Medha and Shreya, as two brown girls, are talking about the brown girl complex on this episode of Saree Not Sorry! We start by discussing the environments we grew up individually in and how it impacted our interactions with fellow brown girls. In the third episode of season two, Medha and Shreya talk about feminism in the South Asian community. Yay! Fun! We start our conversation by defining feminism, what it means to us individually, and how gender norms have changed over time. In the second half of our interview with Delegate Subramanyam, we talk about the stigma around South Asians in politics and how Delegate Subramanyam’s parents finally accepted his career choice. We delve into the various challenges that come with pursuing a political career, especially being a South Asian in Virginia!
