Food & Travel Lessons with Andrew Zimmern

Food & Travel Lessons with Andrew Zimmern

Andrew Zimmern recently shared his advice with me on how to travel more intentionally, cook (and eat) better, and be a more thoughtful consumer of the food industry.

I summarized three of the most important lessons from our conversation that I immediately put into action in my life.

You won't want to miss this incredible advice from the legendary celebrity chef, traveler, and TV host behind Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods and MSNBC's What’s Eating America.

The Ultimate Traveler Mindset

The Ultimate Traveler Mindset

Rolf Potts changed my life. His book Vagabonding inspired my first long-term trip through Africa, Europe, and the Middle East - and I haven't looked back since.

His philosophy will strike a chord whether you are planning an adventure in a far flung corner of the globe or stepping out into your own backyard.

I've known Rolf for a while, but after my most recent conversation with him, I decided to distill the three most important lessons I learned from him.

I hope these ideas will inspire your traveler mindset like it did for me.

How Solo Travel Will Change You

How Solo Travel Will Change You

Traveling with someone will strengthen your bond with them, but traveling solo will strengthen your bond with the place, with yourself, and with the act of travel.

Solo travel started out as a necessity for me - since I couldn't always find people who were willing or able to go on the trips I wanted to take - but I immediately fell in love with solo travel and it's been a core part of who I am.

After traveling through ~100 countries (mostly by myself), here are the 3 most important life lessons I learned from solo travel:

  1. Spending time alone with your thoughts is the most important things you can do to live an intentional life.
  2. The best life experiences can't be planned, but you have to make space for them.
  3. The vulnerability and trust that comes from solo travel fosters a deeper connection to humanity.  Stay curious and see you tomorrow!

Nas Daily: 23M followers + 1,000 straight days of daily videos around the world (LIVE EVENT)

Nas Daily: 23M followers + 1,000 straight days of daily videos around the world (LIVE EVENT)

Nuseir Yassin (Nas) traveled the world and created a 1-minute video EVERY DAY for 1,000 straight days. Over 23 million people around the world followed along and his videos have been watched over 4 BILLION times.

Nas inspired the world with fascinating stories from every corner of the globe and he never took a day off.  He has spread a message of positivity, gave a voice to some of the world’s most important issues, and I believe has had such a positive force on the world as he has replaced hate and fear with love and curiosity for so many people who had misguided perceptions of other cultures, places, and people.

Nas also has an inspiring personal story as a Palestinian that grew up in a small village in Israel, who then got into Harvard, who then got a 6-figure tech job, and who then quit that good life to start making the daily videos that we eventually all came to know and love.

In this live event, we talk about his travels and what he learned from all these stories, as well as his entrepreneurial vision for what he’s doing. We’ll also get very practical with his advice for how to create great content and build a large audience so you can inspire the world with your message.

Andrew Zimmern: Future of Food, Travel Advice, & Keeping Your Tastebuds Traveling (LIVE EVENT)

As the toilet paper crisis gave rise to the quest to track down yeast, it became clear that stay-at-home orders motivated people to turn to cooking for comfort—and an escape. No one understands that connection more intimately than Andrew Zimmern, the legendary chef, traveler, and personality behind Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern’s Driven by Food, and What’s Eating America on MSNBC.

In this exciting
#TravelFromHome Fireside Chat, we’ll discover other cultures through the lens of food and turn to Zimmern to answer the questions that are keeping you up at night. Why are we experiencing this magnetic attraction to the kitchen? Is this phenomenon only occurring stateside or are people in other countries baking more bread than flour mills can handle? Plus, we’ll get his expert take on how to treat our taste buds to new and exciting dishes using a limited pantry.
