6. It’s Okay to Outgrow Things (Jobs, Relationships, Friendships, Places)

Welcome back to another episode of Serotonin Syrup. I'm Valerie, your host, and I just quit my job to step into an entirely different industry. I'm here to let you know that making changes is okay, and it's not something we should fear. In fact, we should be excited about it.

Are you feeling stuck in your current situation and unsure how to move forward? Do you find yourself holding onto things that no longer serve you? If so, this episode is for you. We'll discuss why change is so scary, and why it's important to give yourself unconditional permission to outgrow things. We'll talk about how to recognize when it's time to peace out and move on from something.

I'll talk more in detail about my personal story and how I've learned to embrace change over the years - I used to be afraid of it, but now we're besties.

5. How To Be On Social Media (Without Losing Your Mind)

5. How To Be On Social Media (Without Losing Your Mind)

3 hours on TikTok, 2 hours of mindless Twitter scrolling, followed by a deep dive into your exes' current partner's Instagram. Sounds familiar? We've all been there. In this episode, we dive into the world of social media and how to stay social media-active without losing your mind. According to recent studies, over 50% of people feel that social media has a negative impact on their mental health, and around 40% of people report feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed after spending time on social media platforms.

To combat the negative effects of social media, we talk about the importance of setting boundaries with ourselves. This means creating guidelines and rules on how we use social media, understanding the purpose of the content we're consuming, and trying to become more conscious in the process. We discuss how to create a healthier relationship with social media by spending time offline, unfollowing accounts that make us feel negative emotions, and focusing on cultivating meaningful relationships with people.

4. Healing March: let's quit alcohol, delete dating apps & improve our body image

4. Healing March: let's quit alcohol, delete dating apps & improve our body image

Welcome to another episode of Serotonin Syrup. In this episode, we'll talk about the Healing March program I developed for myself in hopes of mending my relationship with myself, my body, and my mental health at large. Healing March consists of 8 rules I created that are all meant to work in tandem and aid my healing journey.

We all have experienced pain and trauma at some point in our lives, whether it be from past relationships, childhood experiences, or societal pressures. However, we often tend to suppress these feelings and try to move on with our lives without giving ourselves the time and space to heal.

Some key points talked about: quitting alcohol. Alcohol is often used as a coping mechanism, but it can also be a hindrance to the healing process. It's important to address the root of the pain and trauma, and quitting alcohol can help us do that.

Starting journal. Writing down our thoughts and feelings can be therapeutic and help us to process and understand our emotions. It's a safe space to express ourselves and release any negative emotions that may be holding us back.

Abstaining from dating can also be beneficial in the healing process. Often, we seek validation and love from others before giving it to ourselves. Taking time to focus on ourselves and our healing journey can lead to a healthier and more fulfilling relationship in the future.

In conclusion, healing is essential for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Let's have a Healing March now so we can have a hot girl summer later!

3. How To Be a Girlboss When You Have Crippling Anxiety

3. How To Be a Girlboss When You Have Crippling Anxiety

The good old A word: Anxiety. And managing it with a busy lifestyle is not easy, especially if you’re ambitious and want to put yourself out there. In this episode, we’ll explore how I, as a chronic diagnosed anxiety sufferer, keep my mental health in check while girlbossing around the world, starting new projects, and hitting new milestones.

As women, we often feel pressured to be perfect in everything we do. We're expected to excel at our careers, maintain a social life, and somehow find time to take care of ourselves. It's no wonder that anxiety is so prevalent among women, with 1 in 5 women in the US experiencing an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives.

I’ll share my personal journey, the tools I’ve learned in therapy, my medication history, and where I’m at currently. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life, I know firsthand how challenging it can be. But I also know that achieving great things is possible despite your mental health obstacles.

2. Valentine’s Day: Being Single, Why Situationships Don't Work & WTF is Self-Love?

2. Valentine’s Day: Being Single, Why Situationships Don't Work & WTF is Self-Love?

Well, well, well... if this isn't the most romantic time of the year. This episode is a Valentine's Day survival guide, dedicated to all the lover girls out there who crave romance more than perhaps anything else, whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not. Single on Valentine's? Groundbreaking.

In this episode, we will explore why we may feel uncomfortable with our singleness, where our deepest fears stem from, and why being alone isn't nearly as bad as it sounds. Being single on Valentine's brings out the worst of our insecurities, and we'll go through each one of them. We will also dive into situationships as a concept, and why we're setting ourselves up for failure and frustration when entering into one.

Finally, we'll talk all things self-love, not the commodified kind, but the actual act of self-love: how can you treat yourself better? How can you recognize and meet your needs?
