Welcome to Dp-I-Y, where DIY is not what we're good at, but it is how we make our podcast. Join Senseless Apprentice and Mr. Verano as we walk through an issue of Cable & Deadpool and occasionally try to give useful tips and pointers about your possible DIY projects, though we're generally less informative than we would like to be... but we are pretty knowledgeable regarding comic related topics, if a little opinionated. Back in the Saddle Again!!

Back in the Saddle Again!!

Saying we’ll record more often and then disappearing for an extended period seems to be our podcast’s first trope. Verano and I have been gone so long we have over six months of released content to discuss. Guardians 3, the Flash, Blue Beetle, Ahsoka, Echo, the theater vs. streaming debate, the writers strike, and more get some airtime in this episode. Also, is anyone else tired of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend? (Hope our 44 bots enjoy the show!!)

Apparent Exhaustion

Apparent Exhaustion

In one last “check in” episode before our Civil War celebration in July, we discuss Titans and the Flash (CW) and their conclusions, the Gotham Knights show that neither of us watched (it’s cancelled now), and Across the Spider-Verse. Then we discuss the time that Peter Parker’s body was taken over by Otto Octavius’s mind in the pages of Superior Spider-Man. Our exhaustion from outside factors may be apparent in our discussion, but we hope you enjoy anyway.

...And We're Back!

...And We're Back!

Holy F'n S---, Batman! Another accidental six month break?!? Apologies, loyal listeners (who we can no longer call our "dirty dozen" since different analytics indicate there might be many more of you out there than we realized). Moving on, in this episode we discuss the accidental break, potential future plans, comic book related current events, and the Avengers vs. X-Men vs. Eternals crossover event (with a minor digression into the world of professional wrestling). We had fun talking about it, maybe you will enjoy listening to it.

(Something I noticed recently... all of my favorite punk musicians who taught me in their lyrical content to question authority and resist the capitalist system of exploitation have houses/property... and at this point many have businesses or other ventures for making additional money outside of the band... a good number of them are millionaires... and unlike Wesley Snipes and the Situation there are no rumblings about tax avoidant behaviors, so they must be participating in the tribute to the governing authority portion of the capitalist system of exploitation... punk's not dead, it's a living genre filled with gaslighters and the droogs who aspire to their station... but I'm still going to listen to NOFX on my drive home from work today)

Slightly Past Their Prime Current Events

As I attempt to read through the entire Secret Wars event of 2015, we decided to hold off on another installment of Cable & Deadpool to bring you a conversation about the Deadpool 3 announcement, She-Hulk, James Gunn and the DCU, and Halloween Ends (among other things). Thank you to our dedicated dozen of fans, this one (like all of our episodes) is for you!!

The Boring Parts of Building an Empire

The Boring Parts of Building an Empire

We once again regale you with our take on comic book news that is somewhere between three weeks and a month out of date. This time, we discuss the completely underwhelming Thunderbolts team reveal that nobody cares about at the time of the episode release. Then we return to "As the Domino Rolls" (AKA Cable & Deadpool issue 29, "The Domino Principle, Part II: The Politics of Fear"), the soap opera surrounding the negotiations between Cable, the Ultimatum Guard, and the Rumeki Resistance Movement. Not as in the political drama of watching Cable annex the first colony of Providence, this is a half Deadpool comic!! Also, Domino does a lot of standing around and staring at Cable. Then we have "Five Takeaways from Mutant X", where we discuss the title that ran from 1998-2001 where Alex Summers finds himself in an alternate dimension where stuff is supposed to be "darker", but it's really just a slightly different version of the same.

Coming up: Cable and Deadpool participate in the superhero civil war of 2006-2007 and Five Takeaways from 2015's Secret Wars.

An Almost Immediately Irrelevant Conversation

An Almost Immediately Irrelevant Conversation

In the wake of the cancellation of the Batgirl movie, we had a recorded conversation about that event and what it might mean for the fate of the Flash (the movie, not the tv show... although I think we talked about the cancellation of the tv show too). Something like two days after we recorded, the news broke that Ezra Miller had issued apologies for his behavior and was meeting with WB executives about next steps. So while we had both pretty much thought that the Flash would be going the way of Batgirl, apparently we were wrong (which makes large portions of this recording pretty much irrelevant). You may listen if you like the dulcet sounds of our sweet voices, but that warning is out there. We'll be back in September with the next installment of Cable's efforts to build an empire and five takeaways from Havok's Mutant X series. We hope to see you then!!

