It became one of the biggest movies in the United States. David Stassen & Ike Barinholtz talk about Maximum Truth's funniest moments, their friendship, working with Dylan O'Brien, and The Mindy Project

Director and writer, David Stassen, along with actor and writer Ike Barinholtz, have reunited again to bring one of the most hilariously funny and highly satirical films to the big screen this year, Maximum Truth. This project adds to a list of hilarious projects the two have worked on together, including The Mindy Project and, more recently, History of The World: Part II. David and Ike are two of the smartest and funniest people I know. It was a joy to reconnect with them again. I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt!

The two of them are geniuses and have proven that time and time again. Enjoy the three of us making fun of one another, talking inside jokes, me hitting on Ike as usual (all in good fun), and us laughing our way through discussing this film. Exclusive: Queen Charlotte's Freddie Dennis discusses Reynolds, that "hand" scene, and BTS stories

We spoke to Freddie Dennis from Netflix's latest hit, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. This is a spin-off/prequel of the successful Netflix original series Bridgerton. Dennis plays Reynolds, who works for the King and secretly has a relationship with the Queen's man, Brimsley (Sam Clemmett). While the series focuses on Queen Charlotte and King George (their initial meeting, marriage, and such) -- Reynolds and Brimsley became fan favorites as they had to hide their relationship. It's the first LGBTQIA+ story told in the Bridgerton world, and Dennis said he could not be more honored to be a part of it. While Dennis gave a lot of credit to his fellow actors, the writers, and the crew of the show -- he went into detail on how he decided to play Reynolds, the conversations he had with Sam to make sure they were getting it right, and some of his favorite scenes to shoot. We also talk about the graceful hand-touching scene (with no dialogue) that happens (if you know, you know). Dennis is one of the easiest people to connect with -- before we hit record, we chatted about where each of us was, how it was sunny in London, and just about life in general. Dennis is exceptionally humble and fights every compliment I give him. However, I think I got through in the end. After dissecting his character, we both spoke about what he is up to now and if there will be a second season of Queen Charlotte that we desperately want.

Jennifer Esposito (Director/Writer/Actor) discusses Fresh Kill's World premiere at Tribeca

Jennifer Esposito (Director/Writer/Actor) discusses Fresh Kill's World premiere at Tribeca

We met with the triple threat (Director/Writer/Actor) Jennifer Esposito to discuss the world premiere of her film Fresh Kills at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. While the film is based in the mob world in NY (specifically Staten Island), Esposito went out of her way to make sure that not only would the film be as accurate and as authentic as possible -- but that it would be told from a women's perspective for the first time. In a lot of these films, the men are the ones carrying the movie. However, for Esposito, hearing from the often voiceless, the women behind the men was essential. Esposito and I broke down a few scenes without giving too much away because this is a MUST-WATCH at the festival.

Synopsis:

The daughters of the Larusso family struggle to break the unspoken code of the women behind the men in the mob world of Staten Island in the late '80s and early '90s. Unlike any mob movie you’ve ever seen before, FRESH KILLS reveals the women behind the men. The stories never told. Violence, fear, and unspoken rules dictate who they are and who they are allowed to become.

'With Love' cast talks relationships, inclusion, diversity, and sex for season two premiere

Prime Video's hit show, 'With Love,' brought its cast together to discuss its second season, answering everything we want to know, like where is everyone since the season one finale? Will there still be a triangle between Lily, Nate, and Santiago? What holiday will we see the family celebrate next? -- and of course, who will be the next one to get married or fall in love? Answering some of these and more, we spoke with Emeraude Toubia, Rome Flynn, Desmond Chiam, Mark Indelicato, Vincent Rodriguez III, Isis King, Todd Grinnell, Constance Marie, and Benito Martinez. The cast told stories of what it's like working together on and off screen, why it's critical to show such a variety of relationships (no matter what your sexuality is), the importance of culture and family, and how you are never too old to be sexy or too old to have sex. Enjoy a remarkably open and frank conversation with the cast of, With Love.

