Episode 53: National Donate Life Month Part 2: A man with a generous heart
For part two of our National Donate Life Month series, we are joined by Mary Grace Hensell and Melvin Protzman, who met after Mary Grace's son, Brian, died in a car crash in 2011. Protzman, who was in year four of waiting for a heart transplant, received Brian's heart and is now committed to making sure that Brian will never be forgotten. Hensell and Protzman met shortly after the transplant surgery and have been close friends ever since.

Episode 38: Opioid Epidemic Part 3: Resources and Recovery
This week on the New Generation podcast, Tanner Mondok and Janeé Avery discuss resources and programs in the Mercer County area for people who struggle with drug addiction in the third edition of the opioid epidemic series. Special guest Gloria Mackaly, President of the Mercer County Coalition for Drug Awareness, joins the show to shed light on her experience with helping drug addicts through their recovery journey.  Gloria has worked for the Court system since 1990, but it wasn’t until she worked as a Judge’s Court Clerk in Nevada that she had her first glimpse of Drug Addiction. While working in Drug Court, she gained a great deal of admiration for addicts in recovery, watching them grow week to week, all the while not knowing that one day it would personally touch her family. Gloria’s granddaughter became her inspiration for the Mercer County Coalition for Drug Awareness. Gloria continues to work in the court system as the Intake Officer of the Domestic Relations Section of Mercer County. She spends a great deal of time supporting the ROAR Center and working on collaborative programs with area agencies and foundations. (roarcentermccda.org)

In an abstract way, the Schieber's had always opposed the death penalty because it went against their faith-based lifestyle and moral beliefs. Since Shannon's death, the Schieber's have become advocates of abolishing the death penalty in Pennsylvania and nationwide.
