Bounce Back Culture, Body Image and Parenthood

Bounce Back Culture, Body Image and Parenthood

Thanks for listening today! This is something that is very near and dear to my heart as I have struggled with body image issues for as long as I can remember. Here were the things that we mentioned that can ben helpful:

Reframe our expectations

Purchase new clothes that fit your body right now

Practice mindfulness based exercises like gratitude practices, journaling, breathwork, yoga, meditation

Being more present with your baby and children

Talking to a therapist or counselor

Unfollow those on social media that make you feel bad about yourself

Letters of gratitude for your body

Seek help from another professional who is knowledgeable in pregnancy and postpartum, personal trainers, nutrition coaches, health coaches.

I wanted to do a quick episode on nutrition in the fourth trimester. I cover nutrients to focus on, thinking about the 3 R's, replenish, recovery and repair, nutrients to focus on are bone broth, high quality fats, stinging nettle tea, hydration, soups and warm foods, making sure you are consuming enough calories. Also, remember that postpartum healing is not linear and embracing the change that motherhood creates in you. Sending you all love! Remember that sex after baby is different for everyone and the 6 week "mark" for returning to normal activities after having a baby doesn't necessitate you going right back to having sex if you aren't ready. In this episode we talk about a lot of different things that can come up for people in the postpartum period around sex, intimacy, body image, mindset, and more. We hope this helps to make the conversation around this topic a little less taboo and one that you can seek out help if you feel you need or want it. We are always her to support you and are always willing to get you information or resources if you need. Don't hesitate to reach out at talkbirthypodcast@gmail.com.