Josh Bonzie star of Hulu's 'Saint X' talks stereotypes, discrimination, the "slip," and his emotional ending

Josh Bonzie star of Hulu's 'Saint X' talks stereotypes, discrimination, the "slip," and his emotional ending

Saint X star Josh Bonzie revisited the podcast to discuss his hit from Hulu called Saint X. Bonzie had previously been on the podcast to discuss what fans could expect when Saint X was released on Hulu. Now that all of the episodes are out, Bonzie and I really got into some of the significant issues the show addresses regarding race, assumptions, stereotypes, discrimination, and how all of this can stem from one incident in your life. Bonzie plays Clive "Gogo" Richardson, who works at a fancy resort when a young attractive white woman goes missing and is ultimately found dead. For the rest of his life, Gogo has to face the repercussions of that one incident. If you haven't seen the show, I would recommend watching all of it before listening to this podcast because spoilers are ahead. But it was fascinating to hear from Bonzie again and really break down how fast your entire life can change with something entirely out of your hands and how this happens to various targeted communities all the time.

Exclusive: Violet Brinson from 'Walker' reveals favorite scenes, Jared & Jensen shenanigans, and the evolution of Stella

We spoke with Violet Brinson from The CW hit, 'Walker,' about how her character, Stella, has evolved from the first script she received to now. Brinson was a delight because she was willing to answer everything and anything. We took a deep dive into the reasoning behind Stella's decisions -- if she would make a good ranger, Stella's future, and what it's like being a part of the Walker family. We discussed the careful balance between comedy and drama (as we know, there is a lot of drama on the show). We had so much fun. Brinson also revealed the latest topics and messages in the group chat between the cast, what it's like playing Jared Padalecki's daughter, and how much she has learned from the cast and crew over time. We even heard about more pranks and jokes while on set and what it was like when Jensen came in to direct. Violet said it was something special seeing Jared and Jensen together. We joked a lot about Jared and Jensen, but hearing more stories (including some from that carnival-themed episode) was awesome. Brinson is one of the sweetest humans on the planet. We got along from the second we both appeared on Zoom. We covered everything, and I owe her a good gallop lesson when I come on set next season. Violet is THE BEST. I can't wait to see her in person. I hope you enjoy listening to all things Stella and Walker from the one and only Violet Brinson!

Wallker Independence's Katie Findlay talks industry, filming, and possible cancellation

We spoke with Katie Findlay, who currently stars on The CW's Walker Independence. Fans were disappointed when the network decided not to renew the show for a second season. So, while the show remains in limbo with hopes of finding a home somewhere else, we spoke with Katie about her history in the industry, why she loved working on the show so much, and what her hopes are moving forward. Katie was one of the nicest people I have ever spoken to and I felt so comfortable speaking with her that we could have a deep and honest conversation that was extremely refreshing. So I hope the show finds a home, but if not I am sure we will be seeing Katie on another great project soon.

Exclusive: 'From' stars Ricky He & Avery Konrad talk about MGM+'s hit show, its cult following, and try to answer "what is going on"

We spoke to Ricky He and Avery Konrad about their roles in MGM+'s hit show, From. The show had a fantastic first season, and due to word of mouth, streaming, and such, the show has quickly become a fan favorite (cult-like), where everyone is obsessively trying to figure out what will happen next. Ricky He, plays Kenny Liu, who is a good man that slowly inches his way, sort of by accident, into a role of leadership. However, this season he really steps into that role, but He warns things are about to get even crazier for the group that, has already had all sorts of strange happenings, losses, and weird sightings that disappear. Meanwhile, Avery Konrad plays Sara Myers, who has always been quiet but is seen talking to herself and having creepy messages morphed onto her arm. She has begun to make decisions that could affect her existence in the town and directly affect her relationship with everyone. I joked with Konrad that I was so happy that she didn't die in season one, but Konrad got into what was going on in Sara's mind and what will happen as the season goes on and the messages get stronger. I asked Ricky and Avery, 'Alright, so what is going on in this town,' to which they both gave exciting answers, but I think even by the time this season ends, I will have more questions than answers. It was terrific speaking to Ricky and Avery, who got very invested in their characters and the phenomenon that has taken over this show. Both couldn't be more gratful for the fans and how much they love From and really want to know, WHAT IS GOING ON!

