The Power of Social Listening #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode

The Power of Social Listening #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode

A #SaturdayMorningHustle Top Rated Episode Flashback to October 5, 2019 on the ironic topic of Social Listening because I’m doing all the talking today. Social Listening is the practice of paying attention to trends, attitudes, etc. of topics via social media channels like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

In a world buzzing with conversations, staying tuned in isn't just a trend – it's a strategic advantage. Social Listening goes beyond just posting – it's about understanding, empathizing and connecting with our digital society. Create Social Capital by listening more than you talk (post, tweet, gram, etc....)

From Twitter's rapid-fire updates to the visual storytelling of Instagram and the professional insights on LinkedIn, every platform is a goldmine of information.

Here's why Social Listening matters: • Spotting Trends: Stay ahead of the curve by identifying emerging topics and discussions in real time • Customer Insights: Understand your audience's needs, preferences, and pain points to deliver personalized experiences • Brand Reputation Management: Proactively manage your brand's image by addressing concerns and amplifying positive feedback • Competitive Intelligence: Gain valuable insights into competitors' strategies, strengths and weaknesses • Content Inspiration: Fuel your creativity by tapping into the conversations and interests of your target audience

Harness the power of Social Listening for engaging, learning and growing your brand and online influence. If you want to know why social listening is important, how to utilize it and the value listening on social media brings to any brand, self-brand or influential individual, then you have to listen to this episode.

Three Most Listened To Productivity Episodes Flashback to January 2018 #SaturdayMorningHustle

A first-ever triple flashback to 3 episodes in January 2018 focused on productivity (plus bonus content) that also happened to be some of our most listened-to / downloaded episodes. 1/6/18 The Cure For Procrastination! The new year is the best time to make a plan, set goals and get to work. Too many people fall victim to their own procrastination. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is right now. You can't wait for the perfect time or scenario. You just have to go for it. Tips on how to get (and stay) started. 1/13/18 The Blank Page Theory. We discuss the process all creative professionals go through. Start with a blank sheet of paper. Write down where you are, point A. At the other end of the paper, write down where you need to be, point B. This can be used for creating art, design or solving a problem. Now, start adding to your point A. What do you have in place (assets), what are you trying to accomplish, why are you doing it, etc. Then, do the same for point B. What's the finished product? A painting, a brochure, a website, a better mousetrap maybe? Now, without preconceived notions or "how we've always done it" excuses start connecting A to B. This is the what, how, when, etc. in problem solving. Everything starts with nothing. No BS or reasons why you can't do it. Just work towards your goal. 1/20/18 Maximize Your Work Week. The best way to get the most out of your Monday through Friday 9-5 grind is to be prepared and organized. SaturdayMorningHustle is the perfect time to prep for the week ahead. That's what I do. Make your to-do list, set up your assets, do your research, etc... Come in early, stay late, on the weekend, etc. it's all up to you. Put the work in before the work. THAT'S hustle! It's Saturday, I'm in the office, this is the Saturday Morning Hustle. Listen to this podcast while your competition is still sleeping. http://bit.ly/ListenToSMH

Be The Mentor You Needed #SaturdayMorningHustle

Be The Mentor You Needed #SaturdayMorningHustle

You have the opportunity right now to be the person you previously needed. Maybe when you were 15, 25, or even 40 you were looking for a mentor. You were looking for someone to answer questions. You now could be that person for someone else. You can be available to someone else. You can help others no matter how old you are, no matter how much experience you have, no matter your station in life.

Whoever you are and wherever you are in life, you can benefit someone else who needs your experience and education, the opportunities you have seized upon and what you've learned from them. Most importantly, the lessons you have learned from your failures. That's right. When I say experience, I don't just mean the winning experiences but also the lessons that come from failures. We've all had more failures than success. I want you to know that. Everyone's had failures.

Many people hear the word mentor, and it's intimidating to them. They think to themselves, I can't be a mentor because I'm not the world's best at something. You might think you don't need a mentor because you are highly skilled or have experience. Both of those are false assumptions.