Cable's First Time (Building an Empire)

Cable's First Time (Building an Empire)

In which we talk about stuff that was relevant about a month ago to the world of comic books (sorry - it's been a busy month, loyal listener). Don't worry, it's mostly discussion of Thor: Love and Thunder and Jake's general sermonizing about something relatively unimportant, so if you want to skip to the read through that's just fine with most of us here at Dp-I-Y. Then we get to the issue of the day - Cable & Deadpool issue 28: The Domino Principle part 1, "For King and Country" - and see how Domino's poor decision making skills lead to Cable having a baby colony to call his own! We close with five takeaways from the first Gorr the God-Butcher stories in the Thor comics (referring to "The God Butcher" from Thor: God of Thunder #1-5, "God Bomb" from Thor: God of Thunder #7-11, and the issue that comes in between but isn't officially a part of either story). How does movie Gorr differ from comic Gorr, and do we really think those differences are a bad thing? How is Gorr similar to one of Jake's favorite C-level heroes from DC comics? And how impactful was Gorr to the Thor comics of the last ten years, anyway? You'll have to listen to find out.

There are no Father/Son Kamehameha’s in Marvel Comics!!

In which we talk about the second part of the prequel to the then-upcoming X-Men story arc Blood of Apocalypse; Cable & Deadpool #27 "With Eyes Open". We find out why Cable blames himself for almost every life that Apocalypse has ever taken, as well as why Irene Merryweather is the worst version of the Lois Lane archetype. We also talk about Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, the Thor trailer we both have seen, the Black Adam trailer only one of us has seen, and whether we believe Deadpool 3 is actually going to happen... In our new "5 Takeaways" segment, we shamelessly attempt to connect to Obi-Wan Kenobi interest by talking about the War of the Bounty Hunters from current Star Wars comics. The Biggest Retcon Mistake of Cable's Life

In which we discuss Moon Knight, the cancellation of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, and which of us has seen Dr. Strange by the time of recording (the other will see it soon, we promise). We walk through Cable & Deadpool issue 26 - "Blood of Apocalypse Prequel: Born Again Part 1 - With Eyes Closed"; the start of a story whose main purpose was to set up an event in a better selling title. We end with a discussion of the "Age of Konshu", talking about five takeaways from the Avengers (2018) story (issues 33-37).

Holy uploads, Batman! Two in one month?!?

Yes - we're getting back into the pace we hope to maintain for the foreseeable future (thank God), but whether or not this is good for our listeners is for you to decide. On this episode, Senseless (with permission from Verano) sidesteps the issue of why we were gone for so long (sorry, dear listeners, but I'm not ready to be that open with you yet...), and then we talk about a bunch of comic book related properties. No Way Home, the Batman, the Guardians of Justice, everything is on the table for this one... but if you want to know if we spoke meaningfully about a comic property that you're excited about... well, you'll just have to listen to the episode to find out!

Captain Nathan Christopher Summers America the Aeolist

Captain Nathan Christopher Summers America the Aeolist

We're back after an unscheduled 2 month hiatus (more about that in the next episode). This time we jump right in to a chapter in Cable & Deadpool in which Captain America shows off his espionage skills... and they are surprisingly lacking considering his longtime friendship with one Director Nick Fury. We also find out some more about Cable's past in the future, and Deadpool makes a minor cameo in a book whose title bears his name. Then, I try to rope Verano into fixing some messes my kids made around the house... but I'm feeling a little woozy. You'll have to listen to the episode to find out why...

The Matrix Resurrections, Personal Fan Theories, and Marvel's Villainous

Welcome to our first podcast of 2022... ONLY four weeks late (seriously... we recorded on January 3rd, but it was rendered unusable thanks to Senseless's accidents of babbling...). Anyways, join Mr. Verano and the Senseless Apprentice as we discuss the newest Matrix movie and Senseless's own personal theory about the origins of the Merovingian (aren't you glad we waited until after the movie had been taken off HBOMax to talk about the movie?).

