3 Ways to Simplify Your Social Media Strategy in 2024

3 Ways to Simplify Your Social Media Strategy in 2024

How you are going keeping up with your social media presence for your business?

There are so many platforms now that it feels almost impossible to be consistently present on all of them. And even if you can post daily on all platforms, is it really helping to grow your business and make more sales?

I spend a lot of time on social media, particularly on TikTok and Instagram - as a consumer. I love watching the trends pop up and seeing how creative people are.

But while I can easily spend a couple of hours scrolling through TikTok, I’m not as eager to spend the same amount of time posting there. And I’m not interested in creating flashy and time-consuming content.

So I don’t! And you don’t have to either.

I like to share something helpful, chat with people, and then move on with my day. So I’ve set up my socials and my systems to do a lot of the heavy lifting for me in terms of list growth and sales, and that frees me up to just ENJOY my time on social media, not feel pressured by it.

Today I thought I’d run you through what that looks like in case you find it helpful and want to set up something similar for your business!

How to simplify the process of finding a VA for your business with Newcastle Virtual Assistants

How to simplify the process of finding a VA for your business with Newcastle Virtual Assistants

Being a business owner often means wearing multiple hats and juggling multiple tasks all by yourself. You want to do it all because you’re very conscious of your budget and need to be able to afford to run your business as it grows. But once you start to see consistent sales and cash flow, you get even busier managing your deliverables, and your business growth should not come at the expense of your efficiency or your personal wellbeing.

When that momentum starts to build - that’s when you need to hire help, and a Virtual Assistant (or VA) is the ideal place to start!

Your VA can take care of so many business tasks, freeing you up to focus on the core activities that really need you - your face, your experience, your personality. But many entrepreneurs, particularly those in the first few years of running their business, find the process of finding and hiring a VA a bit too overwhelming, and as a result tend to put it off and struggle on by themselves (often burning out in the process!)

Where do you begin when looking for a VA? What should you look for in terms of their skills? How do you ensure they align with your business values and needs?

My guest today one half of an incredible team that specialises in helping business owners find the perfect VA, and helping VAs establish their virtual assistant business so that the client & VA relationship can be the perfect match! They help people demystify the process, providing clear, actionable insights to seamlessly integrate a VA into the business, ensuring that it’s not just another task to check off your to do list, but a strategic move towards sustainable growth and work-life balance.

Founded in February 2019, the Newcastle Virtual Assistants is the brainchild of Adrienne Donnelly and Jane Ekholm.

They are passionate about the Virtual Assistant industry in Australia and provide a space for their members to thrive, offering them mentoring, resources, guidance, connection, and learning opportunities.

They not only act as a conduit between business owners and local Virtual Assistants through education and matchmaking, they also work with industry partners to continue to raise the profile and ensure the quality of the VA industry in our community, and beyond.

Adrienne and Jane have helped more than 40 business owners find a VA through their matchmaking service, and they’re looking forward to helping even more people in the business community! They understand that business owners put off the search because they are time poor, and that is how they can help.

Tune in as Adrienne and I chat about one of the common pain points for business owners when it comes to the search for a VA, how a matchmaking service can help that pain point, some success stories of people they have helped, and how their matchmaking service came to life!

Embracing the power of creativity in business with Paul Pape

Embracing the power of creativity in business with Paul Pape

We’re talking about creativity today because creatives are often undervalued and restrained.

People think being creative is a soft skill, a nice thing to do but don’t consider it a business builder - and they’re wrong.

Whether you work for yourself or for a company, your creativity is one of your most powerful assets.

Companies and corporations suffer from high turnover, lack of job ownership and loss of profits because they focus on enforcing how someone else did the job before the new hire and stifling all ability to let employees adjust their job to work better individually, providing higher efficiency, pride in their work and overall happiness with their job. Employees are humans, not machines.

And for business owners, creativity is a must if you’re looking to stand out and really connect with your customers. The ability to think outside the box can transform your brand, making it more relatable and memorable to your target audience. Embracing creativity leads to innovative approaches to marketing, product development, and customer experience , not to mention increased engagement and loyalty. In a marketplace where consumers are bombarded with choices, letting creativity lead the way is your best strategy to capture attention and drive your business success.

My guest today is on a mission is to inspire and empower Creatives with the tools they need to be successful, and to teach corporations to embrace the creativity of their employees!

Paul Pape is a seasoned artist, designer, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the creative industry. Paul’s journey began with a passion for education stemming from a need to escape an abusive childhood. Eventually, he found his way to design and fabrication, which led to the creation of thousands of personalised products for clients worldwide. In recent years, Paul has pivoted to empowering fellow Creatives, sharing his expertise and insights to help them transform their passions into successful businesses. As a speaker, educator, and mentor, Paul inspires others to unleash their creative potential and find fulfilment in their personal and professional lives.

Tune in as Paul and I talk about the turning point that made him realise his passion for helping others tap into their creative potential, how he adapts his approach to creativity and empowerment to fit the unique needs of diverse clients, some common misconceptions about creativity in the business world, and how to figure out what to charge when you’re a Creative!

Business Lifestyle balance: Guilt Free Fun with Emily-Jane Sarroff

Business Lifestyle balance: Guilt Free Fun with Emily-Jane Sarroff

So many of us think owning a business is going to give us better work life balance than a 9-5 or working under someone else, but the reality is many new business owners end up working 24/7, burning out, getting sick, and it’s almost seen as a right of passage for business owners.

At this point we start to make the necessary changes, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could skip the struggle and simply follow a better path from the start?

If you’re not enjoying your day to day journey of building your business, you won’t be able to fully enjoy or appreciate your results when you do start seeing your definition of success.

My guest today is on a mission to show entrepreneurs that the possibilities of what they can achieve in life is truly limitless and that the only thing that is stopping them from getting from where they are now to where they want to be, is their mindset & skillset (both of which you have the power to shift).