Anyone and everyone can be a mentor and anyone and everyone can be mentored because we're all at different parts of our journey of success. We all know different things, have learned different lessons and have things to offer to those who have yet to reach the levels we have achieved.

Be the person you needed earlier in life. Be a great boss, be a great coworker, be a friend, be an example, be a mentor. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today!

Talk About What You Do In the Right Way #SaturdayMorningHustle

Talk About What You Do In the Right Way #SaturdayMorningHustle

There's no worse regret than "I didn't know you did that." "I didn't know I could hire you for that." You have to tell people what you do for your job and profession, how you get paid, how you create value for others and how you help people with your professional services or products if it's something you genuinely believe in.

This is not a sales pitch or a conversion process. This is not ABC "Always Be Closing". This is a value conversation, which is much better.

Be brave enough to advocate for yourself, your business or brand. If you don't do it for yourself, no one else will. Talk about what you do or what you're working on casually, in an informational way. Be bold and talk about your business or side hustle. Talk about your goals. Talk about your band, art or social media account you're trying to build. Talk about a new degree you're working on because you want to change your career. Talk about things you want to do, get people involved, get people invested. Create relationships and then go from there with a potential for success.

You know me, I'm Kyle Golding. I'm not just the guy behind the Saturday Morning Hustle. I'm also the CEO and Chief Strategic Idealist for The Golding Group, an award-winning think tank of strategic planning, business process management, integrated marketing and public relations consultants. We work with your leadership team to develop strategy, determine the most effective action plans, then execute and measure.

We create processes, systems and protocols that can be measured, adjusted and repeated by incorporating data analysis, market trends and audience feedback in a two-way conversation.

Tell people what it is you do. Tell people how it's different than other options. Tell them the value that you create. Tell them the audience you're looking for. Tell them who gets the best value out of your product or service, how you want to serve them, how you want to create for them, connect with them, build business relationships, etc...

Explain these things to people, but not in a sales pitch. Don't try to sell it directly to them. Just tell friends, tell family, tell casual acquaintances. When you're networking or at a holiday event, when you meet someone and they ask, "What did you do for a living?" don't just say you're in accounting, legal, medical, business, consulting, etc...

Tell them "I own a business; this is what we do. This is whom we serve." If the person listening finds value in that, you might have an opportunity, but they also might know someone or refer someone to your business. If you're going to be in business, if you're going to be a self-brand, if you're going to be a hustler, grinder or an entrepreneur, you got to be comfortable telling people who you are, what you do, the value you create, what's distinct about your business, what's good about doing business with you, why people should pay attention, why they should trust you. You have to be comfortable talking about it, not promotionally, not trying to make money, but being confident in what you do by connecting with people. Try to build relationships that eventually could lead to a business transaction. Put things in the correct order. Be confident. Be willing to do it for yourself, your business and your future success. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today!

Strategy Is More Important Than Company Culture #SaturdayMorningHustle

Strategy Is More Important Than Company Culture #SaturdayMorningHustle

The statement that culture is more important than strategy is ridiculously wrong. It's backward, upside down and complete trash. Some very smart people say this a lot, but today I will tell you why they are wrong to consider strategy second and culture first. Because strategy always comes first! "Culture over Strategy" is one of those statements that drives me insane, and it's one of the few that make me come on the podcast and make an actual whole episode about it. I also covered this on my business podcast on the Strategic Growth Podcast https://bit.ly/StrategicPlaylist

We're talking about what's called corporate culture. I like to call it company culture because people sometimes think corporate culture means you need to be a corporation, which means you need hundreds or thousands of employees. Workplace or company culture can happen between 2 people or 7 or 10 or 42 or 90 or 5000. But you don't need hundreds or thousands of employees to have a workplace or company culture.

Every business starts essentially as an idea, typically an idea for a product. We call it the "back of the napkin" where someone pulls out a napkin or a scrap piece of paper and starts sketching or jotting down ideas or something about a product or service that eventually can be developed into a business model and then can be launched and put into the world.

