Psalm 6 How Long O Lord?
Songs For Saints: Weekly Psalm Devotions
When things don’t go the way we’d like them to, and they drag on too long, we can often wonder, “How long will this last?”
Prayer gives us an opportunity to ask this very question to God too. The psalm encourages us to trust God’s love and faithfulness rather than our righteousness, or our cleverness to resolve our difficulty. But know, as you pray your prayer of distress, that God hears, knows and is available to you – even in the difficult times.
Psalms express every experience of life, every emotion and situation human beings can face They point us to the God who made us and loves us. And give glimpses of Jesus and the hope and life he offers us.
Blessings, Philip
Psalm 5 Surrounded with Favour
King David, our psalmist, is weeping before God. Yet his great discovery is that as a lover of God he is welcomed into God’s very real presence. And so he knows that he can look to God to lead him through the hard, difficult path that he is walking. In fact he can enjoy the house of God, the family place for all God’s children. The place of God’s favour!
Songs For Saints: Weekly Psalm Devotions
Psalms express every experience of life, every emotion and situation human beings can face They point us to the God who made us and loves us.
And give glimpses of Jesus and the hope and life he offers us.

Psalm 4 Conversation with God
Does prayer always feel like a conversation with God? Or, when things are difficult, do we feel God hasn't got anything to say to us?
God wants us to be honest and real with Him. Sometimes he responds with a challenge about the quality of our lives rather than addressing "our" issues! God can ask awkward questions.
Yet the psalmist realises that the key to a conversation with God is recognising his presence with us, not just getting our answers.

Future - One Big Story Episode 7
The Future!
What a mystery, but what a hope for those of us who know and love Jesus.
This episode will encourage you to keep looking forward in faith and living now in that same faith. The faith that God knows who you are and what He has for you today and tomorrow, until Jesus returns. And his return is the great hope that the One Big Story of God, through His Book the Bible, is to take people from creation to re-creation.
Are you part of that hope and that journey?
Enjoy this final episode of One Big Story.
Bless you, Philip

Family - One Big Story Episode 6
Family: it can mean so many different things to different people. It can be a great experience or a horror story; a story of nurture, encouragement and security or of neglect, rejection and abuse -and all stages in between. Of course in the Bible we see similar family experiences to these played out in the lives of some of the characters.
But the purpose of this episode is to show how family is God’s idea. He set out to build a family where He would be the perfect Father to all his children. And the life and ministry of Jesus was designed to show how we could enter that family and discover this Father.
I hope this encourages and helps you.
Blessings, Philip
Forgiveness - One Big Story Episode 5
The Bible story is full of forgiveness - from beginning to end!
In this episode I unpack not just our need for forgiveness, but what an amazing gift from God it is. In fact it is the opening of the door of God’s favour for us. God is forgiving, it’s part of his nature because he knew we would need it.
Forgiveness means we can begin to live a new quality of life - the eternal kind of life - here and now, and forever.
Blessings, Philip
FAVOUR - One Big Story Episode 4
One of the major themes of the One Big Story of God’s interactions with humanity is His desire to show us favour, grace and mercy.
Despite the tendency of people to ignore God, rebel against Him and consistently to turn away from Him, He shows us His love.
God’s Favour is the theme in this episode. Soak yourself in the goodness of God and be transformed!
Blessings, Philip
People - One Big Story Episode 3
“One Big Story” is the story of God, and the story of His Book - Bible. But it's other stories too. This series unpacks the great overarching themes of this story.
Episode 3 looks at our second Theme: People of the Bible. There are in the order of 3000 people mentioned in the Bible, some are just a name mentioned once, others are significant "big" characters
In this episode we focus on a few "big names" and a few less well-known characters; looking at how God related with them and dealt in and through their lives to fulfil His great purposes. Whether we are big names or little ones is not the issue. What counts is hearing God's voice and knowing His Call so He can fulfil His purpose in your life too.
I hope this episode encourages and helps you.
Blessings, Philip
God- One Big Story Episode 2 (Audio only)
Episode Two looks at how God permeates the whole of His Book
If we consider God to be the author of the Bible and also its key character, it sounds like it's the autobiography of God. But of course it is far more than that as we shall see - it’s a great resource for our lives too.
In this episode we see how God interacts with so many people, who He is and how He deals with people, and how, in Jesus, He makes Himself known to people in a whole new, life-changing way!
Blessings, Philip

Bookends - One Big Story Episode 1
Bookends starts the One Big Story journey.
From the Bible books of Genesis to Revelation we trace six key themes that are uncovered throughout God's Book. God creates people for relationship; he loads them with His favour and then forgives when they fail and fall short. He draws them into families, then a nation and finally a Kingdom through His Son Jesus. Then he offers them a future beyond their wildest dreams; a future filled with His presence and love.
