We are not stronger than He, are we?  23 All things are permitted, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted, but not all things [h]build people up. 24 No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his [i]neighbor. 25 Eat anything that is sold in the meat market without asking questions, for the sake of conscience; 26 for the earth is the Lord’s, and [j]all it contains. 27 If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions, for the sake of conscience. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience; 29 Now by “conscience” I do not mean your own, but the other person’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience? 30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered about that for which I give thanks?  31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God. 32 Do not offend Jews or Greeks, or the church of God; 33 just as I also please everyone in all things, not seeking my own benefit but the benefit of the many, so that they may be saved.

Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord? If I am not an apostle to others, at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.  My defense to those who examine me is this: Do we not have a right to eat and drink? Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? Or do only Barnabas and I have no right to refrain from working? Who at any time serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not consume some of the milk of the flock?  I am not just asserting these things according to human judgment, am I? Or does the Law not say these things as well? For it is written in the Law of Moses: “You shall not muzzle the ox while it is threshing.” God is not concerned about oxen, is He? Or is He speaking entirely for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because the plowman ought to plow in hope, and the thresher to thresh in hope of sharing in the crops. If we sowed spiritual things in you, is it too much if we reap material things from you? If others share the right over you, do we not more? Nevertheless, we did not use this right, but we endure all things so that we will cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ. Do you not know that those who perform sacred services eat the food of the temple, and those who attend regularly to the altar have their share [h]from the altar? So also the Lord directed those who proclaim the gospel to get their living from the gospel.  But I have used none of these things. And I have not written these things so that it will be done so in my case; for it would be better for me to die than that. No one shall make my boast an empty one! For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast about, for I am under compulsion; for woe to me if I do not preach the gospel. For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a commission nonetheless. What, then, is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may offer the gospel without charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.  For though I am free from all people, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may gain more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, I became as one under the Law, though not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law; to those who are without the Law, I became as one without the Law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might gain those who are without the Law. To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak; I have become all things to all people, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.  Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way as not to run aimlessly; I box in such a way, as to avoid hitting air; but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Knowledge [a]puffs up, but love [b]edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.  4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.  7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. 8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.  9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a [c]stumbling block to those who are weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? 11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 1 Corinthians 5:1-2 (NKJV) We don't want to get too involved in their drama. Churches FLEE when marriages in Crisis - Push In Let the pastor deal with someone else's sin. It ain't my problem. For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (NASB) Sin In Your BODY - Sin Is Your Business (1 COR 5:5) deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.  Kingdom accountability must be applied in the Spirit.   WHY TURN SEXUALLY IMMORAL OVER TO SATAN?  Unrepentant sin damages the Body. Jesus will protect His Church - Romans 1:28-32 (NKJV) Reprobate Minds Sinner lives for flesh – Satan destroys sinners’ flesh (live by sword, die by sword) 2 Corinthians 4:4 tells Satan is god of this world. Choose Sin - Choose Satan - CHOOSE WISELY. Satan will destroy the flesh, but no control over man's spirit.  The goal of Church removal is not retaliation, but rehabilitation: to convict the man of his sin to encourage repentance and restoration. Brothers, if anyone is caught in any sin, you who are spiritual [that is, you who are responsive to the guidance of the Spirit] are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness [not with a sense of superiority or self-righteousness], keeping a watchful eye on yourself,   so that you are not tempted as well.  Galatians 6:1 (Amplified Bible)    Paul then warns about a little leaven in 1 COR 5:6-8 - It's better to purge out than ruin whole lump and start over.   The FLOOD removed all leaven (sin) and Started Over. NOTE: You must be a good steward of God's Church. Cannot co-exist with sin.

The Watering  We struggle as a Body when immaturity mistakes the pastor's fame with the gospel's truth. They are NOT the same.  The Working  We struggle as a Body when we want believers to look like us instead of Jesus. Discipleship is not telling new believers what you think - Teach them to read and understand what the Bible reveals.  The Warning  We struggle as a Body when we serve half heartedly or give God our leftovers.   Christians will not have salvation judges, but we will be assessed of our work for eternal rewards.   We don't have an eternal perspective about kingdom rewards.     HOW TO HANDLE STRUGGLES?  Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve. Colossians 3:23-24 (Amplified Bible)  You get what you give Are You Sowing Kingdom Seeds With Expectation Of Kingdom Fruit?  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the  Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:8 (NKJV) Effort is a heart condition. Once Body grows, the integrity of the foundation will either support it or fracture. Be a good steward of God's kingdom. Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor]. 1 Peter 4:10 (Amplified Bible)

Sectarianism Is Carnal 

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?   

