Let's talk about Grief and Healing

She hosts a podcast called Let’s Talk About Grief where she interviews guests about how they've navigated their own grief journeys after losing someone close to them. The goal of her show is to normalize and not fear the grieving process.  She is also an author of Grief’s Abyss Finding your Pathway to Peace. How to Talk to Your Boss About Your Grief
What do you say to your boss when you are dealing with a loss in your personal life? The conversation is not an easy one, but it is one that MUST take place. Open lines of communication make it easier on you, your manager and those working on you. So who do you need to talk to first and how do you start this conversation? And what exactly should you say? Leadership coach Jill Hunter has some great advice to share.  ###### Jill Hunter, RPh, MBA, spent her first 25 years working as a pharmacist in various healthcare settings where top producers were promoted to management. Managers focused on the numbers creating a culture where everyone feared for their job. When Jill had the opportunity to be a Director of Pharmacy she led her team with empathy, not numbers and it worked! Now Jill coaches professionals how to do the same, eliminating fear management from businesses. Her mission is to make every company a place where everyone wants to come to work every day. People thrive when they feel appreciated, valued and supported. She speaks to organizations and corporations on leadership and career development. In her coaching business she helps leaders connect on a deeper level with their teams. She also helps people discover new directions for their careers by unleashing their hidden talents, then dialing in the right mix of strengths and potential. She has a Facebook group to bring like-minded leaders together www.facebook.com/groups/LeadwithEmpathy/ If you want to experience what Jill has to offer book an introductory coaching session. https://bit.ly/ZoomJill Website: www.UpLevelToLead.com *** Are you ready to step out of your pain and step back in to LIVING your live on purpose, with passion and to make and impact? How to Become Resilient After Loss
"You are so strong."  "I could never survive what you have." Those are just a few of the many phrases grievers have heard as they travel their path from grief to healing. But that simply isn't true. Resiliency isn't something you have, it is something that is built and Janet Fanaki has not only studied it, she has lived it and is teaching her children to build theirs as well. Janet is the creator and host of the RESILIENT PEOPLE podcast. Since 2018 she has been blogging and recording interviews with people from around the world who are admired for their resilience. She calls herself a Resilience Explorer. A former public relations specialist, Janet and family were shocked in 2016 when her husband Adam was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He was 47 years old and in February 2020 succumbed to the disease. Over the three and a half years of Adam’s illness, Janet did a lot of people watching in the appointment waiting rooms - wondering how others cope with major life challenges? She share's some of those observances and lessons with us in this episode. ###### To connect with Janet go to http://www.resilientpeople.ca/ Instagram & Facebook @resilientpeopleca Twitter @resilientpeopl LinkedIn: Janet (Petruck) Fanaki **** Are you ready to step out of your pain and step back in to LIVING your live on purpose, with passion and to make and impact? Nurses and Grief
Nurses and other medical professionals deal with death, dying and grieving as a part of their profession. For those working in Hospice, this is true every day they show up for work. So one might think they "KNOW" how handle it better than most. You might want to re-think that. Helen Bauer, Founder and co-host of the Heart of Hospice Podcast has been a Nurse, a consultant, and a griever  she says a lot of people in the profession take a "Do as I say, not as I do" approach, which can lead to burn out. We had quite a comprehensive and interesting conversation.  I hope you will find it to be that as well. ##### Helen Bauer has worked in nursing for over 30 years, specializing in hospice and end of life care for the past 10 years. She is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Registered Nurse with a background in compliance and consulting.  As co-owner of The Heart of Hospice, she provides end of life education and consulting services for both hospice providers and consumers.  Helen’s passion for quality end of life care can be heard on The Heart of Hospice podcast as she leads discussions on hospice philosophy, how to get the most from your hospice experience, and advance care planning. Loss and Love and Laughter
