As a venture capital investor, Jean Bourcereau, managing partner at Ventech, has been around the block enough times not to panic when an economic cycle turns down. But he also knows that for a younger generation of European entrepreneurs, the current chill spreading across the investment landscape is the first slowdown they’ve experienced.

CEO Cristobal Alonso of the Estonia-based firm Startup Wise Guys joins us to chat about the announcement of the first €25m capital secured for their €45m raise and their 400th startup investment.

– The money will be used to expand its network of accelerators and invest in a minimum of 200 startups from mostly across Europe and Africa in 2023/24

– In addition to CEE countries, Startup Wise Guys has opened offices in Italy, Spain, and Africa where it sees big potential.

– It made 120 early-stage investments in 2022, and hopes to go bigger in 2023.