Emily-Jane Sarroff is a graduate of Architectural Design, Jay Shetty Certified Life Coach, Business Mentor, social media figure, host of the Empower with Em Podcast, and a 6 figure business owner.

Her goal is to help people build their biz around their dream lifestyle, and not let their business dictate their life.

Listen in as Em and I discuss why biz owners commonly feel guilt for having fun, some actionable steps to combat that, the importance of having fun in your biz - and the return on investment you get from it!

Is restless marketing hurting your sales results?

Is restless marketing hurting your sales results?

Are you jumping between marketing strategies without allowing them time to start working?

The allure of new marketing trends can be appealing- you notice someone else doing something you haven’t seen before , perceive them as more successful than you and feel like you should ditch your current strategy and follow theirs instead.

I don’t blame you. We live in a world of instant downloads and short attention spans and constantly chasing the new at the expense of nurturing the now.

The truth is, most effective marketing strategies are like planting a garden; they require time, care, and consistency to see results.

Jumping from one approach to another is like uprooting seedlings before they have a chance to grow, leaving you with nothing.

Here's what to do instead!

How to stop waiting till you’re ready and start selling now

How to stop waiting till you’re ready and start selling now

Ok business owner, you have honed your skills, perfected your craft, and you're ready to make a real difference in people's lives.

But there's one catch—you haven't actually started selling your coaching, services or courses because you don’t quite feel like you’re ready yet.

What’s holding you back?

Do you feel like your offers need to be perfect before you can sell them?

I’ve worked with small business owners for years now, and I’ve noticed it’s the same 3 blocks that come up repeatedly when it comes to selling their products and services:

  • They think they can’t make offers until their website is perfect
  • They don’t have testimonials yet to sell their offer for them
  • They’re focused too much on creation and not enough on selling.

Let’s look at each of these in a little more detail.

The necessary healing that will grow your business with Sophie Jones

The necessary healing that will grow your business with Sophie Jones

How are you feeling right now, as a business owner?

Do any of these resonate with you right now?

“There has to be more to success than just money”

“Owning my own business can be lonely - I miss the support I had when I worked at my regular job”

“I’m showing up and doing all the things but feeling unfulfilled”

“I’ve had some great achievements but they’ve come at a price”

“I’m not sure I can sustain where I’m at in my business, let alone go to the next level.

Running your own business isn’t just about making money. You left the 9-5 to do something you love, to help people, to live and work on your own terms. You’re the heart & soul, the engine of your business, so there needs to be more to it than just leads, sales, and profits if you’re going to feel a sense of fulfilment from it.

When was the last time you paused and took note of how you’re feeling?

Are you slogging it out trying to get enough clients, deliver the work on time, pay your bills and hopefully make some money for you too.

It might be time to shift focus a little, and give some attention to your personal wellbeing as a business owner.

You can accomplish so much more when you’re feeling good in your body, mind and spirit, and I’ve got the perfect guest to help you with that!

Sophie Jones is a distinguished business coach and breath work facilitator who helps entrepreneurs and professionals overcome limiting patterns that hinder their personal and professional growth.

Sophie faced adversity in her early twenties as a victim of human trafficking. Undeterred, she immersed herself in personal development and hard work, obtaining her real estate license at 23 and becoming a top producer in four different cities within a 12-year time period.

In 2018, Sophie underwent a transformative shift, redefining her concept of success. Confronting challenges such as alcoholism and workaholism, she embraced sobriety and discovered the profound impact of breath work. This pivotal moment set her on a path to guide individuals with similar experiences.

Sophie specialises in working with outwardly successful individuals – CEOs, creatives, and entrepreneurs – who, despite conventional success, grapple with feelings of unworthiness and self-sabotage. Her approach focuses on internal transformations, helping clients achieve success from within. Sophie's no-nonsense personality creates an environment conducive to openness, facilitating significant transformations for her clients.

Listen in as Sophie and I discuss why healing is necessary when growing your business, how breath work cultivates self-trust, what was it like building 5 businesses, her advice for someone just starting out, and the best way to realign with your purpose and power when going through hard time in life or business!

How to create reliable passive income with your online course with Abi Prendergast

How to create reliable passive income with your online course with Abi Prendergast

We talk about online courses a LOT here on the podcast because they’re such a game changer in your business when it comes to increasing your cash flow and freeing up your time.

Passive in my experience applies to everything once it’s all set up and working - you’ve created your product, you have a sales & delivery process set up for it, and you have a marketing strategy that actually converts.

So it’s not completely effort free, but it’s so much freer and easier than filling your week with 40 hours of on one on one coaching or services! I recommend adding an online course to pretty everyone I work with.

So what’s the best way to SELL your online program and create a RELIABLE passive income stream?

Most course creators rely on live launches to sell their course. But they can be quite unpredictable, especially the first few times you do it, and they come with a lot of risk because of their short time frame and “feast or famine” nature. All it takes is one broken link or misaligned message in your launch for profits to tank and the whole thing to flop. That’s a lot of pressure!

Equally, when creators go evergreen the traditional way, their conversion rates plummet, and the dream of passive income feels like it’s moving further out of reach.

What a lot of course creators don’t realise is there’s another way to sell that takes the best of both of these options and leads to predictable passive income and sustainable growth. You can "launch" with a profitable evergreen system and use ongoing, automated customer feedback to dial in your messaging and improve your sales conversions over time.

No more stressing and guessing your way to more course sales. You’ll have audience insights to inform you of where any leaky holes are and how to plug them!

My guest today Abi Prendergast is the creator (and soon-to-be author!) of Day #1 Evergreen -- the automated funnel that's built to convert better every month.

For years, Abi wrote launch copy for some of the biggest names in the course industry, including Amy Porterfield and Copyhackers. Eventually, the nail-biting pressure of live launches got to her, so she created a system that equips creators to hop off that live launch roller coaster and create a reliable flow of passive income in their business.

