Silly Mundane Things

... to the land of Disney & Pixar’s Soul! This episode, Patrick and Becky are joined by their friend and fellow podcaster, Brendan Black, from Talk Ag to Me, as they dive into the world of the movie, Soul! Silly and mundane, and also personal and meaningful, is this name of the game this episode as they explore the beautiful, moving, and thought provoking movie about what it means to live, your purpose, and your spark. With Brendan working towards becoming a teacher, the trio also discusses what has made a good teacher to them over the years, and share stories of some of the teachers that have had the most impact in their lives.

It’s that time of year again - it’s the Silly Mundane Things holiday episode! Or at least Patrick and Becky attempt a holiday themed episode just in time for the days after the new year ha ha. They get caught up talking the new Taylor albums, folklore and evermore, although ‘tis the season right? So maybe it is holiday themed! They talk holiday movies from classics like It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf (and a digression into Will Ferrell), to Hallmark movies. And they end on a discussion of the show, One Night Only: The Best of Broadway, and a special end discussion featuring a Christmas commercial which may or may not make Patrick cry. 

Patrick and Becky travel back in time to April 2020. This episode was recorded a while ago and we weren’t sure what to do with it - was it too serious, not serious enough. We wanted to try to bring some lightness to difficult times but it was also really important for us to be thoughtful to how everyone was feeling. We’re not sure if we got it right but relistening to it, and with a bit more time and space, we felt there was enough worth releasing. So we thought with 2020 coming to a close, we’d release this as a bonus episode and a little time capsule of earlier this year.

We mostly try to find some of the lightness we could at the time and stay out of anything too heavy but if this is not the episode for you we definitely understand that and feel free to skip this one. If you want to stay, we’re happy to have you and please enjoy past Patrick and Becky as we attempt to record back in April!

A new season, a new title style, and a new year! Well technically the same year still... right? Welcome to the first episode of Season 2, also known as Episode 4 (not confusing at all right?)! Patrick and Becky catch up and update each other and the show on their respective 2020s while trying to keep things light, one might say silly and mundane. Patrick discusses some of his positives this year throughout it all - new job, new house! Becky finds help, comfort, and meaning in Animal Crossing, and the show, Love Island. Who knew islands would be so comforting! Patrick also learns about the greatness that is the narrator Matthew Hoffman and Caesar’s Palace!

What were some of the things that made your year maybe just a little bit better? (Speaking of which, is anyone else excited for Evermore! We are excited to be officially starting Season 2 on the same day as the release! We’d understand if you need to listen to Evermore first, and maybe again, and again.)