I was saved with Milk:   

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."   

John 3:16 (NKJV)   

But I didn't understand the Meat:   

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."   

John 3:17-18 (NKJV)   

NOTE: Evangelists use gospel Milk so Non-Believers can easily digest the truth of Jesus Christ.   - BUT Church must equip the Body of Believers to digest the same gospel message as Meat so they mature through discipleship and can / will go out and make disciples.   I was made a Convert and not a Disciple  My Denomination Focus on growth of congregation - NOT the person.  Stunted spiritual maturity for years.  Almost walked away because I knew there SHOULD be more to faith life, but ONLY heard same pulpit jokes motivational verses weekly.  Disillusioned by HUNGER

Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.   HOW DO WE STRUGGLE IN TODAY'S CULTURAL ELITISM? Intimidated by worldly elite and learned? Jesus called them - Pharisees. Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and Pharisees have seated themselves in Moses’ chair [of authority as teachers of the Law]; so practice and observe everything they tell you, but do not do as they do; for they preach [things], but do not practice them. The scribes and Pharisees tie up heavy loads [that are hard to bear] and place them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves will not lift a finger [to make them lighter]. Matthew 23:1-4 (Amplified Bible)  SPIRITUAL MATURITY IS NOT MEASURED BY INFORMATION,  BUT BY APPLICATION  - Do others make us feel Less Than when they espouse Christianeese?  - Stop you from volunteering at church? "What if the three-year-old ask about Dispensationalism?"  Be Real - Say I Don't Know But I Will Find Out! - Afraid to prophesy – Worried?  Misplaced – Seek social direction from culture’s proud and arrogant SOMETIMES - even Spiritual Direction.   Mind God's Mind to Mind Your Mind  NOTE: Paul addresses THE FOOLISHNESS OF HUMAN WISDOM that comes from the arrogance of elitism and performance-based demands of self-reliance.  Stephen Hawking - Brilliant theoretical physicist. "There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."   WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT THE FOOLISHNESS OF HUMAN WISDOM? 1 Corinthians 1:18-24 (NASB) (1 Corinthians 1:18) For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.      NOTE: Paul teaches everything God foretold in OT was accomplished at the Cross: - The "Message of the Cross," in contrast to speech of human wisdom.  - The Cross produces opposite reactions of people perishing (headed to hell) and those being saved (headed to glory). - Bible is consistent about separation – Genesis 1:4 – Light from dark / Matthew 3:12 – Wheat from chaff / Matthew 25:31-33 – Sheep from goats  (1 Corinthians 1:19) For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.”

Denominationalism.  - Center for the Study of Global Christianity shows more than 200 in U.S. and 45,000 globally. Paul doesn’t mince words when talking about saboteurs:  Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.  For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. Romans 16:17-18 (NASB)  Baptism in Spirit is a Baptism in Unity.

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and yet you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship.”  Jesus said to her, “Believe Me, woman, that a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.  You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews.  But a time is coming, and even now has arrived, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” Jesus said to her, “I am He, the One speaking to you.”

WHAT IS CHRISTIAN WORSHIP? Scripture Is Clear What Worship IS and ISN’T  God Is Worship - Worship is not a band or popular music. Worship is your posture before God. MARRIAGE Between what you see in VISIBLE realm and what God gives in the INVISIBLE realm – (2 Kings 6:17)  And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.  - Hebrew and Greek words for Worship = bow down before, kneeling or face down to pay reverence or make petition. - When the Bible repeats – it’s important. Worship is used 8,629 times.  - Still think it’s about music? What It Is: “To him be the glory forever. Amen. I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 11:36–12:1 -       Glory to God is reflected by Priorities -       Does God hold the Glory spot in your life?  NOTE: If you truly Worship God, then you make sacrifices  - God get Firstfruits in Worship like ABEL or leftovers in obligation like CAIN?  Genesis 4 – Cain’s heart was bitter and selfish – God corrected and encouraged – STILL he killed his brother. - Biblical worship exposes true nature of hearts.   Now I say this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously. Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NASB)  - Refuse to submit and bow down in worship, you’re no better than Cain.  Worship Through God-Pleasing Sacrifices Through him, therefore, let us offer God a sacrifice of praise continually. For this is the natural product of lips that acknowledge his name. But don’t forget doing good and sharing with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16 (Complete Jewish Bible)   What Is Worship in Spirit and in Truth? God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:24 (ESV) True Worship is love in action.  - Worship says I surrender all!!! Do You? - Worship doesn’t benefit you by the GAIN. Benefits you by the SURRENDER.  - You GIVE in Worship what first fruit God gave you and He gives back an Orchard.