When it comes to losing someone you love, tears are almost a given, laughter, not so much. But Allen Klein doesn't agree with that. In fact he says they can co-exist and both can be used in healing. When he lost his wife after a bout with cancer, he relied on her zest for life and love and laughter as a way to keep he and his daughter moving forward. I love how he shares his memories of how he relied on instinct to move through his grief. His latest book "Embracing Life After Loss", is a great guide to help us graduate our grief. ############## Allen Klein (aka “Mr. Jollytologist”®) shows people how to use humor and positivity to deal with life’s not-so-funny stuff. He is an award-winning professional speaker, TEDx presenter, and author of 30-plus books. The website, SpiritualityandPractice.com named his most book, The AWE Factor, as “One of the Best Spiritual Books of 2020.” His other books include including, The Healing Power of Humor, You Can’t Ruin My Day, and Embracing Life After Loss. Graduating Grief doesn't mean you will never feel sad
This weeks episode gets personal. Well for me anyway. This week marks the birthday of my son Brandon who was born 22 years ago. He lived for 29 days. This year, on his birthday I felt sad. Let's Talk about DEATH & GRIEF & LIFE
Grief is coming to you! If the thought of this scares you, then this is episode is made especially for you. We are all going to grieve the loss of someone we love, something we love or something we are forced to leave behind and the more we talk about it and prepare for it, the less we will have to suffer. That's not to say that when we do grieve it won't be one of the most painful experiences we will ever endure. It just means you will not have to suffer as much or as long. There is so much to talk about when it comes to death and dying and grieving. And that's why I am so excited to talk with Tedx speaker and author Yvonne Heath about her book "Love your Life to Death." She speaks with ease and love and conviction about why you should be talking about death too. ######################################################### To find out more about Yvonne and her mission, message and book, make sure to visit her website: loveyourlifetodeath.com Contact Yvonne at Yvonne@loveyourlifetodeath.com ******************************************************** **Are you ready to step out of your pain and step back in to LIVING your live on purpose, with passion and to make and impact? How to Ease Anxiety by Being MINDFUL
Anytime you are going through a rough chapter in life, chances are you are feeling on edge and may be doing battle with anxiety.  For some, anxiety can actually become a way of life with or without a major challenge. Author and Ted-X speaker J.A. Plosker says he has been dealing with anxiety for as long as he can remember. And then one day he learned a valuable tool that helped him so much, he has now dedicated his life to sharing it with others. What is that tool? It's mindfulness and now this mindfulness coach will share with us the basics of what it is, and how we can use it to graduate from the pain of our grief. ########### J. A. Plosker is a mindfulness and self-discovery coach who began his mindfulness journey with a simple technique taught to him after a chance encounter with a person who would become his teacher of over 20 years. That practice helped him overcome overwhelming anxiety, and changed his life. Now, he is a teacher and speaker on the power of ancient wisdom and mindfulness in everyday life. He has been on many stages, including TEDx, and is the multi-award-winning author of two books in the personal growth and mindfulness space: The Nobody Bible: Uncovering the Simple Wisdom in Ordinary Life and the novel, An Audible Silence. A former practicing licensed master social worker and instructor of comparative religion, philosophy, and social work, J. Gratitude and Grief
During the recent loss of my beloved sidekick and podcast co-host, my dog Ollie, I have been experiencing gut wrenching heartbreak and grief.  A friend of mine told me to feel the love people were sending me and I told her I was incapable of feeling anything other than deep sadness.  Then she just told me two words: You Will. What I Learned about Living from the Dying
In my opinion, hospice workers and volunteers are angels that walk the earth, and I am talking to one today in this episode of Graduating Grief. Nina Impala, a former hospice worker and volunteer, an author and the host of Inspiring End of Life Conversations radio show on Voice of America Radio. Her book,  "Dearly Departed- What I Learned about Living from the Dying" is one of those books that came to me and my family at a time when a family member was suddenly taken into hospice during the Covid- 19 pandemic. It was the perfect resource we needed to help us better understand, accept and prepare for the end of a life of someone we dearly loved. It's a book that is filled with love and hope. That's why I am so excited to talk to her. Eating Your Grief
2020 is the year of collective grieving. Many of us have lost loved ones due to the pandemic. But there are many other kinds of losses people are experiencing in addition to death. People have lost jobs, lost their senior prom, sports seasons, graduation. People have lost their vacations, wedding receptions, and even a lot of their normal day to day activities. We are all grieving something and many of us are eating too much, drinking too much and indulging in ways we know are not good for us, but work to numb us from feeling the anger, sadness and frustration that comes with grief. That's why I'm so happy to talk with Vickie Griffiths. She is an author, weight loss coach and podcast host and has a lot of great insight into what is happening, and how we can get a grip on eating our feelings as we grieve. Students dealing with Grief Pt 1