Afterward we review Marvel's Villainous, a board game that allows the player to take on the role of a Marvel villain in a race to enact their evil plan first. The game was a lot of fun to play... the conversation? Well, we'll let you decide.

Peter and Wade have a Meet Cute

Peter and Wade have a Meet Cute

On this episode we cover a more momentous occasion than usual, dear listener, as Mr. Verano and Senseless have the privilege to talk to you about the time that Peter Parker met Wade Wilson by getting thrown off the Queensboro Bridge (it's kinda his turn considering all of the times his girlfriends have been thrown from comparable structures). But seriously, Cable & Deadpool issue 24 - "Sticky Situations" - marks the introduction of Wade Wilson to his "special boy" Spider-Man (see Gwenpool Strikes Back issue 2 to get the reference). One of us also bloviates regarding the Eternals at some point (thankfully with minimal spoilers, but there's your warning if you were waiting to see the movie that has been out so long it is almost ready to be put on the company streaming service), hopefully you find it minimally tortuous. We close with an attempt to make homemade Advent wreaths, but what's the problem with that three leaf bough Senseless found that is a beautifully festive red and green? Shang Chi, What If...?, and the Critical Reaction to the Eternals

Shang Chi, What If...?, and the Critical Reaction to the Eternals

Well, this is a first... we waited so long to release the spoiler filled discussion about a comic related property that the movie release on the associated streaming service accidentally made the property relevant again (so I waited a few days to let Shang Chi's release on Disney+ go stale because the idea of lucking into good timing seemed off for a couple of amateurs like us). We also talk about What If...? and the Marvel fan freak out about the critical aggregate score of the Eternals that all the DCEU fans found all too familiar. It's a wonderfully mediocre discussion of Marvel comics related stuff, with tons of spoilers. Listen at your own risk.

The Underwhelming Reveal of Cable's New Power Conduit

The Underwhelming Reveal of Cable's New Power Conduit

In which Mr. Verano and Senseless discuss a poor example of a spouse (thankfully briefly) before turning their attention to Cable & Deadpool issue 23 - "Bosom Buddies Part 4: Fighting Myself". It should come as no surprise that Senseless still has little respect for the Cat, Verano still does not like Cyclops, and absolutely no one cares about Comcast (the comic book villain, not the cable company). This is the issue where we finally find out just who is hiding behind the Black Box armor - and the answer is so underwhelming I'm sure no one who is reading this has realized I spoiled the reveal in the previous sentence...

We finish by talking about the best way to carve a pumpkin - Verano probably has the better method, though in a way his carving technique is really Senseless' as well. What do I mean by that? You'll have to listen to find out!!

A Spoiler Filled Discussion About the Suicide Squad

We're finally back with another spoiler laden discussion about a current comic book property, but this time it's all your fault if you haven't seen the Suicide Squad yet since it is no longer on HBO Max. But as we say here on Dp-I-Y, good timing is for the professionals, and that ain't us. I'll Have the Prolonging of the Re-Veal Parmigiana

I'll Have the Prolonging of the Re-Veal Parmigiana

Welcome back to the pod (after an accidental month off)! We address the delay in releasing a new episode, but not until the last segment of the show. Before that, Mr. Verano gives Senseless a hand at understanding a particularly frustrating series of dreams, though it may have been a wasted effort... Then, we take a look at Cable & Deadpool issue 22 - "Bosom Buddies Part 3: Crack the Internet in Half" - in which Senseless expresses a newfound dislike (to put it mildly) of the Cat while Verano expresses his well-known dislike of the X-Man Cyclops (and then other things happen, too, but not the one thing that the entire issue seems to be building toward). Afterwards we dig into our mailbag for some totally not made up listener questions (though if any of you actually did ever send any real inquiries to us we would probably make the same implications and jokes that we do on this episode to protect the anonymity of the listener). We tackle topics like why our episodes seem to have random release dates and how to remove water rings from a coffee table. There is a third question, too, but Verano won't let Senseless answer it. Want to know why? You'll have to listen to find out!!