Hulu's latest show 'Saint X' has major twists & turns; cast talks about stereotypes, looking within and whats to come

We sat down with Leila Gerstein (executive producer), Josh Bonzie, Alycia Debnam-Carey, West Duchovny, Jayden Elijah, Michael Park, and Betsy Brandt to discuss their latest thriller to hit on Hulu called 'Saint X.' All of the actors spoke about the importance of this show and how some of your initial judgments going into the first episode might say more about you than it does the characters you are watching. While the show is full of constant twists and turns (going back and forth from the past to the present), it also regularly addresses serious issues, including stereotypes, racism, sexuality, media attention, tragedy, and more. While the show is heavy, there are lessons to learn from it. All of the actors spoke about how they worked on their characters, who made them better, how they got through some of the more challenging scenes, and what they did to lighten the mood while on set.

Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan & cast discuss reimagining of 'Fatal Attraction' from film to limited series

The series stars Joshua Jackson as Dan Gallagher, Lizzy Caplan as Alex Forrest, Amanda Peet as Beth Gallagher, Toby Huss as Mike Gerard, Brian Goodman as Arthur Tomlinson, Alyssa Jirrels as Ellen Gallagher, and Reno Wilson as Detective Earl Brooker -- all of which sat down to discuss what it was like working on a show that is a reimaging of the original cult classic film. One of the most intense scenes, for me, was with Jackson was the initial parol hearing to which Jackson added that was done the first day of shooting. Caplan and I discussed how she isn't playing just a "crazy" woman and how things have changed a lot since the original film was made. For the rest of the cast, they discuss what their characters are thinking with each one breaking down how their relationship started with Dan and how it ends up years later. We also spoke to the Alexandra Cunningham (“Dirty John,” “Chance”) serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the series alongside executive producer Kevin J. Hynes (“Perry Mason”), with whom Cunningham developed the series, and executive producers Darryl Frank (“The Americans”) and Justin Falvey (“The Americans”) for Amblin Television. All of whom went into great detail on various scenes they did as an nod to the original film and others they expanded on to create a new universe.

Exclusive: Kat McNamara talks 'Walker:Independence' & 'Outlander' crossover, Abby Walkers arc, and fate of the show

We spoke to Katherine McNamara shortly after announcements were made, leaving 'Walker: Independence' in limbo. Not sure if the show will be picked up or not, we went on to discuss the importance of having a show like it on the network, how much change it was doing, and the importance of being able to show a vast range of people coming together despite their differences to work towards a common goal. McNamara and I spoke about a possible Outlander and Walker: Independence crossover (I would love for it to happen, and McNamara is friends with the cast of Outlander, including its male lead, Sam Heughan). We also went over Abby's journey, how Abby could sleep with Tom, my hope that she has at least a one-night stand with Hoyt next season, and of course, where we stand regarding the show moving forward. McNamara is one of the nicest people to talk to; she has become a great friend and spent extra time with me to make sure she answered all of my questions and a rapid-fire of fan questions pulled from Twitter. She is generous, she is gorgeous inside and out, and she is a fantastic person. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a renewal or a pickup somewhere.

Synopsis:

Set in the late 1800s, an origin story of the series "Walker," "Walker Independence" follows Abby Walker, an affluent and tough-minded Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. Abby arrives in the town of Independence, Texas, where she encounters diverse and eclectic residents running from their pasts, chasing their dreams, and keeping their own secrets. Abby runs into Hoyt Rawlins, a slippery rogue, thief, and con artist with a dented heart of gold who quickly eyes Abby as a mark, until she turns the tables on him. In seeking justice for her husband, Abby and Hoyt soon find themselves precariously aligned, both seeking to uncover the truth about the identity of Abby's husband's killer, and vow to save Independence -- a frontier boomtown where nothing is what it seems.

Exclusive: Benny Safdie talks about religion, growing up, and 'Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret'

We spoke with Benny Safdie about his latest beloved film, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. Safdie told some great stories about his life and personal connection to the film, even though he was shocked that they thought of him for the role. Safdie, who is known for some outlandish characters in some of the other films he has been in and/or worked on, said he has never opened himself up to a role that was this similar to his life (since Safdie is a dad who lives in a dual religion household). Safdie told some great stories about how he worked on making Herb the best dad he could be, the importance of a movie like this, his happiness that it has done so well, and the importance of enjoying being a kid while you can (because let's be honest, adulting isn't fun). So, if you loved the film, you will want to listen to Safdie's fun stories about making it and even his first interaction with Kathy Bates (which includes a story about her infamous role in misery).