If you’ve been struggling with your passive product sales or procrastinating on creating them, or want to move away from live launches without a big drop in cash flow, you’re going to love what Abi has to share!

Listen in as Abi and I chat about the biggest challenge course creators face in 2024, why course creators shouldn't validate their online course before jumping into evergreen, how listeners can collect customer feedback & improve conversions, and what Abi includes in her Day #1 Evergreen funnel to increase conversion rates!

The power of staying solo as a business owner with Maggie Patterson

The power of staying solo as a business owner with Maggie Patterson

So you’ve been running your service business for a while now, and things are going well! You’ve got a steady stream of clients who are loving what you do, and you’re finding yourself getting busier and busier.

This is usually the point when we solo business owners start to think about what comes next for the business.

We see other business owners get to this point and start to focus on scaling and growing their business by hiring and training team members to help with the workload.

But what if you don’t want to manage a team? What if you’re happy with how things are, and want to bring in great money and help your clients without having to hire and train other people to do it with you? What if you love being a sole trader and want to achieve your business goals but still have a life? What if that one size fits all business framework, actually doesn’t fit with what YOU want?

You can build a simple and sustainable service business that aligns with your lifestyle goals as well as your business ones, and my guest today is going to show you how!

Maggie Patterson is the editorial director at Scoop Studios and the creator of BS-Free Business. With two decades of experience, Maggie has spent her entire career in client services and has been a successful entrepreneur for over 15 years. Today, she works with service business and agency owners to build bs-free businesses that put trust first in everything they do.

A podcaster and writer, Maggie is a vocal advocate for humane business practices rooted in respect, empathy and trust. She’s the host of the BS-Free Service Business podcast, and the co-host of Duped: The Dark Side of Online Business.

I’m excited to have Maggie on the show because the more variety you have with your business model choices, the easier it is to create a business model that’s going to work for you!

Building a Flow State Business with Ruby Lee

Building a Flow State Business with Ruby Lee

If you’ve listened to the podcast for a while, you already know I’m a big believer in building a business that aligns with your natural strengths, talents and interests.

When you do what comes naturally to you, when you do what you enjoy and you price your offers well, the whole business experience is smoother. It doesn’t feel like hard work. You enjoy showing up and doing the things that move your business forward - and you have the freedom to ditch, delegate or automate the rest. Sales are easier. You don’t have to put in long hours. Sometimes you do because you get so into a project you can’t stop thinking about it, but that tends to balance out in the long run because you have the opportunity to build space into your schedule for times of rest, rejuvenation, and creativity.

You know that feeling when you’re working on something and it feels almost too easy? The time goes by like lightning, your fingers are flying over your keyboard, or you find yourself thinking “I can’t believe I’m getting paid to do this”? That’s what I consider working in flow and I LOVE it. I want that for all of us, and I’m drawn like a magnet to other people who work in flow.

That’s why I’m so excited to have today’s guest on the show!

Ruby Lee is all about helping entrepreneurs tap into the magic of flow in their businesses. She’s a certified High Flow Coach and people trust her for guidance because she’s documented every step of her business journey over the past 5 years. She’s the host of the Flow State Business podcast which has had close to half a million downloads, and she ties things like your energy into how you run your business. Ruby is so real and open and every time I get a peek behind the scenes of how she runs her business I am SO impressed!

I’ve worked with Ruby in a couple of courses now and have seen my monthly income jump by thousands as a result, without needing to add extra hours to my working week. Her coaching is perfect for me, quick and actionable and motivates me to actually DO things that make my business not only easier but more enjoyable - things flow very smoothly for me now and it’s Ruby I have to thank for that!

In Ruby’s experience, flow can transform lives. It's not just about making more money (which we’re totally ok with!); it's about loving what you do and finding the most expansive version of you.

Tune in as Ruby & I talk about how she came across the concept of flow, and it’s impact on her life, how she applies the flow state to building and running her business, and the magic she’s seen in her business and others since applying these principles!

How to have a life when you run a business by yourself

How to have a life when you run a business by yourself

Back in 2011 I left corporate and started my first business, Beautifully Organised. I wanted more control over my time, to run my own schedule and to work on my terms. I wanted to be home for my young children more instead of having to work long hours, evenings and weekends. I wanted my work to fit around my life, and over the past 13 years I’ve worked with a lot of small business owners who want that too.

Now for me, work life balance was a windy road.

Beautifully Organised started as an in person service, where I would go to other mums’ homes and physically help them organise it so that their day would flow more smoothly around their young families. Here’s how to set up your kitchen so making dinner at witching hour is easier, here’s how to set up your bathroom so it’s quick and easy to clean right after bath time, that kind of thing.

The ironic part was within just a couple of months, I was working just as long hours as I was before, I was away from my kids for the same amount of time, and I was responsible for everything - not just organising for my customers, but the marketing, sales, customer service… everything. I burnt out in a few months.

My corporate job was inflexible, but at least it was a regular pay check and I could turn off when I wasn’t at work.

If I wanted more balance, if I wanted to work in a way that aligned with my dream lifestyle rather than dictated what it would be like, I needed to be more strategic about how my business worked. So at that point, I decided to make some changes.

It took a lot of trial and error, but these days Beautifully Organised is an online business, and I make money sharing my organising tips via courses instead of personally going to people’s homes and organising them myself anymore. I have a very simple business model, and that’s actually what freed me up to start The Simpler Business podcast in the first place! I like to work a couple of hours a day, and I limit my private clients in this business to a handful so I’m not overworked anymore.

I also made a few other changes to my approach to running my business and thought I’d share them in case you find them helpful! Here’s what I do each year to run my 2 businesses and still have a life I love with plenty of down time.

Turning your life experience into a business that helps others with Serena Edwards

Turning your life experience into a business that helps others with Serena Edwards

If you love the idea of leaving corporate, leaving retail, leaving the 9 to 5 or what hour hours you’re working and you really want to start your own business and work for yourself but you don’t know what kind of business to start or what to focus on, then you are going to find this episode, really really inspiring and really really motivating.

