All The Red Flags: Fiasco by Constance Fay and Honeysuckle by January Rayne

In the third episode of Season Six we continue our individual six degrees of separation to lead us back to a joint book in the final episode. This week Jessica's choice was Honeysuckles by January Rayne and Emma's choice was Fiasco by Constance Fay. Click on the author names for links to their website or for details of further books in the series and additional work.

There will be some small plot point spoilers in our discussion of the book but we always try to warn you so you can skip ahead. As always with romance, we know there is going to be a HEA and our episodes aim to share the joy we take in following the characters on their journey towards it and prompt conversations exploring why SFF romance is so fantastic.

These are adult romances, so warning for explicit language and please check content/trigger warnings for the book before listening if there are topics that you might find upsetting to hear about. We hope the title of this episode will alert readers that this is one of our more explicit episodes too!

If you'd like to watch via our YouTube channel (where subtitles available) you can find it a link here: https://linktr.ee/SFFRomCast along with our social media details. We'd love to hear from you!

Summer Special: The Fantasy Romance Takeover Challenge

Summer Special: The Fantasy Romance Takeover Challenge

The summer special is here - just about sneaking in before the kids go back to school (depending on where you are in the world).

For this bonus episode we took on an imaginative challenge and we're going to be a bit mysterious about it. Listen in or watch along and let us know if you can come up with your own "takeover" ideas - we'd love to hear them and just generally from you - how have you been? You can find us on social media @SFFRomCast: https://linktr.ee/SFFRomCast

We're still discussing adult books (though we'll leave the specifics as a surprise) but please carefully check the content and trigger warnings for each book on the authors website or Goodreads pages as some topics might be upsetting for some individuals. Additional warnings too for explicit language and a few spoilers, we tried to keep them as minimal as possible.

Another Seven-Footer: A Ruin of Roses - K F Breene

In the final episode of Season Two, we're talking about A Ruin of Roses, a dark fantasy retelling of Beauty & the Beast by author K F Breene

Dragons are Better Than People: Fire In His Blood - Ruby Dixon

On our first episode, we kick off the six degrees of separation with a deep dive into Ruby Dixon's, Fire in His Blood, book one of the Fireblood Dragon series.

There will be story SPOILERS but as always with romance, we know there is going to be a HEA and our episodes aim to share the joy we take in following the character's on their journey towards it and prompt conversations exploring why SFF romance is so fantastic.

These are adult romances, so warning for explicit language and please check content warnings for the book before listening if there are topics that you might find upsetting to hear about.

We thought there were only four books in the Fireblood Dragon series and there are currently ten! (We've got some catching up to do) You can use this link to find out about their order and other series the author has written such as Ice Planet Barbarians. Ruby Dixon - Book Series In Order - As far as we can tell, none of these include a prequel from Fort Orleans - but do correct us if you know any different!

You can also find more information and links to where to buy Ruby Dixon's books at her website here: Home - Ruby Dixon

We referenced the "fated mates" trope which is common in fantasy romance. This refers to the two love interests being fated to be together, like soulmates, for biological, spiritual or other reasons, that the reader is left to figure out! Commonly, at least one of the love interest recognises this fact. Our definition as we understand it, and we'd love to hear from you if you think there are further distinctions or restrictions.
