#65 - Sushi Balloon Body Piercing and Fine Jewelry
In this podcast episode of What's Up Omaha I chat with my guy, Kyle Ofe, of Sushi Balloon Body Piercing and Fine Jewelry. I met Kyle a few years ago on the mats at 10th Planet Omaha and we've always been cool. I thought our conversation would lean more towards Jiu-Jitsu, but we had plenty to talk about with his business, pandemic garden and the current condition of society. We even had a surprise visit from Mr. Beans, Kyles Rescue Cat, that he saved and nursed back to health. We will definitely have to do this again in the future! What a pleasure to have long time friend, George Langabeer, on this podcast. George has been catching criminals for years in many different ways. I Don't Want To Just Survive The Week!
A lot of people just survive the week and wish that it was Friday every Monday morning. Well, I don't want to be that way. I definitely understand it, but that can't be the answer. I want more out of life and am always grinding to find a better way. That is why I hustle the way I do. I'm searching... My hard work will pay off and people will notice. That has always been my thought process from the day that I started Small Guy Promotions. It's a very exciting time right now because I feel like the dial is starting to move.

Blue Belt!
I've worked so hard in my Jiu-Jitsu training at 10th Planet Omaha and this past Friday night I was promoted to a blue belt. That is a huge accomplishment for me, but I know that the work is just beginning. There is a whole new set of challenges that come along with a promotion. Now, it's time to transform myself into something greater than what i am now. My weight loss journey has been fun. I have lost about 30lbs overall and I am feeling pretty good. I've have a few people ask me what I'm doing to get results. Some of it is staying active with BJJ, but most of it is making the decision to eat healthier. There is no easy route to making a change and it takes hard work.

#39 - 80's Snack Shack & Riot by Ricki
In this episode of What's Up Omaha, I was invited out to the 80's Snack Shack to eat some good food and check out our friend's business during a pop-up at the restaurant. It was a great opportunity for a quick interview with 80's Snack Shack & Riot by Ricki. The restaurant serves up authentic Mexican Cuisine that is inexpensive and very convenient. Being right across the street from Bryan High School, the 80's Snack Shack wanted to make sure to have affordable food items for students that stop over to grab a bite. Riot by Ricki is a Health & Beauty business that has things like makeup, bath bombs, soaps, etc. There are some unique fragrances like Bacon and the Just Good Ass Soap. Ricki started her business because it was expensive to get the facial products that she used so she decided to start making them herself. #30 - Virtuoso Pizzeria by David Losole
In this episode of What's Up Omaha I head out to Benson, Nebraska to see what's up with David Losole at Virtuoso Pizzeria. I've never been in the commercial kitchen of a pizzeria and oh my did it smell good. This was a great place to stop out to. David Losole is part of the locally known Losole family of Lo Sole Mio Ristorante. He wanted to branch out from the family business and start his own business because he loves the Benson area and saw a great opportunity when the Pizza Shoppe that formerly owned the space decided to close. The pizza is really good and the slices are huge! All the ingredients are freshly made and carefully measured out to make sure every individual pizza packs the same flavor punch. You can see the passion that David has for making pizza and serving up some of the best in Omaha. Please help us by sharing this podcast! #28 - Priority Foster Care Nebraska
In this episode of What's Up Omaha I sit down with Shawn Riddle, Executive Director of Priority Foster Care Nebraska, and Amanda Stevenson, a Foster Parent and friend. The goal of this discussion was to raise awareness about the system of Foster Care. For a lot of us, myself included, we may not have a vast knowledge of what Foster Care is and what it means to those involved. Aside from Amanda I am not aware of any other friends that I have that are Fosters. Without knowing her I would know even less than I do now. I love this interview because it allowed us to get a glimpse into the world not only from the organizational perspective, but also the family perspective. Though we were able to cover a good amount of content I do know that we probably barely even scratched the surface of this topic. The main takeaway is for people to understand that Foster Care is about reunification of the biological family.

