Let's Do It Live (Featuring Casey Bryant - Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips)

Broadcasted live on LinkedIn, Kazuki and Brandon speak with Casey Bryant, the voice of the Everett Silvertips (Western Hockey League).  We talk with Casey about his career from Marist College where he broadcasted hockey games live on Facebook to becoming a recognized voice in North America's top-tier major junior hockey league.  We discussed his cameo on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver while working in Danbury, CT -- for a water treatment facility.  Casey shared what the Seattle sports scene looks like since he made the move in 2021. After the break, Kazuki spoke with Casey about his lifelong fandom for the New York Mets.  We had to discuss the disappearance of Yoenis Cespedes and seeing the Mets compete for a World Series.  Of course, we had to discuss the current state of the New York Mets under new ownership.  Although, we had no clue that right after we finished that Max Scherzer would be traded!

This One Has a Chance. Now Pitching, Number 42.

Kazuki and Brandon deliver a lot of news to start off the show.  Then, we get to the good stuff.  In this episode, time to discuss why the Reds have been doing well and why the Padres have not been doing so well.  Our hosts discuss which team at the bottom of the standings could diminish the hopes of those at the top of the standings.

To close out the episode, Kazuki and Brandon share the greatest walk-up song of all time and remember how baseball came back to life following the events of September 11, 2001.  Fair warning, you might want to keep the tissues handy -- our hosts sure needed a few.

Feels Like the First Time in Arizona. Blacked Out in Iowa.

Kazuki and Brandon deliver a lengthy news update before getting into several stories around the world of baseball.  To start, the hosts discuss how the Field of Dreams Game could create a future of special event site baseball games.  Also, when speaking of Iowa, Brandon shares how Iowa has become the center of the local blackouts discussion across all the professional sports and how that relates to how sports fans watch (or listen) to their favorite teams.  Later on, Kazuki details the AL East and why Milwaukee is far greater than a great pitching staff.  To close, our walk-up song of the show celebrates a great tradition from the University of Wisconsin.

July Trifecta (Draft, Home Run Derby, and All-Star Game) Recap. Trade Deadline Preview and Breakup Mixtape.

With the MLB Draft, Home Run Derby, and All-Star Game all complete, Kazuki and Brandon are here to share their analysis of each of these signature events.  Afterwards, our hosts spend some time to preview what might occur for this month's trade deadline.  Kazuki provides a long list of sellers, buyers, and players that could be moved in late July.  Of those possible sellers, Brandon and Kazuki spend some time talking about the Twins and Cubs -- both of whom came into the All-Star Break on poor performance streaks.  Brandon puts together a mixtape of songs to express the feelings around the trade deadline -- basically, a version of a breakup mixtape.  The episode concludes with some early predictions for the remainder of the season.

The Science of [the] Baseball with Dr. Meredith Wills

Baseball is back! During the lead-up to this year’s Major League Baseball Season, we stumbled upon some rather earth-shattering news. Recently, MLB sent out a memo to all teams regarding the monitoring of possible “doctoring” of baseballs with substances to increase spin rate. Several questions have arisen - most notably, what are the possible causes for the increase in home runs over the past several seasons?

Dr. Meredith Wills, a renowned astrophysicist who's an expert on baseball construction, stops by to discuss her research on the juiced balls with Kazuki and Brandon. She explains how her intrigue in knitting as well as deconstructing the baseball led her to a major discovery that has shaken the whole foundation of the game.

Follow Dr. Meredith Wills on
Twitter as well as on LinkedIn to keep up with her latest news.