Katie Holmes, Alan Cumming, Derek Luke & Julia Mayorga talk perseverance and hope in 'Rare Objects'

Katie Holmes, Alan Cumming, Derek Luke & Julia Mayorga talk perseverance and hope in 'Rare Objects'

Katie Holmes, who directed, co-wrote with Phaedon A. Papadopoulos, and starred in 'Rare Objects' sat down with her co-stars Julia Mayorga (American Rust), Derek Luke (upcoming in Disney+ series The Crossover), and Alan Cumming (host of hit series The Traitors) to discuss the importance of never giving up, being okay not being okay, and taking things in one day at a time in their latest film. Holmes, who said the story is about friendship, also reiterated the importance of self-discovery. Adding that this project was one, she knew she had to adapt and direct. Meanwhile, Mayorga said while her character goes through a personal tragedy, she enjoyed the freedom, as an actor, to explore the character and watch her find her strength. Meanwhile, Luke and Cumming said they were happy to play characters that were emotional and flawed, with personal problems to overcome -- yet, one trait they were both particularly proud of was the way their characters were supportive of the women in the film. While all of the cast reflected on various themes in the film during the interviews, for me, the most important thing to take away was that it's okay to fall apart; we can glue ourselves back together.

Exclusive: Meg Donnelly star of 'The Winchesters' gives all of the juicy details behind playing Mary, the cast/crew, and working with Jensen

Meg Donnelly is one of the most authentic people I have ever had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to. We start the conversation by getting properly into 'The Winchesters' -- her character and the cast. We talk about the storyline, her arc, and the future. During the conversation, she constantly praises her fellow castmates, crew, and writers. She downplays a lot of the skills she has infused into Mary, and I find myself continually reminding her of how good she is. After talking about the show for a while, we can't deny the fact that its predecessor Supernatural looms over us in more ways than one. So we begin to talk about what it was like working with Jensen on and off screen, seeing the Impala in person (and getting to drive it), advice Jensen gave her, celebrating Dean's birthday party, and that epic finale. We also manifested hope for a renewal of the show. While we talk, we find ourselves relating to one another in more ways than one as the conversation flows so effortlessly. After I was done recording, we both stayed on for a while, just talking about life and some fun things we can do behind the scenes for season two. It was a joy to get to know Meg on a deeper level, hear about her family, and constantly laugh together. She is a great person to know and hopefully a new friend for life. Enjoy the interview and the fan Q&As we added in at the end!

'Dead Ringers' cast say show's graphic content is necessary, but prepare for the unexpected

'Dead Ringers' cast say show's graphic content is necessary, but prepare for the unexpected

The 'Dead Ringers' cast of Jennifer Ehle, Emily Meade, Britne Oldford, and Poppy Liu talks about the importance of showing what it looks like (graphic or not) when a woman gives birth in their latest thriller. While the show is graphic, the focus remains on the characters and what they are willing to do to stay in each other's lives... or get away from one another. All the female leads said the most important thing was to remain as honest as possible while adding some twists and turns they didn't even see coming. Ehle, Meade, Oldford, and Liu talk about their characters, the emotional toll of the show, working with Rachel, and why a show like this needs to be on air right now. So without giving anything else away, enjoy listening to the cast of Dead Ringers.

Synopsis:

A modern take on David Cronenberg’s 1988 thriller starring Jeremy Irons, Dead Ringers will feature Rachel Weisz playing the double-lead role of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: Drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s healthcare to the forefront. The series’ ensemble cast also includes Britne Oldford as Genevieve, Poppy Liu as Greta, Michael Chernus as Tom, Jennifer Ehle as Rebecca, and Emily Meade as Susan.