A good friend of mine, one of my absolute favourite people in the world, Serena Edwards is on the show today!

She’s the founder of Elegantly Empowered, and her whole business is about inspiring women to leverage their strengths and use them to uplift themselves and others, no matter what they’ve been through.

I’m really excited to have her on the show because so many people talk to me about how they are thinking of starting a business because there’s a gap in the market, or because they think this thing will sell well. And yes there is logic in that in my experience working with 100s of predominantly female clients over the years, we tend to burn out when we’re not doing something we’re passionate about or something that that gives us purpose.

When we are doing something that lights us up, that we feel that we called to do, the landscape changes for us as business owners. The work is easier, sales flow better, and we connect with the right people at the right time, as long as we follow the very simple business rules of do what feels good and don’t give up.

I’m most inspired when I see people creating a business that helps other people, and I’m really interested in hearing about how they got started, and what inspired them to start their business.

Listen in as Serena and I discuss her business journey including how she helps people, how she turned her passion and purpose into a business, the biggest lesson she’s learnt so far, and what’s coming up for Elegantly Empowered in the next 12 months!

The Simple Way to Never Run Out of Clients

The Simple Way to Never Run Out of Clients

Keeping your client docket full is something most of us are nervous about when we’re first starting our business, whether we’re service providers, coaches or course creators.

When I speak with small business owners and entrepreneurs about working with clients, they’re typically focused on finding new ones, which I find very interesting, because retaining clients is actually much easier than attracting new ones. And when I ask why retention isn’t part of their regular strategy, the answer is usually something along the lines of “I don’t want to be too pushy or salesy, or seem to greedy, or make people feel like I only care about getting more money from them.”

If you’re currently working with clients and can see other ways you can help them and you don’t offer to do that, they’ll finish up with you and then a few weeks or months later realise they might need help with it, and then they might come back, or they might go with whoever else they’ve come across since then. And they’ll wonder why you didn’t pick up on it and offer to help them!

But if you have a simple way to offer a continued working relationship to your clients and you systemise it so you can make your offer in a friendly and confident way, the focus isn’t on whether you want more money or not, it’s on whether you care about their long term results.

So in case you need help with client retention, I’m sharing my favourite ways for course creators, service providers and coaches to keep working with their favourite clients without feeling pushy!

Break free from stressful launches and unsuccessful evergreen funnels with Nicki Krawczyk

Break free from stressful launches and unsuccessful evergreen funnels with Nicki Krawczyk

Live launches are intense and can put your business into feast or famine mode - big influxes of cash every few months with nothing in between.

Evergreen funnels have gained popularity in recent years because they allow you to bring in regular cash flow without the intensity of launches - in theory, it’s a set-and-forget job, you create your funnel, turn it on, and let it do the selling for you!

That promise of predictability and stability with your income is very appealing, but what happens when you put all of your efforts into creating your evergreen sales funnel and it doesn’t convert? What happens to the people on your email list who go through your funnel and don’t buy?

It seems we have pros and cons for both launches and evergreen, but did you know there’s another option you can consider?

My guest today teaches agencies, coaches and course creators how to automate their sales without the stress of live launching OR relying on evergreen strategies that might fall short of their goals.

As the visionary CEO and Founder of Nicki K Media, Nicki Krawczyk loves to challenge the conventional norms of live launching and traditional evergreen strategies. Her proven methodologies provide course creators with a predictable path to success, freeing them from the stress and limitations of outdated approaches.

Her Circuit Sales System has all of the excitement of live launching, but without the stress and risk. And it’s got all of the predictability of evergreen, but without the low conversions.

Listen in as Nicki and I chat about why a lot of evergreen funnels have low conversions, why live launching doesn’t work as well anymore, why Nicki’s Circuit System is perfect for coaches and course creators, and the results she’s seeing from her Circuit System members!

How to have a stress free and profitable December

How to have a stress free and profitable December

As the year wraps up, we tend to brace themselves for what we anticipate to be a slow December for entrepreneurs, coaches and service providers.

But December has so much potential for growth and profitability and can be one of the most lucrative times of the year if you approach it the right way.

December is unique. It's a time of increased consumer spending, emotional purchases, and a general air of generosity and goodwill. This creates a really fertile ground for businesses to offer special deals, holiday-themed services, and gift options. Understanding these market dynamics helps you tailor your offers to align with the expectations of the festive season.

And no, its not too late to add an extra offer or two to your business model this holiday season - try adding one of these easy to implement ideas to your business plan for December!

Using your data to make intuitive decisions for your business with Christine Tyler Pell

Using your data to make intuitive decisions for your business with Christine Tyler Pell

Two struggle points I see over and over again from business owners are decision making, and data.

  • Decision making for business owners brings up a lot of stuff - starting with the amount decisions we have to make every day. Big ones and little ones! Then there’s the emotional attachment we have to the decisions we make:
  • What if I go this way and something bad happens?
  • What if I make this decision and something doesn’t work out?
  • What if we freeze and don’t make a decision at all and then we miss out on something?

Data is the other area we tend to struggle with. If you’re not naturally a numbers person, you tend to stick your hand in the sand because when you don’t know your numbers, it feels scary to look at them! But what most business don’t realise is that data can actually free you up emotionally from the decisions you make in your business. It can take the pressure off! My guest today is going to walk us through how to use data to help you make intuitive decisions confidently!

Christine Tyler Pell founded COO, Inc after realising that the business owners in her life were very uncomfortable with math and data. Now she teaches creative consultants, coaches, and designers how to leverage data and their unique power to build the businesses of their dreams, easily easily delegating ALL the work that drains them while consistently delighting their clients. As a former accountant, it's a passion of Christine’s to help business owners LOOK at their numbers. A lot of her clients are actually afraid of them but it's all there to help you and she wants to make that a little easier!