When we think of a grieving person, we often think about a person who is depressed, sad and crying. But just seeing that picture of grief, could be holding you back from REALLY seeing what grief actually looks like. Grieving people rarely break down in public, but that grief does reveal itself in other ways. And what about children? How can we help better support our grieving children That's why this conversation with Author, Grief Educator and Pastor Steve Sewell is so interesting. Steve educates educators on what to look for and how to best support a student who might be grieving. And has written a great book to help children better understand how they are feeling. ________________________________________ To get a copy of Steve's Children's book "Finding Hope", click here: https://amzn.to/2Cp2lBw To purchase the companion "Finding Hope" Workbook click here: https://amzn.to/3fioVKC Or you can learn more at : www.stevensewell.me _____________________________________________________________ Sherrie Dunlevy-#Inspirationista is a best selling author, speaker and grief educator.  To order a copy of her book “How Can I Help?” go to https://www.SherrieDunlevy.com/author. Grief in the Workplace
We all work with someone who has been dealing with grief. We just might not know it. Grief isn't necessarily just about death. People can grieve over lost marriages, a diagnosis, a child who has a drug problem, and the list goes on and on. People come to work with a smile on their face, and deep pain in their hearts, and unfortunately no one is trained to help support them...until now. In this episode, Sherrie talks with Anthony Casablanca, who along with his brother Guy, has developed leadership training around this very common, yet underserved segment of our workforce. ################################################################################ To find out more about Grief Leaders go to: www.GriefLeaders.com You can contact Anthony at a.casablanca@griefleaders.com For more information on Grief Anonymous: https://www.GriefAnonymous.com *To order a copy of her best selling book “How Can I Help?” go to https://www.SherrieDunlevy.com/author. Grief Dreams
Have you ever had your loved one visit you in a dream? Did you ever wonder what it meant?  Were you curious if you were the only person, having this happen? Did it make you feel better when you woke up? In this episode of the Grief Anonymous Podcast I talk with Dr. Joshua Black a grief dreams researcher, speaker, author, and host of the Grief Dreams Podcast, about why he has focused his entire career on grief dreams and what he has learned from his research. The answers he has found, may or may not surprise you. ###################################################################### Dr. Joshua Black is a grief dreams researcher, speaker, author, and host of the Grief Dreams Podcast. He has focused all of his MA and PhD research (in psychology) on investigating grief dreams from many types of loss (including prenatal loss and pet loss). The majority of his research on grief dreams has been specifically on dreams of the deceased. Due to the lack of academic research in this field, Joshua has focused his efforts on raising awareness on grief dreams through doing talks, workshops, and interviews. Additionally, he hosts the Grief Dreams Podcast, developed a grief dreams website (www.griefdreams.ca), runs several social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram), and wrote a children’s book on grief dreams (Dreaming of Owl). Mens Grief
Grieving is as individual as people. Each person is on their own journey. But when it comes to men and women, there are similarities among the sexes. Many women have common grief experiences, as do men. But when a child dies, it seems all the support is aimed at the mother. The father grieves too. So what are the differences in the way men and women grieve? That's what host and Inspirationista Sherrie Dunlevy and her guest Bradley Vinson discuss in this episode of the Grief Anonymous Podcast. Grief Anonymous Podcast- What does Grief Look Like?
When we picture someone grieving a lot of us see deep sadness, despair, and crying. Those are common signs for grievers, but they are not the only signs and emotions that people feel. In fact, you might see someone actually smiling. But don't let that make you think that person is ok or they are not grieving.  Grief is as individual as each and everyone of us. And not all grieving people are necessarily mourning the death of someone they love and care about. That's what Sherrie Dunlevy is talking about in this episode of the Grief Anonymous Podcast.  For more information on Grief Anonymous or the Grief Resource Network go to:  www.griefanonymous.com or www.griefresourcenetwork.com For more information on Sherrie's book "How Can I Help?" or to book Sherrie for your next event or workshop go to www.SherrieDunlevy.com