Pop Goes the Weasel

Pop Goes the Weasel

We open this one by beating the "very few listeners" joke to death (we promise to stop soon... maybe), and then we get into discussing Cable & Deadpool issue 21, "Bosom Buddies Part 2: Friendly Fire". The one time Heroes for Hire drop by since the question of the issue is whether Deadpool's buddy Weasel did something bad to the Rand-Meachum servers, and apparently Luke Cage (the big Avenger-man now) owed Danny Rand a favor. The BAD Girls are still around, too, but you're probably tired of hearing Senseless complain about their depiction (I'm sure he gets a shot or two in this episode as well). Also, more C-list guest stars show up by the end of the issue (but you will have to listen to find out who they are, our hint: Deadpool thinks the chest tattoo of one of the guest stars is "so cool"). Then, one of us (I'm sure you can guess who), manages to screw up the safest of fireworks as we try to safely get rid of his leftovers from Independence Day (as we here at Dp-I-Y always say, good timing is for professional podcasts). So which one is it (smoke bombs, snakes, or glow sticks - yes, I'm sure he could mess that up, too)? You'll have to listen to find out.

The Gratuitous Cleavage Issue

The Gratuitous Cleavage Issue

In this episode, we begin by finding out the results of our attempt to connect with listeners (as of this release, it hasn't gone well) and talk a little bit about things going on in the comic book adjacent realm. In this weeks issue of Cable & Deadpool (issue 20 - "Bosom Buddies Part 1: B.A.D. to the Bone"), we are treated to a pretty fun story accentuated by C-List guest stars (Black Mamba, Asp, and Diamondback, AKA the B.A.D. Girls) with art that makes me miss the subtlety of "Thor-Lite" Prester John and his "Stellar Rod". While Cable hangs out on Providence, Deadpool is hired (among many other people) to steal something that won't really be explained until next issue - the Dominus Objective. It's a something that acts like a thing doing a different thing, or something like that...

Then, Verano and Senseless work through cleaning up the mess left in the driveway created by our oil change efforts in the previous episode. So why is Verano going to leave Senseless to complete the job himself? You'll have to listen to find out!

By the time they actually get around to bringing the mutants into the MCU, Dafne Keen will be old enough to be a bad ass "All New" Wolverine.)

Whose Origin Sucked Worse? (Happy Father's Day!)

Whose Origin Sucked Worse? (Happy Father's Day!)

An ironic coincidence: as we return to the main Cable & Deadpool storyline (Cable & Deadpool issue 19 ""Enema of the State Epilogue/Bosom Buddies Prologue: Why, Where I Was Your Age...") we start with a story that includes suspected patricide... just in time for a Father's Day release. It's an exciting tale of Cable and Deadpool sitting in a bar in a small Pennsylvania town doing their best to tell each other as little as possible while discussing where they both come from. Anyway, other comic book related properties being released for the summer season are also discussed, but probably not in a way that will provide any meaningful information to our discerning listener (our non-discerning listener, on the other hand, won't care). Oh, we also have our first listener question - "Who do you think is the most overrated superhero?" (send your responses to the email listed below, or hit either of us up on the Instagram). House of Mmmm - The Mutant Holocaust and a Return to Relative Normalcy

In which we interpret dreams in a mercifully short cold open, then complete our coverage of House of M with issues 7 and 8. One issue is the penultimate battle the entire miniseries has been building toward (with a continuity altering climax that forever changed the Scarlet Witch), while the other is the fallout (with a continuity altering revelation that forever changed Wolverine). These are probably the most significant issues of Marvel history that will ever be poorly summarized on this podcast, so listen at your own peril.

Then, in our cooking segment, we rectify a mistake and use our last episode in our food based event to make Deadpool's favorite Mexican food, chimichangas. Senseless brought the hot sauce, so why is Verano disappointed in his choice? You'll have to listen to find out!

House of Mmmm - Re-Assembling the Team (For the First Time Ever)

House of Mmmm - Re-Assembling the Team (For the First Time Ever)

Before we read through issues 5 and 6 of House of M, Senseless takes some time to complain about some other podcast he listens to and Mr. Verano provides the appropriate amount of attention to his commentary - none (outside of the time it took to listen to the meandering gibberish). Then we get to the meat of the story as Wolverine, the Human Resistance, Emma Frost, and Layla Miller begin to build their team in order to attack the House of M and re-align the world to the way it was. But weighing on the minds of all is the question of whether "saving" the world is even possible.