Listen in as Christine and I chat about what type of data we should all be looking at, how intuition and data work together to make informed decisions, where most business owners are going wrong when it comes to their data, and what it looks like from a higher level!

Find and plug the money leaks in your business with Lauren Colson

Find and plug the money leaks in your business with Lauren Colson

There are a lot of areas when it comes to finances that us business owners often aren’t aware of. It’s not our area of expertise, so we don’t think about a lot of the financial information we need to run our businesses.

When was the last time you thought about how often you need to review your finances, or noticed the bottlenecks in your business that are slowing your growth?

Are you pricing products to ensure you’re making a profit?

Do you know if or when your cash is about to run out?

Are you clear on how much you need to set aside for taxes?

My guest this week is here to help business owners like us understand more about our finances, and show us the things we should be keeping our eyes on!

Lauren Colson is (in her words) a number geek with people skills!

As the owner of Colson Strategies, she runs a small but mighty team. Lauren finds passion in helping business owners make the best, most informed decisions through financial information. Lauren knows you're working hard to grow your business and as a financial expert, she doesn’t take that lightly. Lauren, along with her team, take the scary out of your finances so you can focus on what matters most.

Her job is to empower entrepreneurs with the tools they need to make the best decisions in their businesses. Lauren is more than a business owner - she is a mother of two, a coffee lover, and a book-reading, beach-loving, mindset enthusiast.

Listen in as Lauren and I chat about some of the money leaks small businesses have, the biggest mistakes business owners make when it comes to money, why it’s important to review your financials and know your numbers, and the benefits of working with a bookkeeper!

Avoiding the common HR landmines that trip up entrepreneurs with Vicky Brown

Avoiding the common HR landmines that trip up entrepreneurs with Vicky Brown

The goal as a business owner is for it to be a success, You want people to buy your products and book your services, to love the experience of working with you, to refer you to others, to have that cash flowing in and enjoy the limitless potential your business has!

It all sounds amazing and you’re on track to get there - but the challenge of being a successful business owner is that when your business grows, it starts to get too big for you to run it all by yourself

We start out wearing all the hats and doing all the things and we get really good at it because we’re passionate about our business and we want it to succeed. But when things go well, it means things get busy.

So we try to cram it all in and be as organised as possible but there are literally no more hours in the day, and we started our business for more freedom, not to be chained to our computer! The juggle is real and we start to miss a little thing here, a little thing there, we start to feel overworked and burnt out.

It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when those little misses start to add up, that’s when we realise it can make the difference between signing a high ticket client or losing one. It can affect our deliverability on our services and create a less than spectacular customer experience, leading to less repeat purchases and then things start to spiral.

Those little misses are a sign that it’s time to scale, systemise, and hire and delegate before it all gets to be too much for you. But as a sole trader, you have no idea how to do that. The idea of taking time out from your business to hire and train someone else feels like it’s adding more work to your plate, not freeing you up! Yes its important in the long run but you’ll just put it off until you have a bit more breathing room to do it… except that time is never going to come.

My guest today is more than familiar with these kinds of entrepreneurial worries and is here to walk us through a few points that make bringing in people to help you in your business a little less scary and a lot less complicated!

After two decades of leadership roles in the corporate world, founder of Idomeneo Enterprises Vicky Brown created the Leaders Journey Experience, an education program specifically designed to equip entrepreneurs and business professionals with the tools, guidance, and confidence to navigate the sometimes complex world of HR, in a less complex way.

With 20 years expertise in human resources management, strategy and transformation, Vicky’s HR leadership experience spans various industries, including technology, entertainment and advertising.

An accomplished coach and #1 best selling author of the book Sing With Your Opera Voice, My Journey From Solopreneur to Entrepreneur, Vicky has dedicated her career and business to providing HR expertise tempered with the day-to-day realities of running a business.

She is passionate about empowering entrepreneurs with practical HR expertise and business acumen to help them successfully establish and run their businesses.

Listen in as Vicky and I chat about the top HR issues entrepreneurs should be aware of, whether you should just have independent contractors instead of employees, and what you need to do to hire your first employee!

The 4 Basics of Client Attraction & How to Standout with Hailey Rowe

The 4 Basics of Client Attraction & How to Standout with Hailey Rowe

You started your business, you created your offers, you’re ready to change lives… now you just need paying clients!

If you’ve ever launched an offer to crickets, you’re not alone.

We start our own businesses because we’re passionate about what we do and we’re highly skilled at it - but we’re not always natural marketers. In fact, for a lot of us, we’re really uncomfortable doing it.

There can be quite an emotional attachment to the sales process, especially when you’re in your first 1-3 years of running your business.

It feels really personal to put yourself out there and talk about how great your offers are, and that’s before you even mention the price and ask for the sale!

And it takes a LOT of time away from the parts of your business you actually enjoy - but without paying clients, you don’t have a business, so you’ve got to do it, no matter how much you hate it.

The good news is, booking clients doesn’t actually have to be as hard as we’re making it.

Once you’ve got a process or system sorted, it cantata care of client attraction for you and give you a bit of a breather personally. Things are easier when you have a how to to follow!

And my guest today is going to walk you through the basics of client attraction so you can stand out and your ideal customers can find you and book you much more easily!

Hailey Rowe is a Marketing/Sales Coach & Linkedin Lead Generation Service Provider.

She helps service-based business owners (especially coaches) build out their client attraction process, get more time back, and boost sales without being held back by social media overwhelm.

She shares her F.A.S.T. framework, marketing, and business tips in her Health Coach Nation Podcast & in The Marketing Hub Facebook Group.

She’s been named as one of the Top 25 Coaches in Chicago & one of the Top 6 business podcasts for health coaches. Since 2010, Hailey has worked in the coaching industry & in business development/marketing for startups.

Hailey’s philosophy is you can have an amazing service and impact to make, but without a strong mindset, and sales and marketing plan, your business will remain a hobby.

