It reduced the ‘alphabet soup’ of sustainability disclosures by incorporating standards and frameworks from the Value Reporting Foundation, the Climate Disclosure Standards Board, and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) into ISSB Standards.

• It secured endorsement of its Standards by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and published a roadmap for supporting jurisdictional adoption.

Florent Kaiser, CEO of Global Forest Generation and Earthshot Prize Winner, has unveiled the extraordinary accomplishments of Acción Andina. Áslak Holmberg, President of the Saami Council, is a pioneering leader who fights for the rights of 80.000 Indigenous people in the Arctic - on the global stage.

Speaking at the UN, the IPCC or in Davos, Áslak makes sure the world understands what it means to be Indigenous in the middle of Europe; being European citizens, whose rights to their land, their water and their traditional way of making a living, through fishing and reindeer herding, is being denied. 

“We are colonized by 4 European countries: Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden. That means, we are not in charge of our own territories, governing or livelihood.”

🎤 Indigenous communities as the Custodians of our planet, because they live in peace with nature. They are driven by sustainability, not by growth, by their love of the environment not by terrorizing it. 

🎤 Despite comprising 5% of the world‘s population, Indigenous people protect 80% of the Earth's biodiversity. We are in urgent need of their knowledge if we really want to tackle climate change and the loss of biodiversity.

🎤 The Saami deserve a seat at the table – so do all representatives of the global Indigenous community. There are more than 476 million Indigenous people in the world, spread across 90 countries and representing 5,000 different cultures, living in all geographic regions. 

🎤 Since 2007, the UN’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples contains a legally vague, yet symbolically significant, recognition of Indigenous people’s rights over the development of their own territories. It can only be just the start. 

🎤 Today, young leaders like Áslak are being listened to in the international arena – but not in the nation states that occupy them and strip them of their rights. Norway, for example, has illegally built the world’s largest onshore wind farm with 1.000 turbines on Saami land, effectively killing one of the two ways the Saami can make a living in that area. 

🎤 Áslak has for the past decade worked with Saami and indigenous issues through NGOs, the Saami parliament, as well as through activism and academia. He is a fisherman, teacher and holds a master’s degree in Indigenous studies.

Dr Pedro Gouveia, Surgeon of the Breast Unit of the Champalimaud Clinical Centre in Lisbon, performed the first successful breast cancer operation in the Metaverse. While he and the patient were in the operating theatre at the Champalimaud Foundation in Portugal, his colleague was intervening and supervising from the University of Zaragoza in Spain - 900 kilometres away.

Destination Earth is a high precision digital model of the Earth. 

It is the EU’s flagship initiative to create a digital replica of our entire planet. "This replica is a Digital Twin in fact. It’s a gigantic task, that requires the world’s biggest computing to create the most precise data to tackle climate change.” That’s how Dr. Peter Bauer describes this 7 billion Euro project which he heads. 

It's part of the EU’s Green Deal to tackle climate change and it is meant to provide pinpoint evidence-based support to enable Member States to implement the green transformation. Destination Earth aims to provide the complex software and hardware environment needed for the next generation of very high-resolution prediction models. By 2030, a full digital replica of Earth and all its resources is expected to have been achieved.

What Tomer is describing is ClimateOs - an extraordinary technology that his company has created and rolled out in less than 3 years. Mit Anfang 20 zog Fabian nach Shanghai, gründete eine chinesisch-europäische KI- und Big Data-gesteuerte Plattform, die mit Hilfe von Algorithmen das Konsumverhalten analysiert. “China ist zu 90 Prozent eine positive Geschichte", sagt er. Bis 2030 wird Chinas Mittelschicht die Hälfte der globalen Mittelschicht ausmachen. Und Europa? "Wir müssen den Digitalmarkt dringend regulieren und schützen. Der ist unsere Zukunft - und nicht vergleichbar mit einer Auto- oder Luftfahrtindustrie. Eher mit unserem Wasser- und Energiesystem."

