Mohit Tripathi, born on April 18, 1978, in R.K. Puram, New Delhi, is renowned for his significant contributions to Indian contemporary theater. Not only is he an actor, but he also excels as a director and writer. Additionally, he is a theater trainer, fondly admired and deeply respected by his students.
After being thoroughly impressed by his play "Main Bhi Bachchan," I felt a strong desire to meet him and his team at the Renaissance Theatre to gain a deeper understanding of his work and approach.

A Mauritian artist of Indian origin Akshay Seebaluck shares his recent visit to Afghanistan.
Read here Before embarking on his journey to Afghanistan, Akshay Seebaluck, an artist of Mauritian and Indian descent, had dedicated years to refining his painting skills in Khairagarh. His artistic pursuits led him to various European countries, including a year-long sojourn in Spain, and later, enrollment as a student in an art institute in Germany. Prior to his visit, Akshay held preconceived notions about Afghanistan, harboring skepticism about the potential reception from locals. His perception was colored by an image of a country where artists, particularly those depicting figures, were scorned, and a notable level of xenophobia prevailed. However, his month-long exploration turned out to be both exhilarating and transformative, challenging and reshaping the young artist's perspectives.

एक बोसा ले लो
तुम मुझसे मिलना चाहते हो न
तो आओ, मिलो मुझसे और एक बोसा ले लो
मिलो उस क़स्बाई गंदगी और ख़ुशबू से
जिसने मिलकर मुझे जवान किया
जिसने खेतों से कटते प्लॉट देखे
मुहल्ले के उसे पुराने जर्जर मकान से मिलो
जिसका सबसे पुराना व्यक्ति पिछले दिनों मर गया
घर के पिछवाड़े होते थे मासिक धर्म के कपड़ों के घूरे
उनके बीच जगह ढूँढ़ कर शौच करतीं उन औरतों से मिलो
जिनके पिता या पति उम्र भर शराबी रहे या बेरोज़गार
सँकरी गलियों में टँगे छज्जों पर
शाम होते ही लटकने लगती थीं घूँघट वाली बहुएँ
छोटी-छोटी बातों पर करती थीं खिलकौरियाँ
और कभी बात करते-करते रो उठतीं
मैं चाहती हूँ तुम उन बहुओं से मिलो
अभी भी उनकी आँखों के गड्ढों में नमकीन पानी भरा है
तीन-छह-दस तोले सोने में लदीं
मेहँदी और महावर से सजीं बीस-बाईस साल की लड़कियाँ
ससुराल से लौटकर आईं तो पचास की हो गईं
उन पचास साल की बूढ़ी लड़कियों से मिलो
कभी-कभार राखी और शादी-ब्याह के मौक़ों पर आती हैं बस
और आते ही बता देती हैं जाने की तारीख़
सीलन भरे कमरे में रात भर तड़पती थीं कुछ जवान छातियाँ
जो सुबह होते-होते सूख जातीं

