How To Have Difficult Conversations
Being scared to verbalize your wants and needs is a trauma response. There are many reasons we find having tough talks hard, and it ranges from our childhood experiences to the way we relate to the world around us. To many of us, it can seem easier to avoid an issue, rather than to address it.  Having delicate conversations can make us feel uncomfortable, or bring us back to points in our past we’d rather not address. Tough talks are no walk in the park, and they can leave us feeling anxious, stressed, and desperate for a way out. The problem is that these conversations are often the most important ones we can have.  We have to overcome these hesitations, however, and we can do that by building up an understanding of who we are and why it’s so hard for us to address certain things and people.

Living With Fear
According to Psychology Today, fear has the ability to alter our perception of reality in many different ways. There are two kinds of fear: one acute, life-saving direct fear, which heightens our awareness, and one slowly sneaking indirect fear, which lowers our awareness. The same basic emotion—fear—produces completely different results, depending on how it enters our reality and how we cope with it.  Join us for an important conversation about how we live with fear and how to let it go.

Cancel Culture
People should be shamed when they say or do something reprehensible. Social sanctions are an important mechanism for social change, and they should be used. Father - Child Dynamic
Depictions of dads in popular culture push the stereotype of fathers as incompetent, emotionally disconnected, “secondary” parents who are not nearly as important to their children as their mothers. As a result, Fathers are often pressured to take a backseat when it comes to being involved with raising their kids and can face ridicule for things like admitting that they help change diapers or expressing an interest in taking paternity leave. In reality, although a mother’s love is important and special, having an active father figure plays an equally important role in the healthy development of a child. Please join us for this important and timely conversation.

The interaction between mother and child is an important and dynamic process. Rather, it becomes ingrained as the result of learned experiences that begin during the first year of life and are repeated daily throughout one’s childhood and adolescence.  Please join us for Part 1 of this conversation.