Listen in as Hailey and I chat about why entrepreneurs, coaches and service providers struggle to get clients, her simple way to attract clients, and how can we stand out from our competitors when positioning ourselves and our offers to potential clients!

Your ego is your unconscious brain that is usually motivated by old past beliefs, mindsets and habits that you aren’t even aware you’re doing.

We live in a very reactive world—our egos are feeding on everything from social media rants to tabloids and news headlines, all designed to emotionally manipulate us for the benefit of the source.

But ego isn’t always a bad thing, in fact, it can be a real strength. It’s only when it’s left uncontrolled that it can unintentionally damage our relationships with loved ones in our personal life and with customers, colleagues and peers in our business and career.

The good news is, you can change the role your ego plays in your relationships and make small but significant changes that add up over time and allow you to show up for yourself, and those around you, in a far more productive manner.

Christie Garcia is a Leadership Coach, Speaker, Facilitator, Contributor to Forbes Coaches Council, and Founder of Mindful Choice Leadership Academy. She has 19 years of experience in sales, recruiting, and leadership development. For the last decade she has worked with current and upcoming leaders from fast growing organizations including Airbnb, Twitter, Movement For Life, Sunrun, and Oakley.

Christie builds programs that help individuals and teams maximize their impact through self-awareness, ownership, communication, alignment, and accountability.

One of Christie’s super-powers is helping her clients identify and manage their Ego in real time. Her clients build authentic confidence so they can communicate more effectively and maximize their impact within their professional teams and personal relationships. This is a modern approach that is designed to be simple. You just have to choose to be 1% better every day.

Listen in as Christie and I discuss what Egos are present in your business, identify the three Egos and learn how they sabotage your success, how the Ego unconsciously runs your conversations and relationships, procrastination, and other Ego tactics that keep you stuck in your business!

Scaling your coaching business with 5-hour work weeks with Lindsay Maloney

Scaling your coaching business with 5-hour work weeks with Lindsay Maloney

Whether you’re just starting or you’re a seasoned coach, I bet you already know that while having a calendar full of clients sounds pretty amazing, it can also get overwhelming.

Plus, back to back client calls isn’t the best to get to your next income goal and it certainly isn’t a way to scale your business!

If you’re coaching 40 hours a week, your income will hit a plateau. There are only so many coaching calls you can do in a week!

And when will you have time for admin, marketing, sales & retention?

When will you have time to enjoy your life?

My guest today knows exactly how a crammed full coaching calendar can impact your business and lifestyle.

Lindsay Maloney was triple-booked with coaching clients for over three years. And while she loved what she did, it felt like someone kidnapped her calendar and booked it completely full with one-hour sessions without asking for her permission!

Her calendar was full of client calls, group coaching calls, podcast interviews, you name it, and Lindsay really wanted more freedom.

No one wants to leave corporate to start their own business and then be chained to Zoom all day, we’d much prefer to choose a path towards a balanced and free coaching biz. But what does that really look like?

Would you like to see fewer calls on your calendar, AND more sales coming in without you having to “be there” for it?

You can get your time back and still bring in the same income (and a whole lot more) without having to go on calls all of the time, and Lindsay’s going to walk us through how to do it!

Listen in as Lindsay and I chat about the #1 thing to focus on when trying to reach 5 hour work week, time management hacks for more productivity, where to start with building out levels of offers & income, and how to build a sustainable & freedom-based coaching business that is not dependent on launching all the time!

Keeping things simple as a multi-passionate entrepreneur with Tara Reid

Keeping things simple as a multi-passionate entrepreneur with Tara Reid

If you’re a multi-passionate entrepreneur who struggles to keep things streamlined and simple because you feel called to do lots of different things, this episode is for you!

One of the toughest decisions I had to make when I started my first business was what to actually focus on, because there were a number of things I was interested in, good at, and could help people with.

Everyone says to niche down and target a very specific audience with a very specific offer so that when they find us they know straight away we can help them, and that is good advice if you’re great at just one thing - but what if you’re great at lots of things? What if we choose the wrong thing to focus on? What if we waste a year focusing in one area and then realise later that we want to help people in other ways, with other products and services?

Do we need multiple personalities online? Can we group everything together? How do we tap into our multi-passionate traits and use them to our benefit, without having to force ourselves into a box?

My guest today is the perfect person to talk to about this topic!

Tara Reid is a seasoned business and marketing strategist, renowned for her expertise in empowering entrepreneurs to build sustainable, evergreen marketing strategies.

With over 17 years of online entrepreneurship experience, Tara is a trusted guide for heart-centered, introverted and multi-passionate entrepreneurs seeking to achieve lasting success without compromising their authenticity.

Her passion for strategic thinking and personalized coaching drives transformative results, making a significant impact in the lives of her clients.

Listen in as Tara and I chat about the best ways that multi-passionate entrepreneurs can keep things simple without niching down, what happened when Tara tried niching in the past vs doing things differently now, how Tara plans her marketing when she has lots of offers, and what she’d change if she went back in time to when she first started her business!

But scaling your business can be both exciting and a little daunting...

You want your business to grow but you don’t want to overwork yourself and burn out! After all, one of the reasons you started your business was to have more freedom.

In a business owner’s eyes, more clients and customers feels like more responsibility, and if feels risky to expand - Can I handle the extra workload? Can I still deliver the same quality on a larger scale? Am I ready to hire or outsource? If so, how do I manage a team successfully?

Questions like these can have you wondering if you’re really ready to scale, but I promise you - you are. Concerns like these are all mindset based, and once you upgrade your mindset, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.

Here are some key mindset shifts that will allow you to scale your business without sacrificing your freedom!

---

Mentioned in this episode: I’m taking a small group of entrepreneurs who are passionate about their business and keen to scale without burnout through some practical ways to shift their mindset from small biz owner or service provider to CEO of a successful, sustainable business with unlimited potential for growth!

