Sony has long been the king of camera sensors. Now, with companies like ISOCELL, a joint venture betwen Fujifilm and Samsung, and Towerjazz, which is in partnership with Panasonic, other camera companies like Nikon and Canon (and many more besides) will have more options to choose from.
