Chat with Gemma Herbertson together with Birinder Kang about therapies EBM and seizure recovery

Chat with Gemma Herbertson together with Birinder Kang about therapies EBM and seizure recovery

This is an extremely interesting video podcast with Gemma and Birinder about their experience dealing with seizures and different neurological difficulties with their children. The progress made is amazing. Gemma and Birinder want to share the hope this can bring with parents struggling with similar issues. Gemma is the founder of Neuro Frontiers: neuroplasticity therapies research and practice.  Her  son’s recovery was dramatic – so much so that, at one point, his neurosurgeon asked her to come and talk with him about how this transformation had come about! her son is now a complete chatterbox, he runs, skips, climbs, is continent, his eye is straight, and he has been seizure-free since May 2017.  Seeing first-hand, what Neuroplasticity Therapies have contributed to her son’s quality of life, Gemma now feels very committed to raising awareness of Neuroplasticity Therapies to more people. This is the silver lining to her journey; and a key aim of Neuro Frontiers is to be like a torch, shining light on the incredible people and neuroplasticity therapies out there.  Our Guest Details -- https://www.neurofrontiers.org/ https://www.instagram.com/neurofrontiers/?hl=en https://twitter.com/gemmaherbertson https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemma-herbertson-ba722520/?originalSubdomain=uk

Chat with Monique Cain about her own challenges with autism and her books

Chat with Monique Cain about her own challenges with autism and her books

Chat with Monique Cain about her own challenges with autism and her books.

Monique Cain is the author of the Everyday Autism Series.  Both her children Madi and Thomas were diagnosed with autism.

We discuss the challenges, the interaction with other children in school, socializing with friends, and the way her books help to raise awareness.

Writing helped Monique cope with the changes in her life and to raise awareness that all children are different.  Many autistic children look completely normal… until something happens that upsets them and they simply lose control.  For those around them this is an everyday reality but not for everyone.

Chat with Alex Lopiccolo the "King Of Swings"

Chat with Alex Lopiccolo the "King Of Swings"

In this chat I speak to Alex about sensory kids and swings, the input swings and other ways to help children on the autistic spectrum.

Alex Lopiccolo known by the name The king of Swings is an OT specializing in designing sensory rooms and swings for private use. He is running Sensorimotor Workshop as an instructor and designs Home/Therapy Clinic Sensory Gym equipment.  Alex Lopiccolo's sensory gyms come in all shapes and sizes and help kids who benefit from therapeutic movement. and above all, they're fun!  I speak to Alex about sensory children and ideas to add a swing on a budget and even inside a plaster wall built house. Alex shares tips about bedtime and the sensory input we get from swings equipment.  Lopiccolo designs and builds home sensory gyms for kids who need therapeutic movement.  His own house, naturally, has a huge gym setup. The kids both have swings in their rooms. Their solarium, dubbed the Sensorimotor Exploration Lab, is basically the  world’s most amazing playroom, complete with a zipline, Lycra swings and lots of padded shapes for climbing and cushioned landings. “I live and breathe sensory therapy.   Lopiccolo owns Sensory Digest and also works part-time as an occupational therapy assistant at a pediatric clinic.  He started designing sensory gyms to fill a need he saw.  A home sensory gym might take the form of a bedroom Lycra maze to help kids relax and calm down — the stretchy fabric pulls you into fetal position.  Sensory gyms can help hypermobile kids and those with low muscle tone improve joint stability and posture control.   another benefit is that Sensory gyms can help kids improve joint stability and posture control. Currently he is the only one who really does it in the world,” Lopiccolo says. “I really enjoy it, watching kids use it and have fun with it and making it therapeutic.”

Chat with Dr. Carla Adams about vision therapy and how can it help our kids.

Chat with Dr. Carla Adams about vision therapy and how can it help our kids.

In this interesting and very informative chat I talk to Dr. Carla Adams about vision therapy and the holistic approach behind it as many parents are not aware about the difference between sight and vision. When your child is checked for sight and - there is no guarantee that their vision is impaired. Behavioural and developmental optometrist Carla Adams  left retail optometry to open her own practice and create an “alternative vision clinic.” Dr. Adams says she felt she could “do more to help patients” through neuro-visual rehabilitation and pediatric vision therapy rather than simply 20/20 eye testing. “Eighty percent of patients coming through retail optometric outlets require only primary care optometry,” Dr. Adams says. “I wanted to help patients with special needs as well – people for whom primary care optometry is insufficient.” But, after years in her own practice, Dr. Adams realized that, perhaps, therapy alone might not always be the most direct – and most rapid – approach to getting patients to their goals. “Therapy relies on compliance, and not all patients are diligent in adhering to prescribed therapy regimens,” she says. Dr. Adams is training in applying the advanced neuro-optometric rehabilitation techniques practiced by the Mind-Eye team