Exclusive: Justin Johnson Cortez from 'Walker: Independence,' talks diversity, the indigenous community, and value of the show

We spoke to Justin Johnson Cortez exclusively about all things 'Walker: Independence' and how important having a show that is real and authentic (especially when it comes to diversity, native languages, and wardrobe). Cortez went on to discuss his character, Calian, and how much he evolves over the season from being Abby's friend to ultimately becoming part of the gang trying to take down the "bad guys." Of course we also had to discuss some fun things like his costume, if he took anything from set, and his hair regime (because we are all jealous of the beautiful hair), and the shenaniganson set. Cortez also gave us some insights into some fun happening when the camera was not rolling and what he is looking forward to if the show gets renewed.

Exclusive: Jeff Pierre from 'Walker,' recaps Trey's arc, shares group chat, talks pranks, and where Trey is heading

We exclusively spoke to Jeff Pierre from Walker about his character Trey Barnett and how he went from the military to the boyfriend, to the coach, and ultimately a badass Texas Ranger. Pierre and I discussed everything from what it was like getting the job to the pivotal scenes like the shootout with Cap or the crazy Stella save from the trail. Pierre jokes that he has had so many jobs -- but one that is serious and emotionally meaningful was the day he was told his character would become a ranger. Pierre talks about what it was like putting the outfit on and how he got away with not wearing two belts (it will make sense when you listen to it). Pierre talks about how much he loves the cast and some of the shenanigans that go on in between takes. However, the most important thing I learned in this interview is that Pierre is one of the nicest people on the planet, a fantastic husband and father (we got to do a mini-interview with his daughter), and just a humble human being. His smile is infectious, and we spent so much time just having fun and talking. We came up with some good pranks, and hopefully, if the show is renewed, I will get to come on set and hang out with him and put some of those pranks in motion.

He must attempt to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenage daughter and navigate clashes with his family -- an ADA brother who stepped in during Walker's absence, his perceptive mother and his traditional rancher father. Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death.

Quentin Plair & Sarah Pidgeon from 'Tiny Beautiful Things' talk complicated family dynamics

Quentin Plair & Sarah Pidgeon sat down to talk about their latest project set to air on Hulu called, 'Tiny Beautiful Things.' The limited series, based on the best-selling collection by Cheryl Strayed, “Tiny Beautiful Things,” follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn), a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart. Both Plair and Pidgeon discuss what their characters face throughout the season, dealing with complicated families, and what they hope fans take away from the show.

Synopsis:

When we first meet Clare, her marriage to her husband Danny is barely limping along; her teenage daughter, Rae, is pushing her away; and her once-promising writing career is non-existent. So when an old writing pal asks her to take over as the advice columnist Dear Sugar, she thinks she has no business giving anyone advice. After reluctantly taking on the mantle of Sugar however, Clare’s life unfurls in a complex fabric of memory, exploring her most pivotal moments from childhood through present day, and excavating the beauty, struggle, and humor in her unhealed wounds. Through Sugar, Clare forms a salve for her readers – and for herself – to show us that we are not beyond rescue, that our stories can ultimately save us. And, perhaps, bring us back home.

Exclusive: Joshua Malina takes a stroll down memory lane on epic roles and talks new role in Leopoldstadt

Joshua Malina (best known for shows like West Wing and Scandal) met with me to talk about his epic career and theatre stints along the way, including his latest run in Leopoldstadt. Malina is such a pleasure to meet because he exceeds your expectations. I have met him in the past, and he has always been lovely, but he is one of the most humble actors on the planet. There is a special joy in his eyes when you speak to him about working as an actor. You can see that this is nothing something that he has just "gotten used to" over the years, but rather something he loves and is excited about every second of every day. Of course, I had to bring up one of my favorite characters of all time from Scandal. Still, we go over many of his projects with Malina, excited about every single one and thankful for everyone, leading to his latest role in the play, Leopoldstadt. From the clips I have seen, the play is funny, but profound. It's topical and important. Malina talks about why this play is unlike anything he has ever done, adding that he did not hesitate for a second when offered the role. When discussing how hard it might be to do so many shows a day, Malina said he doesn't want to complain, and that he is thankful and will continue working because he loves it. Listen to Malina as he excitedly talks about his projects and impressively has remained humble as pie. I just love his smile and joy, it's very contagious!