That's where every business starts with a basic, most basic idea of what the product or service is. People don't necessarily identify what they do next as strategy, but it is. As soon as you start talking about your product (we will call it a widget) or your service, whatever it is that ultimately you're selling, you start asking questions: "Who's going to buy it? Who is this for? Who will appreciate our approach to doing what we're doing?"How are we going to sell it to them? What channels? What's the delivery? How are we going to charge them? How are we going to collect our money? How are we going to pay our people?

All of these questions that you ask yourself in the back of the napkin phase as to how to develop a product that can become a business, as you put a business model behind it all to structure and all the stuff that comes with it. All of those questions you ask are the beginning of the strategic planning process. That's strategy. You'll never develop a product, you'll never build a business model, you'll never build a business, you'll never successfully launch a business without a strategic process. Everything that comes after is based on the strategy, including your company culture.

Podcasting Is the Most Authentic Communication Format #SaturdayMorningHustle

Podcasting Is the Most Authentic Communication Format #SaturdayMorningHustle

In 2023, podcasting might be the most impactful, insightful and informative version of communication when you really need to better know, understand or trust someone you are considering collaborating with, hiring or working for. Formal interviews have restraints that the podcast format - solo, interview, group discussion, etc. - just doesn't have. Listening to someone speak on a subject in their own voice and without abundant assistance or notes, allows the listener to best gauge the subject matter expertise of the speaker, their command of the subject and/or their ability to authentically communicate to anyone in the conversation or just listening. Let me know if you agree, disagree or want to add to this conversation. Ask For Help Soon and Often #SaturdayMorningHustle

One big mistake most entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders (myself included) often make is not asking for help. We default to the misguided idea that admitting to others we need advice, assistance or guidance is a sign of failure. But in fact, it's the exact opposite. Being open to help is the smartest thing we can do. Today's episode is a deep dive into a recent social media post on this idea. Let's talk about it.

"Friends who own businesses, ask for help. Don't wait until it's too late. Running a business is tough, even for the smartest and most experienced professionals. Ask your support system to buy, refer or collaborate. Let people help or (at least) offer advice when things START to get tough, not when you are completely out of options. This has happened to good friends recently, who could have been saved if they had only asked for help sooner."

Radical Empathy Challenge + Empathy In Action #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode

Two of the highest rated episode of the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast at Goodpods.com are back-to-back shows from June of 2021 about empathy. Today we flashback to both episodes, because we can all use a little more empathy, understanding and change that comes from communicating with each other in better ways. We start with "We Need More Empathy in Personal and Business Life" (6/19/21) when I issued a Radical Empathy Challenge to everyone listening followed by "Action After Empathy" from the next week (6/26/21) detailing the value of acting upon the idea of empathy we had discussed the week before. Action is required. Change is an opportunity. Success comes from taking advantage of opportunities. Empathy + Action = Success. Let's talk about it! Find these two episodes on the Best Episodes list at https://goodpods.app.link/141Xc11b8yb along with other top-rated shows from the past 6 years. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. No Overnight Sensations! #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback to Ep264 From 1 Year Ago

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS OVERNIGHT SUCCESS! You have to work smart and work hard to earn it, even on the weekend. The keys to building sustainable success are Patience, Consistency, Creativity and Collaboration. Why is it so important to build success instead of becoming instantly successful, famous, rich, etc... in today's social influencer-obsessed world of instant gratification? Because you need to build your successful business, brand, or career from the ground up (not go viral) to have the skills and experience to manage, adjust, sustain, and even rebuild it if necessary. In addition, you need to know the steps and create reliable relationships on the way up to keep yourself at (or near) the top.

  • Why is building success (vs. going viral) so important?
  • The 4 pillars of sustainable success
  • No. 1 is Patience
  • No. 2 is Consistency
  • No 3. is Creativity
  • Don't play it too safe
  • No. 4 Collaboration
  • Creativity + Consistency = Style
  • Use your success to support someone else