#25 - KNE Films
In this episode of What's Up Omaha I sit down with my friend, Kenny Cheairs of KNE Films, and we discuss his journey behind the camera. Initially Kenny started out as an artist/entertainer that craved to be in front of the camera, but after loosing his sight in 2005 he had decided that there would have to be a different path for his life. While Kenny still loves to perform he has adjusted his focus on his film and video work. A lot of people may find it odd that someone who is legally blind is a filmographer & videographer, but Kenny is more than comfortable in his new role recently graduating from film school. Kenny's goal in life is to let people know that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and that people with disabilities should be given the same opportunities that others receive. Golden Bowl was definitely one of the places that I had in mind to interview when I started the What's Up Omaha invertviews. I initially wrote a blog about them after our first visit a few years ago and I shared it with the restaurant. John was so happy that he asked me to introduce myself the next time that we stopped in. We've been cool ever since and the rest is ancient Chinese history! Haha. They contribute so much to me being the #OmahaFattie! Visit Golden Bowl - https://goldenbowl.us/

#20 - Chaima African Cuisine
In this episode of What's Up Omaha I stop by Chaima African Cuisine to speak with Chaima about what it is like to be a small business owner and a representative of African culture in Omaha, Nebraska. It has taken Chaima many years to get momentum going for her business and there was a lot of hard work along the way. She started out loading a grill into her car and following people to places where there was a gathering and she would set up shop. She's come a long way from those times, but the passion and hustle have not stopped. It's now a family affair and things are better than ever. Let me know what you think of the interview! This episode of What's Up Omaha is by far the most fun one yet. Ima Clown is so wonderful to be around and you cannot help but to smile. We've known each other for years and the passion that she has for bringing fun to others is amazing. This is an interview that could have gone on forever and I would have been okay with that. I feel like the vibe was really good between us. Balloons, face painting, a bag of prizes and fun! She brings all of those things to the table. Ima is also community focused and does a lot for charitable causes in the area. If you are in the Omaha area and need entertainment for your event consider Ima Clown. #18 - Le Smash
On this episode of What's Up Omaha I get the chance to sit down with Nick and Laney, owners of Le Smash, in Bellevue, NE. Le Smash is a smash room where customers can rent a room and for 25 minutes can relieve stress and frustrations by smashing different items. At Le Smash customers can bring in items to smash or use items provided by the business. Through partnerships with other local businesses Le Smash is able to acquire wine bottles, beer bottles, and other smashable items. For those that have seen the movie Office Space and dreamed about taking a bat, crowbar, hammer etc to a printer, Le Smash is for you. You get to make a mess and you don't even have to clean it up. If you stop into Le Smash you will not only hear the destructive noises of things being smashed, but you will also hear giggles and celebrations of smash triumphs. This is a fun alternative to traditional stress relief practices. Check out Le Smash - http://www.lesmashomaha.com/

#14 - Nye Street Studio Photography
In this episode of What's Up Omaha I interview local photographer and President of Nebraska Spina Bifida Site, Nia Karmann, and we talk about how Spina Bifida played a vital role in her becoming a small business owner. There was one instance in particular that stands out when she was on a job shadow and the professional photographer would not show her the ropes because he didn't believe in her ability to succeed and overcome her situation. Nia took some much needed time to think and pray on making the right decisions for her future and her path. She ended up deciding to follow her heart and became a photographer despite what anyone thought and I think that this is awesome! Nia and I met last October on National Spina Bifida Day at a fundraiser that her organization coordinated at Smitty's Garage (Restaurant). My wife and I have some family friends with a child that was born with Spina Bifida and we wanted to support the cause.

#12 - Justin "Pensive" Gilbreath
What's Up Omaha - Justin "Pensive" Gilbreath. In this episode I talk with Pensive about his journey with art. Playing and instructing guitar, painting/drawing and now starting a new role as a tattoo artist. I first met Pensive through some mutual friends and the local Hip Hop scene in Omaha. Like many, I was instantly taken back by his amazing talent as a painter. I always say that he has a beautiful mind because his creations are like nothing else that I've ever seen. He holds a special place in my heart as he challenged my daughter to 30 Day Art Challenge where she had to create a new drawing every day. The challenge pushed my daughter as an artist and also gave her a wonderful goal to work towards. Pensive is more than an artist, he is just a great guy and if you sat down to speak with him you would understand why. I really enjoyed being able to interview and speak with him this week. It was just a more in depth version of what we normally do when we get the chance to converse.

This interview features Moe Williams of Coach Moe Athletics. Moe and I met when I was a co-host on a web radio show called Surviving Life's Tribulations on 1690AM The One. My co-host, Dona Smith, was also a basketball coach and had a friendship with Moe. We were introduced about 4 years ago and have since kept in touch mainly via Social Media. Coach Moe not only is a coach of basketball, but also specializes in speed & agility as well. After our first interview Moe was telling me that he was going through the process of becoming a licensed business and he is now had his LLC for almost 3 years. That is a great feat!
