Chatting with Nat - Ina from the Band "KingQueen".

Chatting with Nat - Ina from the Band "KingQueen".

When lightning strikes and is effectively bottled, it creates a special kind of magic that can cause the world to take notice. For KingQueen, such is the story behind their protest anthem “Burn This Motha” - out December 9, 2022. The five-piece Los Angeles LGBTQIA+ pop rock group wrote the single together, going on to perform it to thousands of people at San Francisco Pride just days after the US Supreme Court took away the Constitutional Right to Abortion. KingQueen knew they had to record the track, placing it in the hands of producer Kevin McCombs (Papa Roach). Sabrina Petrini is the founding vocalist for the project, with members Adam Gimenez on guitar, Brandon Valerino on keytar, Jake Absher on drums, and Ella G. Burgos on bass. The name KingQueen came from performing alongside drag queens, and while they call each other “queens” the singer said she didn’t feel like a king or queen. One of the drag queens responded, “No, you’re a KingQueen,” and it stuck. “This song feels like an evolution for us,” singer Sabrina says. “It’s very simple, straightforward, raw and honest. No holding back. We love what we do and we genuinely care about people and our community. KingQueen is all about identity and finding a place you can call home. We aren’t a political band but we’re also not going to stay quiet when human rights are being taken away! This is about equal rights, trans rights, and being pro-choice.” When award-winning filmmaker K. Rocco Shields (Love is All You Need?) came on board as a director and producer with her production company Genius Produced, KingQueen knew they really had tapped into something special.

Chatting with Nat -Singer-Songwriter Emily Jean of the Collective "The Uneasy"

Chatting with Nat -Singer-Songwriter Emily Jean of the Collective "The Uneasy"

The Uneasy is a collective of like and unlike minded artists creating emotionally charged music that explore some of the darkest experiences of the human condition. Lost, alone, and hopeless, Emily Jean fell into a deep depression that led to a heroin overdose when she was 27. Luckily, she was revived thanks to a heavy
dose of Narcan, but she temporarily lost her hearing. “Not being able to hear was exceptionally more frightening than death for me,” she recalls. “The thought of never being able to hear a song again, let alone play or write one was enough for me to make a change.” This was not the first time she had overdosed, but it would be the last. After she regained her hearing and reflected on the harrowing experience, Emily put all her
time and energy into writing an album about addiction while on the road to herrecovery. “I wanted to say all the words that I wish I had heard as I was going through some of my darkest times.” As the brain, heart, and soul child of singer, songwriter Emily Jean, The Uneasy explores some of the most difficult and uncomfortable themes that deal with the complexities of the human condition. “As our name suggests, we want to address what some may see as uncomfortable, or even painful, because the more transparent we are about our struggles the more connected we become through them.” ‘Slave’ is about the moment of realization,
an awakening of sorts. It is the exact moment you come to terms with the fact that if you don’t change your life dramatically very soon you WILL die. Emily Jean started writing music at age 10, teaching herself how to play drums, guitar, and. piano. Not classically trained, she learned how to play by ear and how to structure songs by listening to and studying her favorite songwriters.

Chatting with Nat - Singer-Songwriter & Producer Skyler Day

Skyler Day is a singer, songwriter and producer with a knack for crafting songs that have the ability to warm your heart and break it at the same time. The LA-based artist recently won second place in the International Songwriting Competition for “The Best Worst Thing”, the closing track on her EP “Songs from the Greenhouse”, which was written, recorded, and produced by Day from a tiny shed-turned-studio in her backyard. Praised by American Songwriter for her “enchanting rasp” and “candid lyricism”, the EP further bolsters Day’s reputation for being a raw and honest storyteller. Hollywood Life raves “Songs from the Greenhouse delivers five tracks of Skyler’s signature striking songwriting. Case in point: the lead single, “The Best Worst Thing,” whose opening lines (“I hate that you’ve seen me naked / I hate all those smiles I was faking”) are an explosion of emotion, one that carries throughout the entire EP.”
Day has captured the attention of fans across the globe, including GRAMMY-winning artist Kacey Musgraves, who handpicked her for a mentorship that focuses on putting more women on stage at major music festivals, including ACL Festival, where Day had her festival debut in 2021. On top of that, the Georgia-native has also sold out venues like the Troubadour and Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.
In addition to her music career, Day is a well-established actress recurring on shows such as NBC’s Parenthood, Law & Order: SVU, the hit series Pretty Little Liars, and FOX’s The Resident.

Chatting with Nat - Singer-Songwriter Sasha Prendes

Chatting with Nat - Singer-Songwriter Sasha Prendes

When dating a songwriter, one must expect to be written about- good or bad ;) "Every song is written about someone and for someone. It's the one place I can say the things I was never able to say in person," says Sasha.

Sasha Prendes is a rising songstress whose storytelling + cinematic pop rock moody R&B is coming in hot! She emerged in 2019 and has been gaining attention with her new release "UNDERSTANDABLY” + “Stay (angry)” featuring the talented producers James Oliver III, Hanan Rubinstein, Chrona.

Sasha was born in New Jersey and was raised by her Cuban parents in the great state of Kansas! Raised on disney sing-a-longs, classic salsa, pop, rock, R&B, and even country, Sasha's parents exposed her to all types of music. They realized very quickly Sasha's ability to sing but no one knew of her songwriting skills until later in life. Sasha's influences include Taylor Swift, evanescence, Sara Bareilles, Adele, Eli Sostre and others. By listening to other artists be so open and vulnerable about their experiences, Sasha felt compelled to tell her stories. She writes of unrequited love in "Sail Away", rock bottom in “Losing My Mind”, friends with benefits in "Yellow Sweater", don’t care anymore attitude in “UNDERSTANDABLY", falling in love with "Brooklyn", just to name a few... she always gets the last word.