10x your sales by learning how to write better emails with Sena Wheeler

10x your sales by learning how to write better emails with Sena Wheeler

Can email marketing work for ANY type of business?

I’ve been running my online businesses for more than a decade now and the smartest step I took was to build an email list and write to it regularly.

Email marketing is where I make most of my sales for my online programs, digital products and VIP Days and it has been instrumental in creating a number of income streams that have continued to grow year after year.

Trends come and go, social media platforms change, but email always stays the same. You can connect directly with your customers in an easy, reliable and affordable way, and the better you become at writing your emails, the more sales you’ll make!

My guest today built her family business and started successfully selling in just a few months, and email is the number one way she makes sales and connects with her customers.

Sena Wheeler is part of a 3rd generation fishing family and the co-founder of Sena Sea, which brings wild Alaskan seafood direct to your door.

She was featured on Marie Forleo's blog for how she has 10x'd her sales by writing emails about fish. She's passionate about the power of connecting with your target audience through email communication.

She and her husband enjoy running the family business together, spending part of the year in Alaska and having the flexibility to enjoy watching her children participate in their school sports, and of course, eating and cooking fish!

I’m so excited to share Sena's story because over the years I’ve noticed people say things like, “email marketing only works for coaches”, “you can’t sell products as successfully via email as you can with a shop front” and Sena is an amazing example of how it really can work!

Listen in as Sena and I discuss how she started the business, how she initially marketed and sold her fish, the moment she realised the power of copywriting and email marketing to grow a business, and her recommendations for business owners who want to get better at copywriting!

Managing the accounts for your small business with Malisa Clarence

You know bookkeeping is important, but it's not easy, and getting a bookkeeper might feel like a big expense, especially in your first few years running your business.

So what do you do? Ask your accountant to sort it out for you (costing you a fortune), have a go yourself, make plenty of mistakes, spend time and money to fix it, or get your partner, family member or friend to help you out, even if you're not sure they are confident either?

The good news is, there’s a simple solution for you now!

Ask Hub has been created to help small business owners to save time by making the bookkeeping process as simple and pain-free as possible for those business owners looking after their own bookkeeping, and today we’re talking to founder Malisa Clarence about how you can use it to make managing your accounts easier as a business owner.

Listen in as Malisa and I talk about the common challenges business owners face when doing their own bookkeeping, the typical mistakes business owners make doing their own bookkeeping, who you can ask for help when you don't know the answer to your bookkeeping question, and how you can streamline your bookkeeping processes and save time!

Scaling to Multiple Seven Figures with a Low Ticket Offer with Mickie Kennedy

Scaling to Multiple Seven Figures with a Low Ticket Offer with Mickie Kennedy

In the world of online business, many entrepreneurs are constantly on the hunt for the perfect product or service to offer and high ticket offers seem to be the recommendation of many coaches.

These are high-priced products or services that typically require a significant investment from the customer (typically thousands) and this can create a significant income stream for the business owner, but while they can certainly be lucrative, they can also be trickier to sell.

The alternative option is a low ticket offer - a product or service priced at lower level, typically ranging from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars. These can be anything from digital products to coaching sessions or services.

It’s an easier “Yes” for your customer, but can it provide the same level of revenue as high ticket offers?

I’m excited to introduce my podcast guest Mickie Kennedy from eReleases and hear about his experience with low ticket offers, and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what he has to say!

A little background on Mickie, he founded eReleases 24 years ago to help small businesses, authors, and startups increase their visibility and credibility through affordable press release marketing.

Previously, he’d been working at a PR company when a small business owner called, saying to Mickie “We won an award and I want to send out one press release. I’ve called all the PR firms in the yellow pages and they all have a minimum starting price of $20,000! Can you help me?” Mickie saw an opportunity to help and eReleases was born, providing a press release service option that was much more affordable for small businesses.

Listen in as Mickie shares about the hardest part of growing his business, the tools he used to grow his business, whether he feels he is a good manager, and his recommendations for small companies that want to grow!

Intuitive writing with nature’s rhythms with Jacqueline Fisch

Intuitive writing with nature’s rhythms with Jacqueline Fisch

Do you have a story to tell or a message to share, but wish writing it was easier?

Do your words sound good in your head but then you have trouble getting them onto the page?

When you write do you feel like what you really want to come through, is kids of stuck, or doesn’t quite feel right?

Your words are an extension of your energy, and when done right, they connect with your readers, inspire them and motivate them to take action.

But when they’re not quite right and you can’t put your finger on why, that’s when your message can be diluted, isn’t as effective, or just feels like the wrong fit and this can really impact your business results because your messaging in both your content and your offer is what builds trust with your community and drives sign-ups and sales.

My guest today is going to show us how to write more intuitively so that your message feels right for you and connects with the people who are meant to be in your circle, and will love working with you.

Jacqueline Fisch is an author, copywriter, and intuitive writing coach. She’s the founder of The Intuitive Writing School, a space for creatives who have a writing project on their heart and business owners who want to sound authentic while they make an impact on the world.

Before launching her writing and coaching business, Jacq spent 13 years working in corporate communications and management consulting for clients, including Fortune 500 companies and the government. As a freelance copywriter, she’s helped hundreds of clients — tech startups, life and business coaches, creatives, and more to learn how to communicate more authentically and stand out in a busy online world.

Listen in as Jacq shares how business owners can get through writer's block, her advice on writing your website copy, writing with nature's rhythm, and her thoughts on using AI to create content!

It’s more likely you’re just trying to wing it, you don’t have a process to follow, and you’re making it more about you than about your potential client.

How to Know When You're Ready to Outsource Work with Eman Zabi

How to Know When You're Ready to Outsource Work with Eman Zabi

As a business owner, you know that running a successful business takes a lot of time, effort, and resources and if you’ve been listening to The Simpler Business Podcast for a while you’ll know I’m a big fan of finding ways to make running your business smoother and easier.