दो रात और तीन दिन का सफ़र तय करके
छुट्टी पर अपने घर जा रहा है रामसिंह
रामसिंह अपना वार्निश की महक मारता ट्रंक खोलो
अपनी गन्दी जर्सी उतार कर कलफ़दार वर्दी पहन लो
रम की बोतलों को हिफ़ाज़त से रख लो रामसिंह, वक़्त ख़राब है ;
खुश होओ, तनो, बस, घर में बैठो, घर चलो ।
तुम्हारी याददाश्त बढ़िया है रामसिंह
पहाड़ होते थे अच्छे मौक़े के मुताबिक
कत्थई-सफ़ेद-हरे में बदले हुए
पानी की तरह साफ़
ख़ुशी होती थी
तुम कनटोप पहन कर चाय पीते थे पीतल के चमकदार गिलास में
घड़े में, गड़ी हई दौलत की तरह रक्खा गुड़ होता था
हवा में मशक्कत करते चीड़ के पेड़ पसीजते थे फ़ौजियों की तरह
नींद में सुबकते घरों पर गिरा करती थी चट्टानें
तुम्हारा बाप
मरा करता था लाम पर अँगरेज़ बहादुर की ख़िदमत करता
माँ सारी रात रात रोती घूमती थी
भोर में जाती चार मील पानी भरने
घरों के भीतर तक घुस आया करता था बाघ
भूत होते थे
सीले हुए कमरों में
बिल्ली की तरह कलपती हई माँ होती थी, बिल्ली की तरह
पिता लाम पर कटा करते थे
ख़िदमत करते चीड़ के पेड़ पसीजते थे सिपाहियों की तरह ;
सड़क होती थी अपरिचित जगहों के कौतुक तुम तक लाती हई
मोटर में बैठ कर घर से भागा करते थे रामसिंह
बीहड़ प्रदेश की तरफ़ ।
तुम किसकी चौकसी करते हो रामसिंह ?
तुम बन्दूक के घोड़े पर रखी किसकी उँगली हो ?
किसका उठा हुआ हाथ ?
किसके हाथों में पहना हुआ काले चमड़े का नफ़ीस दस्ताना ?
ज़िन्दा चीज़ में उतरती हुई किसके चाकू की धार ?
कौन हैं वे, कौन
जो हर समय आदमी का एक नया इलाज ढूँढते रहते हैं ?
जो रोज़ रक्तपात करते हैं और मृतकों के लिए शोकगीत गाते हैं
जो कपड़ों से प्यार करते हैं और आदमी से डरते हैं
वो माहिर लोग हैं रामसिंह
वे हत्या को भी कला में बदल देते हैं ।
पहले वे तुम्हें कायदे से बन्दूक पकड़ना सिखाते हैं
फिर एक पुतले के सामने खड़ा करते हैं
यह पुतला है रामसिंह, बदमाश पुतला
इसे गोली मार दो, इसे संगीन भोंक दो
उसके बाद वे तुम्हें आदमी के सामने खड़ा करते हैं
ये पुतले हैं रामसिंह बदमाश पुतले
इन्हें गोली मार दो, इन्हें संगीन भोंक दो, इन्हें... इन्हें... इन्हें...
वे तुम पर खुश होते हैं -- तुम्हें बख़्शीश देते हैं
तुम्हारे सीने पर कपड़े के रंगीन फूल बाँधते हैं
तुम्हें तीन जोड़ा वर्दी, चमकदार जूते
और उन्हें चमकाने की पॉलिश देते हैं
खेलने के लिए बन्दूक और नंगीं तस्वीरें
खाने के लिए भरपेट खाना, सस्ती शराब
वे तुम्हें गौरव देते हैं और इसके बदले
तुमसे तुम्हारे निर्दोष हाथ और घास काटती हई
लडकियों से बचपन में सीखे गए गीत ले लेते हैं
सचमुच वे बहुत माहिर हैं रामसिंह
और तुम्हारी याददाश्त वाकई बहुत बढ़िया है |

‘कोई सा दिन’
एक पूरा दिन
तुम्हारे साथ ख़र्च करना चाहता हूँ
वह कौन-सा महीना होगा
कौन-सा दिन!
क्या धूप बहुत तेज़ होगी उस रोज़
या बादल काले हो रहे होंगे
बारिश का संकेत देते हुए
क्या हवा अपनी पूरी ठंडक के साथ
तुम्हारे कमरे में फैली होगी
बेतरतीब काग़ज़ों और किताबों के बीच
क्या तुम्हारा कमरा वैसा ही है
जैसा पंद्रह साल पहले था?
तुम्हारी आदतें कितनी बदली हैं
तुमने ठीक से रसोई बनाना सीख लिया है
कपड़े अब भी तह करके क़रीने से रखती हो वार्डरोब में
किराए का मेरा वह कमरा और गुलमोहर
क्या अब भी दिखते हैं तुम्हारी छत से
और हाँ, क्या भाई आज भी सुनता है
वैसे ही डूबकर पंडित रविशंकर को
माँ के घुटने का दर्द कैसा है
तुम्हारे पिता अब कैसे दिखते हैं
क्या धूप अब भी आती है तुम्हारे बिस्तर पर

