Host Shireen invites Devi to the podcast to talk about her experience advancing racial equity at her job and in her personal life. Hear about the challenges, strategies to overcome those challenges, and sources of inspiration to continue working toward racial equity. Devi Johnson is currently a project management consultant helping companies navigate large and complex projects. Devi focuses on driving impact and positive change in her workplace and in her community. She is leading her (mostly white) office as their diversity, equity, and inclusion champion and has worked with multiple community non-profits. Outside of work, Devi enjoys cooking, hiking, and reading.

Max Mankin is the co-founder and CTO of Modern Electron, an energy technology startup in Seattle working to decarbonize home energy use. He has a decade of experience building and leading teams, designing and characterizing semiconductors and energy systems. Max earned a BS with honors in chemistry from Brown University and a PhD in physical chemistry from Harvard University, where he held fellowships from the Hertz and National Science Foundations. Max is an inventor on a few dozen patents pending and granted. His accolades include one of Inc. Magazine’s most brilliant entrepreneurs under 30 (2017) and Forbes 30 Under 30 (2016).

Jeremy Schifberg works on improving healthcare delivery – which means he works on homelessness, food insecurity, and many other issues found outside of a clinic or hospital. He found himself working on homelessness – one of Seattle’s most divisive and challenging issues – because of its unavoidable connection to good health, and now he and fellow Shaper Shireen work in support of the Third Door Coalition, one of Seattle’s most promising new initiatives dedicated to addressing chronic homelessness. In this episode of Shaping Seattle, Jeremy and Shireen talk chronic homelessness, permanent supportive housing, and the power of storytelling and cultural change.

Aadithya (Aadu) Prakash is an environmentalist trapped in an engineer’s body. And he’s looking to collaborate with professionals from other sectors to build physical devices that help both our people and our planet.