Then, because our timing is terrible (as it is now the 8th of May), Senseless and Verano host a skit themed (in it's own way) around a holiday whose popularity in the United States is mainly due to the efforts of Mexican beer companies to sell their wares to customers north of the border. House of Mmmm - What's Your Name?

As we here on Dp-I-Y continue to walk through the House of M event of 2005 (issues 3 and 4), Mr. Verano and the Senseless Apprentice provide the additional "service" of stumbling through news from the worlds of professional wrestling and comic books for our listener (no, I did not forget the "s"). In the wake of the previous cooking based skit, Senseless also takes the time to apologize for assuming improv would be easy (his yelling during the Aji skit could have, and should have, been funnier).

Speaking of the cooking segment, we continue to explore the food based ancestry of our hosts - this time by cooking Pierogis and Kielbasa in the way that SA learned from his Polish grandmother. On this episode, we begin our four episode "House of Mmmm" event. Now that everyone has moved on to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, Senseless and Verano begin a walk through of 2005's House of M event! (Missing the mark - anyone can do it, but it takes a true amateur to do it so spectacularly!)

Anyway, we discuss issues 1 and 2 of the cross over event that provided some of the source material for WandaVision (but had so much more to do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

Then, in our special cooking segment, Senseless tries to make up for his ignorant behavior on the last episode by asking Verano to make a dish that has special significance for him, so the guys are making aji to go on some empanadas. Then we read through Cable & Deadpool issue 18, "Enema of the State, Part IV: Bringing up Baby" in which the entire storyline closes with a bunch of pseudo-scientific explanations from Forge (the resident "not Tony Stark" cameo for the mutant characters) to make up for the fact that Mr. Nicieza was most likely told by Marvel to come up with some way his characters interact with a major event that they have pretty much no part of (and the baby of that directive was "Enema of the State"... and Cable). Also, Mini is still absent, so if you see him please let him know we're sorry if our assignment to infiltrate "Pa Kent" Sinister went awry...

Anyways, in the spirit of our upcoming "House of Mmmm" storyline break we try our hand in the kitchen. More specifically, Mr. Verano has made something seasonal. But why is he getting offended by Senseless' commentary about the dish? You'll have to listen to find out!

Living on the Edge (of Someone Else's Story)

Living on the Edge (of Someone Else's Story)

In which we have lost one of our hosts (we sent him to be an Agent of Mr. Sinister - not the 616 one, an alternate version that is strangely reminiscent of a pale Pa Kent - but he never came back). If you see him, please let us know. So, Mr. Verano and Senseless muddle on and discuss their thoughts (mostly Senseless's) about the WWE (that nobody asked for) and WandaVision (that, seriously, no one asked for). There are no real spoilers, but that probably makes the segment worse... Anyways, we then move on to recap our current chapter of the story of Cable & Deadpool, issue 17; "Enema of the State, Part III: House of Mmmm" (what a crazy coincidence - that's what we plan to call our upcoming recap of the House of M!), where Deadpool, Cannonball, and Siryn enjoy a Nebraska barbeque with... Mr. Sinister? Get ready for an odd cameo from the "mutant Mengele" himself as we recap a story that probably would have never been told if Marvel Comics management hadn't told Mr. Nicieza to connect whatever the hell he was doing on that comic nobody reads to the main attraction of the next couple weeks (back in 2004). It is thoroughly mediocre - but a fun read nonetheless. We end with a skit with much less bodily harm than our last one - so why does Verano seem to feel like he's still getting the short end of the stick? You'll have to listen to find out.

