TPTA11: Understanding Your Audience
Episode 11 was graced by musician Binyomin Ginzberg (of Breslov Bar Band). Binyomin has had such a vast array of experiences, from performing at all types of events (whether individually or as part of the two bands he’s put together) to releasing albums and even writing and publishing a book. Be it arrangements, transcriptions, or even retrieving nuggets of Jewish music history, Binyomin has so much to offer. I’m delighted that he was able to share some insights with us.

TPTA5: What ELSE does Hillel say?
In episode 5, we get to hear what can be considered part 2 of the conversation with Hillel Kapnick. Simcha offers some more depth and background to the questions that were addressed while continuing to cross-reference many of the overlapping concepts mentioned in prior and future episodes. Some of the topics discussed are 1) Should an artist make sure to be proud of every project they're affiliated with? 2) Is it the artist promoting the song or the song promoting the artist? 3) How involved should the artist be in the process when he/she already has a team?

In episode 4, multi-faceted music man Hillel Kapnick (16:00ish) shares some of his experiences and offers some valuable tips for individuals who are in the early stages of their musical pursuits.
In the opener, the term "ittmr" is introduced. Ittmr is an abbreviation of... wait, this isn't Cliff Notes. Listen to the episode to find out!

Episode 3! Simcha is joined by a longtime friend, Eli Daitchman, for the entirety of this episode.
Jewish Music seems to have two simple criteria- it should be Jewish and it should be music, right? But can these two terms actually be defined adequately? What are the qualifications? What is the standard? Who decides what the threshold is and/or when someone has breached that boundary? Who dictates the direction of JM and its pace of evolution?
Simcha & Eli have a very lively and entertaining conversation as they discuss golf (there’s a valid reason; please believe me!), as well as non-Jewish trends, sounds, and flat-out unabashed copying that trickles into JM. They discuss song lyrics, authenticity, and they hopelessly contemplate how/if there can be a common ground in JM where the artists can be the best [genuine, consistent] versions of themselves while still inspiring their listeners and without losing a segment of their fanbase in the process.
Let’s not forget the impetus of this episode: HOW REALISTIC IS YERAKRAK?! (Hint: Very)

TPTA1: Four composers, two Bais guys, and some laughs
Vocalist AY Karsh joins for a phone convo. He shares some of the diverse experiences that he's enjoyed as a performer. AY may even have some news to share, as well...
In the opening segment, Simcha takes us back to the early Shwekey days as we relive the emergence of some of his composers from back then. The “You mean that’s the same guy?!” reaction is introduced; one of the underlying themes of this podcast.

TPTA- Pre1A: Welcome, Overview, Why (WOW)
In this introductory episode, Simcha wastes no time demonstrating why he was selected to lead this project and run this podcast. His passion for Jewish music is on full display and he gives you a glimpse of his silly side, as well. Simcha will have to get used to writing about himself in third person.
