Bonus: today in the life.

From now on the bonus episodes are going to be more about what’s going on in my life right now. I may add a couple of tips from what I have learned in the last week or so before the episode, but these bonus episodes are going to be more of a realistic look into my life. With that being said this bonus episode is brought to you by sleeping anxiety and not just going to sleep but waking up with anxiety at night and how it affects me. Many times I have woken from deep sleep with either a panic attack or an anxiety attack. It’s scary, and it causes me to lose sleep. When you’re dealing with a mental health issue sleep is key.

12- you are not super human. And guess what? That’s amazing!

Guys, I am not superhuman. I am just one woman trying to live in a world where I have had to survive for way to long.

Giving up control has been so scary for me.  The world is full of chaos, so I cling to whatever control I have, but it might kill me.   So,  i am giving up control in whichever ways I can, So I can focus on what the most important parts of my life truly are.

9- Putting the pieces together after an identity crisis.

9- Putting the pieces together after an identity crisis.

Putting yourself back together is hard.  It's painful almost, but something that has to be done.

It's like a puzzle, where you get to pick your own pieces and throw out the ones you don't like.

I suggest finding your strengths, you have to start somewhere? Why not build yourself up?

Next, I asked others what they thought of me- you should ask a professional before doing this.

I looked at who I was (Perfectionism has been a coping mechanism for me).  I liked the confidence I use to have, so I kept that in my puzzle.

Accepting that the "old you" isn't really you anymore is hard but key.

Forgive yourself and others( again with the help of a licensed medical professional, which I am not).

"Some people are afraid to face their past and demons, because it is hard!  You might lose everything.......But I already have, I lost myself.  And that's all I have in the end!"

4 - Now let’s find Shannon, starting out on the mental health journey!

When you lose everything about you. Where do you even begin to start finding yourself again. Trauma changes you. It changes how you see the world. Unless you want to stay in that stage, you have to start moving, even if it’s just a step. My first step- journaling. Making a record of everything thing and writing out what emotions I was truly feeling. I highly suggest journaling when you begin your journey! Mental health is a hard journey, always reach out if you need too!

3- What is C-PTSD?

3- What is C-PTSD?

Most people have heard of PTSD. They relate it to the military and combat. But that’s just one part. C-PTSD is like the cousin to PTSD. In this episode you will learn what C-PTSD is and what makes it different than the more common PTSD. You will also learn a couple of causes. I will even put in a little science to blow your mind! And finally I will run through some helpful tips for yourself and your loved ones. Just so you know, I am not a doctor, psychiatrist, or the like, this is all from research and experiences of myself and others. If you think you have PTSD or C-PTSD, then it’s time to get help. Don’t be afraid to reach out. There is no shame is asking for help, don’t let that negative little voice keep you trapped.