बंदर मनुष्य से

जिसमें दर्ज़ हैं तारीख़ें
और कुछ ब्यौरे
जैसे अपराह्न पूर्वाह्न आदि
उन्होंने हर काम मुझसे पहले किया है
मैंने बहुत बाद में दिखाया है घटियापन
बाद में की है मूर्खताएँ
बहुत बाद में बोला है झूठ
हथियार डाले हैं बहुत बाद में मैंने
वे पृथ्वी पर आएँ हैं मुझसे पहले
और जाएँगे भी शायद
जब झर जाते हैं पुराने पत्ते
तब कहीं निकलती हैं कोंपलें
जो और सुंदर बनाती हैं दृश्य

फंसी हुई लड़कियां
.
उसके गाँव-जवार
और मुहल्ले का
आसाध्य और बहुछूत शब्द था ये !
कुछ लड़कियों के तथाकथित प्रेमियों ने
अपने जैसे धूर्त दोस्तों में बैठकर
बेहयाई से प्रेयसी का नाम लेते हुए कहा —
मुझसे फँसी हुई हैं ।
उसे नफ़रत थी इस शब्द से
उसने जहाँ भी सुना कि वो लड़की
किसी से फँसी हुई है
उस लड़की के लिए घृणा से उसका मन भर गया
फँसी हुई लड़कियों को देखकर लगा
कि कोई गलीज़ चीज़ देख ली
फिर एक दिन उसे अप्रत्याशित प्रेम हुआ
अब उसके सर्वांग से फूटती थी एक आदिम महक
और आँखें अड़हुल के फूलों की तरह दहकने लगीं
प्रेयस ने उसे बताया —
प्रेम आत्मा का पवित्रतम रूप है
उसने प्रेयसी को
प्रार्थना की सुरीली धुन कहा
वो मगन रही कि वो प्रेयसी है
उसे गर्व हुआ कि वो फँसी हुई लड़की नहीं है
और उसने उन फँसी हुई लड़कियों से और घृणा की
फिर एकदिन उसने सुना,
कोई कह रहा था
उसके प्रेमी का नाम लेकर
कि वो तो फलाँ व्यक्ति से फँसी हुई है
अचानक खुद के लिए ये शब्द सुनकर
घिन, अपमान, दुख और क्रोध जैसी
कितनी सम्वेदनाओं से काँप गयी वो
लगा कि क़स्बे के सबसे गन्दे नाले में ग़लती से आ गिरी
फिर थोड़ी देर सोचकर उसने हँसकर कहा
इतनी भी ख़राब नहीं होतीं फँसी हुई लड़कियाँ !
प्रेम के अभिज्यात्य वैभव का सौभाग्य
और समाहारक हैं ये ही फँसी हुई लड़कियाँ !

✴️ ‘खतरा’
क्या तुम्हारे पास कोई गवाही है कि तुम सपरिवार
अँधरे में दोनों हाथ ऊपर उठाए जंगलों में धकेले गए
और तुम्हारे सामने ही बच्चियों की अस्मत लूटी गई
तुम्हारे पिता जब गश खाकर गिर पड़े तो तुम्हें
उन सबके ऊपर पाँव रखकर जाने को मजबूर किया
गवाही लाओ कि तुम भूखे-प्यासे रहे और मीलों तक
पैदल चलकर बमुश्किल तुमने अपनी जान बचाई
कि तुम पर बिना बात ही बरसाई गईं लाठियाँ
मारा गया बंदूक़ के कुंदों से
इस बात की गवाही तो ज़रूर होगी तुम्हारे पास
कि आधी रात को तुम अकेले आकाश के नीचे बिलखते थे
तुम क्या कह सकते हो, बस चुप रह जाते हो
जैसे चुप्पी में ही कहत हो : शर्मिंदगी की,
यातना की, क्रूरता की गवाही नहीं है मेरे पास लेकिन स्मृति है।
