With me today is Caleb Tan. He is a 2022 Teaching Merit Award winner and teaches Statistics 1; Business Analytics, Applied Modelling & Prediction; and Statistical Methods for Marketing Research at UOL. He has been teaching with SIM for 10 years this year. We are talking about the challenges in teaching quantitative subjects. 

Welcome back everyone to a new year, where we continue to share the experiences, thoughts and practices of our SIM Associate lecturers. This week I am joined by 2022 Teaching Excellence Award winner Mabel Tan. She teaches Marketing in UOL and has been with SIM for 3 years. To support her students through the challenging curriculum, she has implemented scaffolding and formative assessment in her teaching. 

For this episode I am joined by Goh Boon Yeow, 2022 Teaching Excellence Award winner and Lecturer for UB at SIM for almost 5 years. He shares how he applies boundary-crossing as an instructional tool to make his psychology courses more engaging and help students gain a deeper understanding as well as develop their critical thinking skills. 

Today I had the privilege of interviewing Professor. Belinda Tynan after her keynote speech at the SIMGE Education Conference 2022 “Pedagogical transformation in the age of digital learning”. In her keynote, Professor Tynan shared her insights on the challenges and opportunities for higher education teaching staff as we emerge from the global pandemic in her keynote speech “How Higher-Ed faculty can embrace digital transformation in their teaching role”. My conversation with her was of a more personal nature as she shared her beliefs and experiences in education.
