Welcome to Season 3: On Bravery
Early this year I had an experience where someone called me brave. No joke, I didn't know why they said that about me. At the same time, I was reading reflection after reflection from my students where they wished they had more bravery. I believe things happen for a reason, so I went with it and dedicated this entire season to uncovering as much as I could about bravery.
3.1: Different Kinds Of Bravery with Dr. Jeremy Van Tress
Where does bravery come from? How do we grow it? How do we call on it when we need it? This episode explores perhaps both familiar and unfamiliar questions when it comes to being brave. Join the conversation with Dr. Jeremy Van Tress, Founder and President of Smile Inside, as he shares his story of navigating early childhood trauma, military service as an Army Ranger, and now as he battles ALS. Jeremy's not trying to be a superstar, he just wants what's best for those around him. What Jeremy teaches us here, is that in anything we face, "the person is the product", and that being brave is an every day choice.