Prelude to the Tie-In

Prelude to the Tie-In

In which we begin the episode talking about WandaVision with (hopefully) no spoilers. We mention a few other things too, maybe go off on an unnecessary tangent, and foreshadow an upcoming Deadpool-It-Yourself event that none of you asked for but we are going to press on with anyways. Then we cover Cable & Deadpool issue 16, "Enema of the State, Part II: What if...?", in which Deadpool travels to new and interesting locales to fight various versions of his good buddy Cable (who isn't acting like much of a "good buddy" in any of these places) with Cannonballs and Siryn of X-Force following in his wake (at a "give Deadpool time to explore the landscape by himself" three-minute delay). The issue ends with the beginning of a tie-in to a story that should be very relevant to WandaVision loving listeners; the House of M. We close with a skit where Mr. Verano makes a beautiful mural to commemorate the upcoming Super Bowl, but why is his head bleeding? You'll have to listen to find out!!

Fallout from the Side story... or are WE the Side story?!

Fallout from the Side story... or are WE the Side story?!

Just kidding with that title, we know we would have to gain so many more listeners to even be considered within six degrees of being adjacent to the side story! Anyway, we once again begin the episode with talking about stuff from the previous few weeks worth of comic book related property news (and we may have overlapped with some of the stuff we talked about last time... oops! Good thing we haven't quit our day jobs!). Then we take a walk through Cable & Deadpool issue 15, "Enema of the State, Part I: Killer Clowns". We get some more knock-off Beta Ray Bill (AKA Prester John) action, but also some interesting (and one generic, Warren Worthington III) cameos from AN Age of Apocalypse (but not the one we all know and love for all the wrong reasons...). We end with a skit about a misguided attempt to honor a great figure of American history, the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr., but why does SA need to replace a windshield? You'll have to listen to find out!

Back to the Character Development

Back to the Character Development

If you want to skip the earlier stages of our podcast figuring itself out, this might be the episode to start with. After reckoning with and then ignoring our decision to remember that we are a narrative and not a topical podcast, we promptly discuss Wonder Woman 84 and the passing of Jon Huber, known to fans of AEW (where he was just beginning to rise) as Brodie Lee and fans of WWE (where he was woefully underused) as Luke Harper. RIP. Anyway, then we walk through Cable & Deadpool issue 14, "A Murder in Paradise, Part II: Don't Ask, Don't Tell". Lot's of the Prester John action we know you were craving in this issue. We end with Mini, Agent of the EPA, and Mr. Verano coming to my house to help me put up my plastic Christmas tree. How does it go wrong? You'll have to listen to find out!

Dying to Explore Providence

Dying to Explore Providence

This week we realize too late that we are a narrative podcast and not a topical one, and as a result you (dear listener, because according to Anchor there is probably only one of you out there) get to suffer through the comic book news of a couple of weeks ago... Merry Christmas! I don't remember what Verano and I talked about, but I do know we will both miss Tommy "Tiny" Lister, the best president the galaxy has ever had (Rest in Power, Zeus). Then we read through Cable & Deadpool issue 13, "A Murder in Paradise, Part 1: Flaw and Disorder". To finish the episode, we have our first of two holiday themed skits. This week, Mr. Verano has helped me put up my Christmas lights... So why are we talking about it in Mr. Mini's courtroom?

Askani'son Awakening

Askani'son Awakening

Once again, the episode has primarily slipped my mind. We talk about stuff, Verano and I. Then we read through the epic conclusion of the epilogue story to "The Burnt Offering" (Thirty Pieces Part 2: True Confessions). That's a fun ride. Then we skip the DIY for another alternate format thing. You can skip it, if you want. See you next week!

A Little Help from a Friend

A Little Help from a Friend

Due to ADHD and technical difficulties, this episode's release is has been slightly delayed (sorry to our listener). Anyways, thanks to the time delay the memory of what we discussed in our news segments is fleeting (maybe something happened with Deadpool 3, or the Mandalorian, or something... I don't remember). We read through Cable & Deadpool issue 11 ("Thirty Pieces - A Story in Two Parts, Part 1: Predator & Pray"). Then we eschew our normal DIY segment for something more practical in what can be a lonesome holiday season; we discuss our own emotional struggles and provide suggestions for where people can turn for help if they are experiencing similar feelings. A few of the fine resources available for people in crisis include:

- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357)

- The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

     - Press 1 on the menu for the Veteran's Crisis Line, or vets can text to 838255

     - For the Spanish line: 1-888-628-9454

- The Crisis Text Line: 741741 (text "Hello")

Stay safe, and stay well.

