts drive your actions, and your actions equal your reality, therefore we must first become self aware of what we are believing as our truth before we can begin to take action upon cultivating a new reality. Humans have 48.6 thoughts per minute, this is 70k thoughts per day. If you don't possess self awareness in how these thoughts are showing up in your life, you cannot have control. You are the CEO of your life. You may not have control over what thoughts come to your mind, but you have control over reframing these thoughts and cultivating new thoughts for your future self. A study was conducted that proved that 95% of humans believe they are self aware, but the real number is closer to 12-15%. That is mind blowing you guys, and we have the ability to retune this soundtrack fir generations to come. Lets go!!!

Believe yourself into the you that you desire to be.

You are whoever you believe you are. Literally whatever your belief is about yourself is going to replicate the product of what your life is today. Because we know that your thoughts drive your actions and your actions cultivate your results. Before you can change anything in your life you need to adapt your feelings to match the person you want to be. This rings true in every aspect of life. If you want to become a runner you have to start thinking like a runner, in order to begin to adapt the lifestyle of a runner and do things that runners do every day, for the result of becoming a runner. Once you begin to cultivate thoughts and beliefs about yourself, your actions will begin to follow on their own and eventually you will create different results.

How I over self disciplined myself and it got in the way.

Self discipline can be a great quality to have, in fact I think its one of my best qualities. I am finding out now that this is mostly because this was the quality that produced actions in myself that created results in my life that I was praised for as a child, and even as an adult. It is usually true that you will exceed at whatever you have been continued to be praised for, its incentive to continue to strive for excellence in this matter. When you think about your relationship with self discipline and production, what your self discipline producers is often praised. This can very easily turn into a dangerous pattern if you are not careful!
Although I desire to keep my self discipline as it is most of the reason I have experienced great success in my life, I had to retune some of the soundtracks derived from my own discipline. I had to get really honest with myself and see how I had adapted unhealthy habits of allowing self discipline to show up in my life and block me from receiving the very thing I had been working so tirelessly for in the first place!

Come join me to listen about how I worked on changing this unhealthy habit I had allowed myself to adapt. This work is not easy, but easy robs you of proud. I am always striving for growth for if you are not growing you are surely dying.

What story are you telling yourself?

What story are you telling yourself?

I want to share with you what story I am telling myself on repeat that is working for me, and why I do this. I have found this successful in my life for many years, and this is how I have reached many of my goals and crossed them off my list in order to move onto the next. But with each lap in my journey of life I find a new struggle, and it my job to learn and grow from this. I must examine myself in order to see the things that I am doing that are not helping me, and find out what I can do that will help me. Recently I found myself confused as to how and where to steer my ship in my life, how to get from point A where I am now, to where I want to go. And is normal and this is honest hard work. Once you have completed a lap, crossed off a goal and you move into the next mile of your journey you may need something more to push you into the next mile, and the next mile. And what I found through studying myself and others was gold. Once I identified what I needed I knew that I needed to hold onto this one and attach a phrase and a symbol in order to keep this one for life, so I can add it to my bag of life tricks.
