Allison Westin

Allison is a Professional Geoscientist and Professional Agrologist with 6 years of field research, and 7 years of public outreach experience. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography from the Faculty of Environment at SFU, and a Master of Science degree in Earth Sciences also at SFU. Skilled in mapping (terrain & remote sensing), coupled with a breadth of knowledge from geoscience to biology to business, she enjoys making sense of data to solve problems and increase public confidence.

Kristin Oliver

Kristin Oliver

Kristin graduated in 2020 with a BA in Archaeology, and has started a Masters degree in the same field. Her areas of interest include coastal, historical, and Indigenous archaeology, among other fascinating topics. She has extensive research and volunteer experience, and was a finalist for SFU’s 3 Minute Thesis event in April 2021.

Sasha Makhneva

Sasha Makhneva

Sasha graduated in 2019 with a BSc in Environmental Science, Applied Biology from the SFU Faculty of Environment. During that time, she did research on pollination, educated students on zero waste for the sustainability office, and volunteered with Embark. Since then, she has held various positions in the environment realm, most recently diving into the world of communications and content creation.

Jenny Botica

Jenny Botica

Jenny has over 15 years of experience doing Archaeology work and research, completing a Bachelor of Arts from UBC, a Master of Arts from Leiden University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Archaeology from SFU. She currently co-owns Kleanza Consulting, and has also been an instructor for SFU Archaeology.

Hannah Bailey

Hannah Bailey

Hannah graduated with a BA in Archaeology in 2019 from the SFU Faculty of Environment. She has gained valuable field and lab experience, studied abroad, and has worked in Japan doing tourism. She now works as a lab technician for Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land), a cultural and natural resource management company owned by the Splatsin people of the Secwepemc Nation. They provide a complete range of environmental, archaeology, and forestry services for government, industry and the private sector.

Triya Tessa Ramburn

Triya Tessa Ramburn

Triya graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science from SFU’s Faculty of Environment in 2017. Her interests lie at the intersection of environment and health, and she is now on her way to completing a Doctor of Medicine at McGill University. She has experience with various environmental and advocacy groups on and off campus, and has put a focus on exploring equity and anti-racism in medicine, and how it intersects with climate change.

Dina Sadeghi

Dina graduated from a BEnv in Global Environmental Systems in 2020 from SFU Environment. She has diverse work, co-op, and volunteering experience. She currently holds several positions, including Information Counsellor for Tourism BC, and Facilitator for CityHive Vancouver. She is starting her Masters in Resource Management (MRM) in Planning at SFU this fall.

Chris Cunada

Chris Cunada

Chris graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science from SFU's Faculty of Environment. He landed a full-time job soon after graduation as an Environmental Technician at IMG-Golder Corporation. A few years later, he came back to SFU and completed a Master of Science in Aquatic Biogeochemistry and is currently employed as the Aquatic Monitoring and Research Coordinator with the Government of the NorthWest Territories.

George Pietrusinski

George graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography from SFU's Faculty of Environment, and obtained a certificate in Earth Sciences. With this solid foundation, he began working in mining and exploration within a few months of graduation. Currently, he is a Lead Geotech with Equity Exploration.

Rebecca Gunderson

Rebecca has a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from SFU's Faculty of Environment and is currently completing a Masters in Urban Studies. She has diverse work experience in Indigenous relations, urban resilience, and Geographic Information Sciences. She is currently working as a GIS Analyst for Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Wendy Avis

Wendy Avis

Wendy has 20 years of experience in the environment and sustainability field. She has a BA in Geography and Environmental Studies from Brock University and a Masters in Geography from UBC. Although Wendy isn't an SFU Alumna, she regularly hires SFU students for Co-op positions. In the past, Wendy has worked for the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Community College, BC Hydro, and Environment Canada. Currently, she is a Manager for the Environment Department at the Vancouver Airport Authority.

Chantelle Foster

Chantelle worked on Co-op for eight months in 2019 with the Federal Section of the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Unit. Soon to be completing a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology from SFU's Faculty of Environment, she is working again with the RCMP on a contract basis.

Andhra graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science degree in 2014 from SFU's Faculty of Environment, then completed her Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Victoria. Her past work experience has ranged from doing environmental field work to being a Law Clerk for the Supreme Court of Canada. She is currently a staff lawyer for Ecojustice Canada.
