SK=E Curated Card Playlists

We are back with our biggest Topps release yet pairing two Minnesota icons together like never before… this is the card everyone has been waiting for! In 1984, Kirby Puckett made his MLB debut, and Prince’s “Purple Rain” debuted and took the world by storm.

Artist Note From Skee:

Growing up in Minnesota, I fell in love with sports after watching Kirby’s heroics in the ’91 World Series. As a DJ, the greatest experience of my career was when Prince invited me on tour with him and asked me to write a book on him and my experiences. I have never seen a more exciting sporting event than the ’91 World Series with Kirby and I have never been around a more talented musician than Prince. While each passed away far too soon, their impact on not just myself, but the entire world will last forever.

To be able to pair these two icons from my hometown together is a dream come true, and was the first card I envisioned when I signed on for Project 70. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do

Released the same day Derek Jeter was inducted into the MLB Hall Of Fame after his illustrious career with the New York Yankees, Wu-Tang: An American Saga (Season 2) released- and here SK=E x Topps combine both worlds for this New York / Shaolin mash up. Also featuring Dave East who stars as Method Man in the series, this playlist highlights some of the best Wu-Tang Clan music put out.

With the Midsummer Classic here, DJ Skee & Topps have collaborated for a special edition ASG card featuring the starting shortstops: Fernando Tatis Jr. & Xander Bogaerts. For this years Award Tour, this card features a Tribe of All-Star Marauders in the background, inspired by one of the most iconic albums ever: A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders. This curated music show/playlist breaks down the music inspiration and design process behind this special edition card.

Shohei Ohtani has taken over baseball as the best true two-way player since Babe Ruth - and performing arguably better at both this season! This card is inspired by the manga Jujutsu Kaisen that has taken over the world (#1 anime of 2021), which coincidentally features a character with two personalities inside of his body. Shohei Ohtani uses the outro theme song from Jujutsu Kaisen as his walk-up song, and it is has become his favorite show- making this pairing perfect for the Japanese born superstar!

YHLQMDLG / Burning The Rules: DJ Skee pairs arguably the face of MLB today, Fernando Taits Jr., with his favorite musician who also arguably is the biggest artist in the world today, Bad Bunny. This Bad Bunny inspired card not only pairs 2020's most streamed album YHLQMDLG with the Face of MLB The Show 21 Cover Star Fernando Tatis Jr., but ties in the video game theme with a special collaboration and promotion from XBOX.