"Wir haben uns verpflichtet, Nachhaltigkeit global messbar zu machen", sagt Volker Krug, CEO Deloitte Deutschland. Das umsatzstärkste Wirtschaftsprüfungsunternehmen der Welt ist aktiver Vorantreiber der Transformation. Schon im Herbst 2020 hatten sich die vier größten Wirtschaftsprüfer, zusammen mit dem World Economic Forum, erstmals auf die Einführung eines konkreten Maßnahmenkatalogs für die Messung der Nachhaltigkeit geeinigt. Nun wird umgesetzt. "Es geht um langfristigen unternehmerischen Erfolg", so Volker Krug. "Die ESG's sind zwar nicht der alleinige Erfolgsfaktor, aber doch ein enormer." Wir sprechen über die vielen neuen EU- und Regierungsrichtlinien zu Klima & Nachhaltigkeit und wie diese von der Wirtschaft realisiert werden können. Weshalb es nur "mit Mut, Ehrlichkeit, Freude und dem Blick nach vorn geht." Über Deloitte's World Class Education Challenge, 50 Millionen Menschen bis 2030 weltweit zu einer besseren Bildung zu verhelfen. Die Vereinten Nationen rufen auf zur Großen Transformation: “Wir befinden uns in einer Zeit radikaler Unsicherheit - und brauchen einen Paradigmenwechsel”, sagt Achim Steiner, #3 bei den VN und Leiter der größten Organisation, dem Entwicklungsprogramm. Mit 17.000 Mitarbeitern und einem Jahres-Budget von 5 Milliarden Dollar ist er zuständig für die Umsetzung der Nachhaltigkeitsziele und damit für die Abschaffung der weltweiten Armut. “Wir müssen den wirtschaftlichen Kompass komplett neu ausrichten, die Dominanz des Bruttosozialprodukts überwinden.” Achim Steiner spricht über die angebrochene Epoche des Anthropozäns, in der schon heute der Mensch über die Natur herrscht. Wie eine Abkehr vom Wirtschaftswachstum den Krieg gegen die Natur beenden kann, ob der globale “Schulden-Tsunami" einen Schuldenschnitt zur Folge hat, weshalb durch Covid-19 Hunderte Millionen Menschen neu in die Armut abgerutscht sind und es unverantwortlich ist, dass 10 reiche Länder 87 Prozent des weltweiten Impfstoffes haben. Wir brauchen, so Steiner, "gerade jetzt einen starken Multilateralismus und einen neuen Gesellschaftsvertrag, der festlegt, wie wir in Zukunft miteinander umgehen wollen." Es wird nur im Einklang mit der Natur gehen.

Siemens setzt neue Standards in der Industrie 4.0: Das Elektronikwerk in Amberg wurde vom World Economic Forum zum globalen Leuchtturm, zu einer der besten Fabriken der Welt gekürt. Durch konsequente Automatisierung und Digitalisierung - vom Internet der Dinge, Digitale Zwillinge, Smart Robotics, bis Cloud und Edge Computing. Cedrik Neike, Siemens-Vorstand und CEO Digital Industries: "Größe macht keinen Unterschied. Für Unternehmen im 21. "Nur 9 von 1.700 europäischen Unternehmen vor Ort profitieren von Chinas Seidenstraßen-Projekt", sagt Jörg Wuttke, Präsident der Europäischen Handelskammer in Peking. Trotzdem gilt: "Wer Asien verpaßt, der verpaßt ein globaler Spieler zu sein." Vor über 30 Jahren in China angekommen, hat Jörg Wuttke bereits die deutsche Handelskammer mitbegründet. Heute ist er zudem Chairman der China Task Force der OECD sowie Mitglied des Beratergremiums des Mercator Institute for China Studies. Mit diesem hat er die gerade Studie veröffentlicht: "Entkopplung - Getrennte Wege und Patchwork-Globalisierung." Ein Rundumgespräch über europäisch-chinesische Wirtschaftsinteressen.
