Episode 8: A phone call with @malgamves
This is THE LAST EPISODE in the series. I'm back in SA and so ends my holiday. I'm prepping to head to an AI exam at the moment of publishing. I got to talk to Daniel Photo aka malgamves last night about school, exam stress, his Twitter handle and a whole bunch of other interesting revelations before we got interrupted by load shedding. Make sure to check out DevCon_ZM: Zambia's annual developer conference which Daniel will be helping to organize.
Things mentioned in this podcast:
Episode 7: A New Year with CodeCast ZM! Also community management is hard
Welcome to a very special episode where I kick off the year with CodeCast ZM hosts, Mukuma and Elias! These gentlemen have had a lot of experience with community organizing for tech events in Zambia. After some catching up we talked a bit about the highs and lows of community organizing in Zambia, what we've learned, and any tips we would give to people starting out communities in Zambia.
Things mentioned in this podcast:
DevC Lusaka (Developers Circles Lusaka)
Episode 6: In which I ramble about the end of the decade and ask for voice messages
For some reason, I am struggling to review the decade. It wasn't that great when I look at it. I'm grateful for a lot of things but the big picture of my life in the 2010s doesn't make me so happy.
Send me a voice note and tell me your thoughts about the 2010s.
Episode 5: Unboxing Day - 20 things from 2019
Happy Holidays and welcome back! Today I decided to do an unboxing of unboxings?.. to celebrate the day after the day after Christmas? Anyway it feels like the right time to do this but I talked about 20 things I unboxed in 2019. By unboxing I mean 20 new things from 2019 that I did or that happened to me.
List of things:
1. Learning how to ride a bike
named CHARIOTTSU PAPURU (Purple Chariot). Yeah we started this with a JoJo reference
Thank you Bill
2. Dungeons and Dragons
3. Fiverr
4. A whole year of therapy sessions
University student counselling
5. PERMAH
It may or may not work for people but I personally did get something out of looking at my overall wellbeing through these aspects.
6. Sometimes you actually do need to STFU
Animal chart thing with shark, owl, turtle, teddy and fox
Context matters in this of course. This only works for balanced relationships or relationships you actually want/need to preserve imo. And if you need to save your interests then the shark is appropriate. But it's okay to be a turtle sometimes to just let little conflicts blow over.
7. Running my own Table Top RPG
Harry Potter and the TableTop RPG
8. Cosplay
I'll probably tweet the pics
9. I'm a plant mum now
...with a single Bonsai Ginseng Ficus named Olga
10. Having a public non game jam game
Mediations started by Rami Ismail
December 14th Meditation by Sithe Ncube
11. Launching my new initiative Prosearium.net
12. Completing an online course
ALC 4.0 in partnership with Google and Pluralsight
13. Pokemon Shuffle
14. A stable hair routine
15. TASER!
16. Crahp tahps
17. Board game hangouts
18. Painting Gouache
19. Age of Mythology - The Board Game
Age of Mythology Video Game Wikipedia
Age of Mythology the Board Game
20. Podcasting!
Episode 4: Two different generations of Bongohive interns
Another interesting conversation at Bongohive! I can't help it. There are lots of interesting people in that space. This time get to know 19 year-old programmer and poet, Mapalo Chibwe. Learn what makes her tick, her hobbies, and her plans for world domination.
Episode 3: A casual lunchtime conversation with Simunza Muyangana
With the industrial break upon us, enjoy a casual conversation I had with Simunza Muyangana, Director of Entrepreneurship at Bongohive. In this long chat, we talk about the past, present, and future of the space, get some entrepreneurship wisdom, and talk about everything from Age of Empires to our first impressions of each other in 2013.
Things mentioned in this podcast:
Episode 2: What we learned from the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa program
In this episode, I spent some time at Bongohive and had a chance to talk to two fellow Obama Foundation Leaders: Regina Mtonga from the 2018 cohort, and Likumbi Kapihya from the 2019 cohort. We got into what we learned and how we're doing with our 12-month project action plans.
Things mentioned in the podcast:
Episode 1: Sithe tries to plan her December holiday
After getting 27 minutes of raw, well-timed recording magically deleted, I was pretty frustrated but still ended up recording an episode at 1AM because we already committed to this dang it! In this episode, I talk about the top 5 things I'm looking forward to while I'm back in Lusaka for a break.
Things mentioned:
*I don't use these as much as the generic weekly planner I actually use but I can't find where I got that from online. Scattered Squirrel has a lot of helpful stuff though!
Surprise! It's a podcast trailer!
Well! I was signing up for Anchor because I wanted to do a limited series podcast over the December holiday where I try to find my voice and get comfortable with being recorded. Got two things off the list: Tested the mic and made a podcast trailer all in one go. Stay tuned for some bi-weekly stuff if you want to hear more of me.
Episodes uploaded every Thursday and Monday night for the next month or so. I made that up just now. Now we have a schedule too!
