Jazlin Coley-Smith (JO ’19) in Public Relations is the director of Equity and Inclusion at Drake University. Award-winning screenwriter, John August, sits down with the SJMC Podcast to talk about his time at Drake, what's changed, and what it's like to make movies. 

Join us this week as we talk to Rachel James, the editor-in-chief of the Times-Delphic, and Adam Heater, the president of Drake Broadcasting System, both current students in the SJMC. We ask questions like "Is there a feud between the TD and DBS?", "Is there a future for Drake's SJMC students?", and "Are the dorm showers as gross as you think?". The answers may surprise you. 

Chris and Taylor talk to Eduardo Zamarripa, a News Internet major who graduated in 2012. Eduardo began his career by putting together a weekly newscast and recording Oskalooska City government meetings. He has since worked his way up through Musco Lighting into his current position in soccer marketing development. Listen as Eduardo calms Taylor's fears about Capstone, gives advice about how to not be "That Guy", and introduces us to a major company no one has heard of.

Allison Vancura joins Chris Snider and Taylor Vos to talk about her career working with the Meredith Corporation. Having graduated from the SMJC in 2011 with degrees in Magazine Journalism and Graphic Design, Allison has worked at Meredith for 9 years in multiple roles. Listen as she talks about some of her favorite projects, relives her Personal Experience Essay, and gives advice to those interested in a magazine career. 

Dean of the SJMC, Kathleen Richardson, shares some of the many upcoming events for the 2019-2020 school, including details of the Centennial Celebration (just remember Meredith Hall Pub Crawl). Plus KR tells one her favorite stories of working on the Times-Delphic that includes the old tradition of streaking down Forest Ave.
