80's Pop Tops

These are the songs that didn't get past #5 and didn't crack the top 25 of the year. As usual I picked the songs that have memories for me and may have had some relevance later on in the years that followed.

Its the end of the year 1980 and some big names are at the top of the chart but the month and year are remembered also for the loss of a music legend.

The year is coming to an end and the big guns come out with a hit that has staying power. Also some disco heavyweights get behind the scenes and move to the second part of their music legacies. Join me for a trip down memory lane it's November 1980.

Welcome back everyone its the fall of 1980, does 80's music have an identity yet? It seems not as different genres and styles are jumping around looking for exposure.

For 1980 No Artist exemplifies this time more than Blondie. Emerging from the punk new wave scene they tried many different styles. Their career still goes on today, however to me is the perfect bridge between the 70's and 80's.

The Fall is Beginning and the charts are semi static come in and we will do a quick overview of the hits from September of 1980.

Was there a debate did one city give us freestyle and the other ride its coattails? Well it seems not but a subgenre of music was born out of disco and synth beats. Whether you call latin hip-hop or post disco dance it was great music to just have fun to.

On Aug 1 1981 a station launched , and a second British Invasion began. This led to the New Wave and New Romantic sound crashing on our shores and music would never be the same.
