More than Self-Care: Cultivating Mental Wellness
Active Minds was founded by Alison Malmon when she was a junior at the University of Pennsylvania following the suicide of her older brother, and only sibling, Brian. Alison recognized that Brian’s story is the story of thousands of young people who suffer in silence; who, despite their large numbers, think they are totally alone. A majority of mental illnesses start between ages 14 and 24 when teens and young adults are in school, and suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students.
Active Minds has since become the premier organization impacting college students and mental health. Now on more than 800 campuses, we directly reach close to 600,000 students each year through campus awareness campaigns, events, advocacy, outreach, and more. Their consistent message, amplified by nearly 16,000 students each year, is that mental health needs to be talked about as easily as physical health. Only then can we bring suicide and mental health into the open so no one struggles alone.

Next-Gen Investing: Let's Close that Wealth Gap, Shall We?
Women invest 40% less than men on average, which snowballs into enormous gaps in wealth over time. Why? For decades, personal finance was marketed as a "man's game," despite the fact that women who do invest tend to outperform men!
In this session, you'll hear from Katie Perry, VP of Marketing for the social investing app Public.com, who will explain how investing is becoming more democratized and how you can get started with as little as $1. Public is a new kind of experience that makes it possible to invest alongside friends and experts, and buy "fractional shares" of stock in the companies you believe in—sort of like Uber Pool for investing. Will Smith, Sophia Amoruso, and J.J. Watt are among the startup's investors.
Bonus: At the end of this session, attendees will get a code for $10 worth of free stock to start their investing journey. Check out the full video on SheFactor TV!