One option to streamline your business operations and free yourself up to focus on your zone of genius is to consider outsourcing the simple and repetitive tasks in your business. The tasks that don’t need your face, your voice or your personality in order to get done.

You can outsource general tasks to a contractor or virtual assistant, or you could work an expert in a particular area you’d like to outsource - there are lots of great options available.

But how do you know when it's the right time to outsource?

When I talk with my listeners about outsourcing, they tend to raise the same questions - what should I outsource, how do I know if I can afford it, who should I outsource too, and how can I manage it when it feels like it’s quicker and easier just to do it myself instead of training and checking the quality of someone else’s work?

But what will happen to you and your business if you don’t outsource? It’s impossible to be everywhere and do everything at once and trying to wear all the hats and do all the things forever will only lead to burnout and inconsistency.

Let's walk through the simpler side of outsourcing so it doesn’t have to feel like a huge undertaking and a tonne of extra work to set it up!

Founder of Scribesmith and Terrain Eman Zabi has worked with clients like Stanford University, Netflix, and MeetUp and now they specialises in launch and funnel strategy for online educators, helping them leverage their expertise to build scalable online businesses.

Eman’s experience as both a startup owner and marketer gives her a unique multidisciplinary approach to business development, marketing, and strategy, which allows her to see opportunities and threats that others might overlook!

Tune in as we talk about the signs you’ll start to spot when you're ready to outsource business tasks, what type of tasks can be outsourced in a service-based business, how to determine which tasks to delegate, how to measure the success and ROI of bringing on help, and how to maintain quality control and manage the performance of other freelancers.

This is the year you grow and scale your business.

This is the year you grow and scale your business.

If you’ve been trying to scale your business for the last couple of years and not you’re seeing much traction yet, it’s NOT a sign that it’s not meant for you.

It’s more likely you’ve been busy with the work you are already doing, reacting to things that pop up with the clients you’re already working with, juggling your business with your family life, your day job (or both!) and you’re struggling to find dedicated time for you to focus on growing and scaling your business. You feel like it’s an effort just to post consistently to socials or email your list once a week!

We’ve all been there.

It sucks to feel like you’re always working and working and working but staying at the same level without your business growing, especially when you see other people on socials celebrating things like big launch numbers.

But big results are possible for you too, and you don’t have to work harder or longer hours to achieve them.

In fact, if you take a little time to simplify your approach to running your business and focus on just a few small but really important factors, you can take your own quantum leap forward, collapse the timeline, and achieve your business goals without burning out in the process.

This is your year to scale your business and enjoy more income without working more hours.

Here’s how we’re going to do it!

Discovering exciting options outside of the traditional career path with Anna Schulman Brambilla

Discovering exciting options outside of the traditional career path with Anna Schulman Brambilla

Traditional jobs are looking less and less appealing every year.

So many people are working longer hours for less pay and non existent job security.

Companies are reducing their workforce by using artificial intelligence (AI) to automate processes and improve productivity, and if you’ve been finding yourself feeling less and less secure at your 9-5, retail or hospitality job, you are not alone.

It’s time to look at some new options and take control back over your career.

The good news is, there are so many options out there for you in terms of entrepreneurship! The bad news is that with so many options out there, it can be hard to figure out which one is right for you.

Should you try a product based business? A service business? Passive income and digital products, a brick and mortar place you build from scratch? A franchise?

How do you know which one will be the best fit without running the risk of wasting years of your time and effort and thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on your business venture?

You don’t have to figure it out all on your own. There are people out there who understand the uncertainty of what you’re going through and can help you navigate the pathway that best suits you based on your skills, interests, experience and goals, and my guest today is one of them!

Anna Schulman Brambilla has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Career Transition. She has

been a career coach, recruiter, outplacement consultant, and relocation expert.

Anna works hard to provide a safe, pressure-free environment for her clients to explore their income and lifestyle intentions, determine if franchising and entrepreneurship is a fit, and identify the best path to achieve their goals. She is a skilled listener, coach, and facilitator who is passionate about helping people recognise the strengths they might not see in themselves and explore alternatives they may never have considered.

Tune in as we talk about the changes we’ve seen in the workforce over the last few years, Battered Career Syndrome, what to do if you're looking for other options for your career but don’t have a lot of cash upfront to start your own business or are worried about taking a risk on a new venture, and how to go into business for yourself without feeling like you’re doing it all by yourself!

3 ways to free yourself up more in your business

How to make money with your Facebook group with Michelle Vroom

How to make money with your Facebook group with Michelle Vroom

How do you feel about creating a Facebook Group as part of your business?

I know I’ve tried it in the past and I love the idea of having a group, but I have to admit I kind of ghosted mine because I had too much trouble keeping up with it as well as all the other things I was doing on social media - my personal profiles, my business pages, all of the different platforms!

I had trouble finding a balance between sharing content that would help me connect with ideal clients, without giving too much away for free so that they’d still want to take that next step and work with me in my courses and coaching programs.

I’d like to try having a Facebook Group again but I want to do it strategically this time, so it’s not just another place where I talk about Simplifying Business but actually works as a strategic way to bring in clients and sell my courses and programs.

I have no idea how to do that and you might be in the same boat as me, so I’ve bought in an expert to teach us how to monetise a Facebook group and use it as an effective business tool instead of just adding another social media “to do” to our list!

Michelle Vroom is a business coach with more than 15 years of marketing & PR experience with nonprofits, agencies, and big corporations. Now she helps small business owners grow to 6-figures with more freedom and peace.

Michelle believes every entrepreneur should be able to get clients whenever they want. She understands the challenges of limited resources and time, and shares her proven methods for visibility and relationship building to get clients and grow your business.

Tune in as we talk about how hosting a Facebook will group can help you sign clients, how to attract the right people into your group, how to keep your group engaged, and how to build relationships with your group members without feeling salesy!
