Episode 39 - UFC 260, Gordon Ryan is BJJ Brock Lesner, Pat Mac on Self Defense, St. Elmo Cherry Vanilla Bourbon
This week on Rolling Rocks Radio Scott and Jerry continue the shenanigans and talk about the fights at UFC 260. Francis Ngannou is the new UFC Heavyweight Champ, Miranda Maverick won her fight against Gillian Robertson, and the Legacy of John Wayne Parr and the Parr family. The guys also talk about how Gordon Ryan is the BJJ version of Brock Lesner and his recent match against Vagner Rocha. Scott then discusses Pat McNamara's appearance on Warrior Poet Society Network show 100 deadly skills: Combat Edition where Pat Mac talks deescalation and range management and how those two concepts are undervalued in self defense. The guys then tie it into a recent Facebook post where a guy posts his Ring doorbell video where he gets assaulted by his neighbor after running his mouth over text message.  In Jerry's "Seriously?!?" segment this week breaks down the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Ben Askren and who's biting off more than they can chew. Episode 36 - Speeches that BJJ Coaches Give, Yellowstone Select
Hey Fam. You may have noticed that we put this episode up, then took it back down. After a listen after publishing we decided the language on this one got a little out of hand. While this podcast is listed as explicit and we do curse on this show, this one got a little excessive and did not live up to the standard that Jerry and I have for ourselves and the podcast. While the show isn't sponsored nor endorsed by our gym and our coaches, we are representatives of the gym, our coaches, and our teammates. We also decided to take down Jerry's rant. While it was epic and the argument was made in good faith the presentation could have been more polished. Jerry and I have a strong intolerance for stupidity, bigotry, and hatred of any kind and we got a little wound up on this one. This is what happens when brother Cody isn't with us.  In Various and Sundry Scott and Jerry talk the fights this week, the loss of "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler, and how the US turns the symbols of revolt into T-shirts.  Scott and Jerry then turn the spotlight on the coaches after last week's blue belt test episode because you can't get anywhere in BJJ without a great group of coaches. The guys discuss #TotalDefenseMartialArts Head Coach Brian Rose and our Black Belt Dennis Hayse and the speeches that BJJ coaches give BJJ students to keep them on the path.  We also shouted out our friend Mike Green and his new BJJ company Off Your Back BJJ. Mike is putting out some sick Gis and Rashguards with the 80's flare you wish you were around for the first time. Episode 35 - The Belt Test Edition, Uki and Tester Responsibilities, The Blue Belt Blues, Yamazaki 12YO SM
On this week's episode the guys celebrate the recent belt test and Scott and Cody being promoted to Blue Belt and Episode 27 Special Guest Matt Skretta being promoted to Brown Belt! The Rolling Rocks Radio team also discusses what it's like to be a tester, and an Uki, and provide some tips for both to make testing a little easier (or at least know what to expect). We also discuss the "Blue Belt Blues", why we think it happens, and what we think we can do to prevent it. Finally, Scott and Jerry talk a little about the recent fights at UFC 259. As a fitting celebration for this august occasion the bottle for the show was Yamazaki 12 year single malt. Scott's talked about the Big Y a couple of times on the show, and this is the perfect time to break it out! Episode 34 - Joe Lombardo of Scholars and Iron - Investigating Society thru Strength Cultures, Screwball Peanut Butter Whisky
Man, what to say about this episode! Rolling Rocks Radio was honored to host Dr. Joe Lombardo of the Scholars and Iron Podcast on this week's show. Joe is a documentarian of strength cultures, both thru his podcast and his first ever documentary Women Empowered which he created with his partner Chris Praml of Precision Video Solutions.  Joe and the guys dove deep into the cultures that are born out of groups of people taking on physical pursuits and how these groups break political and ideological definition. We also discuss why Joe decided to start Scholars and Iron, how a PhD candidate found his way to the powerlifting platform, and why you shouldn't judge members of strength cultures based on their looks alone. On this week's episode of Rolling Rocks Radio Brother Cody is out sick so Scott and Jerry start off trying to discuss various and sundry and end up discussing crypto, preping, and the best way to truss a pedophile you've shot for the bounty. Once the show got back on the rails the boys reviewed the fights from UFC 258, how Miranda Maverick just can't catch a break, the upcomming Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix, and Icy Mike's AWESOME Chewy impression and his video on how BJJ may not have been CREATED for small people but it's a great system FOR smaller people.  Icy Mike's video can be found here -  BJJ is Not Designed for Small People... Episode 21 - The Fatherhood Edition, Cody and Jerry talk fatherhood, Early Times Bottled in Bond
We've had some big events in the Rolling Rocks Radio family. Brother Jerry's son Dylan turned 18 in October and repeat guest Brother Cody welcomed his new son Roman into the world in October as well. These two august occasions happened within the same week. That coincidence can't be overlooked so we had Cody back on and he and Jerry discussed fatherhood, what they wanted for their sons, and their experiences as fathers. Things got pretty deep and The Darksiders showed a little bit of their softer side. All the while Scott plied them with Early Times Bottled in Bond.  Jerry can be found on the socials at: Instashizzle - @ArmentroutJerry Twitter - @jerryajr365 Facebook - @jerry.armentrout.7 Cody can also be found on the socials: Instashizzle - @codycarter589 FaceBook - cody.carter.589 If you want to contact us with feedback, suggestions, or just to say "Hi" you can e-mail us at rollingrocksradio@protonmail.com Rolling Rocks Radio is also live on the socials. There's also a little correction needed. Brother Cody brought in a video titled "Mike Tyson wantdss to fight Joe Budden during his LIVE podcast (things Get Intense)" from YouTube. It was supposed to be an excerpt from Iron Mike's podcast Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson where Mike goes off on fellow podcaster Joe Budden. This video was a fair amount of the discussion in the third segment of the show. After a little investigation it turns out this video is an edit and TOTALLY changes the interaction between Mike Tyson and his guests. As we mention in the show the link to the video is below, but we're also going to add the link to the actual podcast so everyone interested can hear the actual exchange.  Video - Mike Tyson wantdss to fight Joe Budden during his LIVE podcast (things Get Intense) Actual Podcast - Joe Budden | Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson | Ep 52 Ground Shark Coffee Two Year Anniversary Blend If you want to contact us with feedback, suggestions, or just to say "Hi" you can e-mail us at rollingrocksradio@protonmail.com Rolling Rocks Radio is also live on the socials. Episode 17 - Cody joins us for a Saturday Quickie, Quintet, Shit Talk, Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition
Well, this one kinda got away from us! Brother Cody from Episode 15 joined us to talk about the fights but we had to cut it short.