Encephalic Immolation

Encephalic Immolation

In this episode our hosts discuss Johnny Depp (more specifically how little we care about the issues surrounding him at the moment and why) and Chris Pratt (more specifically how surprising it is that people are surprised that he might show up in Thor: Love and Thunder considering the "Asgardians of the Galaxy" scene at the end of Endgame). Then we read through issue 10 of Cable & Deadpool, the climax of "the Burnt Offering" storyline. We end on an explanation of chopping wood for a fall bonfire, and if you have been listening to our other episodes you know that SOMETHING will be overlooked (or someone might get injured, or both...). Give us a listen to find out how we mess up something so simple!!

Foreshadowing the Offering

Foreshadowing the Offering

In this episode, the Senseless Apprentice is clearly tired and struggles to formulate coherent thoughts. Our hosts discuss the passing of Sean Connery and praise the movie that led to his retirement from film. Then we read through issue 9 of Cable & Deadpool, "The Burnt Offering part 3: When the Whip Comes Down", before another seasonal DIY project: using a Jack O'Lantern as filling for a pumpkin pie. Sure, the Senseless Apprentice messes up the task again, but I'd bet you can't guess how he does this time (give us a listen to find out how).

Nathan Christopher Summers' Last Supper

Nathan Christopher Summers' Last Supper

This episode, the Senseless Apprentice and Mr. Verano discuss updated casting in the Black Adam movie, Shang Chi and the Ten Rings wrapping up the filming stage of production, and the non-news regarding Deadpool 3 (Ryan Reynolds made a birthday joke). We also forget the news about Titans season 3 we were going to discuss (maybe next week... probably not). Then we read through issue 8 of Cable & Deadpool, "The Burnt Offering part 2: Lepers at the Table". We finish up by trying to help you with some simple décor prep for the upcoming holiday, but our attempt to whittle vampire killing stakes goes awry (give us a listen to find out how).

Sacrifice Bundt Cake

Sacrifice Bundt Cake

Today our hosts apologize for being long winded on social media, then tell long winded stories about our exploits in high school and college (...a lifetime ago...). We finally get into the news and talk about the newly announced Green Lantern Corps show and other updated comic book related project and casting news. Then we open up the "The Burnt Offering" storyline of Cable & Deadpool with our walkthrough of issue #7, "Headless Horseman". Before we leave, we attempt to give you some help with replacing moldy insulation... but the Senseless Apprentice acts... well... senselessly, so it doesn't go well...

Viral Electricity

Viral Electricity

In this episode we tried to learn from the "too many issues" problem of our previous episode but didn't seem to lose much time in the recording... maybe we talk too much. Anyway, in our news segment we discuss the fact that most comic book movie release dates have been pushed back, and then the Senseless Apprentice attempts to put every listener to sleep with a long, boring aside about why he likes Wally West (seriously, you should listen as a challenge - if you make it through his monologue without falling asleep you earn a no-prize!!). Then we finish the "If Looks Could Kill" storyline with our walkthrough of issues five ("Not that there's anything wrong with that") and six ("I've got you under my skin"), before trying to help you fix a cut extension cord by turning it into two slightly smaller extension cords. It... doesn't go well.
Give us a listen; you might learn something (but I doubt it).

Fractured Friendships and Broken Digits

Fractured Friendships and Broken Digits

In this episode we continue our read through of "Cable & Deadpool" with coverage of too many issues of the first storyline ("If Looks Could Kill" parts 2, 3, and 4). Seriously, we recorded after a long day of work for both hosts and it probably shows by the time we get to issue 4 (but we'll let you be the judge of that). In our news segment we discuss the casting of Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, plus the news about Nick Fury and WandaVision. We also try to help you repair a hole in the wall. You should tune in, you might learn something (but I doubt it).

Great Beginnings

Great Beginnings

In this episode we begin our read through of "Cable & Deadpool", the legendary four year comic that led into the Daniel Way solo Deadpool title. We also give some (not so great) advice for listeners looking for help with an oil change and provide our perspectives on the announcement of the final season of Supergirl and the proposed changes to the DC Universe app. However, we did forget to provide the production information regarding the comic issue we discussed, so see below for that stuff:

Penciler/Inker: Mark Brooks
