SG Sports Uncut [Ep 19] : FENCING SG Target Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 for Olympic DEBUTs!

Singapore’s latest Sports Talkshow, turns the focus on FENCING!

Since 2014, the Republic's national athletes have been performing consistently on the international circuit, by winning medals at the SEA Games, Asian Championships and at the World Juniors C'ships as well.

This has led to a growing rise in the number of students learning the sport of fencing in our local schools.   Fencing Singapore (FS) also has in place, the Olympic Pathway Programme for the nation's elite athletes to train and qualify to compete at the Olympic Games for the very 1st time. And FS is quietly confident of at least 1 Singaporean, making the cut for the Tokyo 2021 Games.

The success of FS would not have been possible without years of proper and sound governance, well-designed training and development programmes, support from the Govt, Parents and Sponsors, not forgetting the passion, sacrifices and love for Fencing by the athletes themselves.

Well to hear more of their dreams, struggles, challenges and life-ambitions,  catch them on Episode 19 of SG Sports Uncut!

Appearing on the show from Fencing Singapore (FS) :
Chong Yi Mei      (General Manager, Fencing Singapore)
Andrey Klyushin (Head Coach, TeamSG Fencing)
Maxine Wong     (Women's Foil, TeamSG Fencer)
Jet Ng                (Men's Foil, TeamSG Fencer)

SG Sports Uncut [Ep 18] : SG VOLLEYBALL target SEA Games Medals & Asian Games spot from 2021 onwards

SG Sports Uncut [Ep 18] : SG VOLLEYBALL target SEA Games Medals & Asian Games spot from 2021 onwards

Singapore’s latest Sports Talkshow, turns the focus on VOLLEYBALL!

In more than 40+ years since Volleyball was introduced at the SEA Games, our Singapore national teams have yet to win the Gold medal. In fact, the last time the Men's team finished on the podium standings was a Bronze medal at the 1993 SEA Games.

As for the Women's team, Singapore won the Bronze in 2015. And 2019 also marked the return of Beach Volleyball, since the 1997 SEA Games. But the Republic's squads who were making their respective debuts, just couldn't keep up with their regional opponents.

Thus, how long will our Team Singapore athletes require to become a force to be reckoned with in the region? Do we have ample resources in hand to aid in the transformation of the various national team age-groups? Is the pipeline for young talented players, still a strong source to bank on? What is the main goal of the Volleyball Association of Singapore over the next 3-5 years?

Well to hear more of their hopes, goals, struggles and vision,  catch them on Episode 18 of SG Sports Uncut!

Appearing on the show from the Volleyball Association of Singapore (VAS) :
Chia Min Chong (Vice President for High Performance)
Chee Kok Leong (Treasurer and ex-TeamSG Volleyballer)
Lee Pei Ying (Captain, Women's National Indoor Volleyball Team)
Travis Ang (Co-Captain, Men's National Indoor Volleyball Team)
Eliza Chong (TeamSG Women's Beach Volleyballer)
Kingsley Tay (TeamSG Men's Beach Volleyballer)

How did Singapore's bowlers evolve to be able to compete in the US-based PWBA league? Singapore’s latest Sports Talkshow, turns the spotlight on WINTER SPORTS!

Over the last few years, our Team Singapore winter-sports based athletes have worked extremely hard, to qualify and compete (for the very first time) in Major Games like the Winter Olympics, Winter Youth Olympic Games, SEA Games, ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships etc. Through their passion, determination, grit, confidence and sacrifices, their efforts have helped re-define the Republic as just "a tropical island".

They might appear to be a small and niche group of athletes, representing Singapore in ice skating, figure skating and ice hockey. But rest assured, their achievements and medal-winning performances, have garnered praise and recognition from the international community. So can WE truly grow to become a regional powerhouse in winter sports?

Well to hear more of their achievements, struggles, sacrifices, dreams and vision, catch them on Episode 13 of SG Sports Uncut!  Appearing on the show are : Diane Foo (President, S'pore Ice Hockey Association, SIHA) Alvin Chan (Asst Coach, SG Men's Team) Sheena Yap (Captain, SG Women's Team)  Alicia Tan (Sec Gen, S'pore Ice Skating Association, SISA) Trevor Tan (Team SG Short Track Speed Skater) Pagiel Sng (Team SG Figure Skater)

In PART 4, we talk to SISA regarding Training Venue Challenges locally, Overseas options, Personal Goals/Targets and the Local Community.
