The Business of Entertainment with The Cut Creator DJ Outkast

The Business of Entertainment with The Cut Creator DJ Outkast

In this 22nd episode, Jason Johnson chats with The Cut Creator DJ Outkast about the business aspects of being a DJ and being in the entertainment business.

Here is some more about The Cut Creator DJ Outkast:

Born Chantry C. Hodge on the island of St Maarten, Dutch West Indies, he knew at a very young age that music would be his life. Experimenting on some old turntables, a CD player and a cassette deck in his basement he immersed himself in the world of music his father left behind when he closed an old family record shop owned for decades. A large selection of singles and LP records of the 70's and 80's were at his fingertips and with a little flourish and perfecting his own performing talent Outkast started playing for birthday parties and other small events at the age of 15.

In June 2004, DJ Outkast traveled to Europe for the first time, where he played at venues in Amsterdam & Germany. These events prepared DJ Outkast for what was ahead of him in the coming months as in August, international beer distributor Heineken held its very first Green

Synergy DJ Competition, featuring the Caribbean's best DJs. DJ Outkast, the youngest DJ in the competition at age 20, won hands down. As St Maarten's Champion, DJ Outkast placed 2nd in Antigua for the Caribbean finals of the Green Synergy Competition. In 2006 history repeated itself when Outkast won St. Maarten's Competition for a 2nd time. Then went on to The Bahamas to place 2nd in the Caribbean Finals, which was featured on popular Caribbean TV network Tempo.

Since the Green Synergy experience, The Cut Creator has been making his mark throughout the Caribbean & Europe. He has been instrumental in promoting St. Maarten through his musical talent. Outkast's quick mixes and energetic style of playing is the reason why his popularity has been on a rise with promoters and fans alike. With a vast travel history in the past 6 years, Outkast
has entertained party people in more than 15 countries & over 30 cities in his quest to make himself a household name wherever he plays.

In 2009 Outkast was approached by Dj Whoo Kid & Dj Genie Of The Shadyville Djs to create Shadyville Caribbean. A Caribbean branch off of the world-famous Shadyville Dj Fraternity which is also established with Shady/Aftermath & G Unit. Dj Outkast is now signed on and apart of Top Gunners & Shadyville Djs along with Shadyville/Aftermath & G Unit!! Doing St. Maarten Proud!!!

In 2010 Outkast made another major step by creating "Back At It Radio" His syndicated radio show that is creating quite a buzz. Syndicating to countries like Curacao', Trinidad & Tobago, New York, Florida, & England among others. Outkast breaks the newest records, breaks down the latest news & counts down the hottest club bangers.

In 2011 Outkast traveled to New York where he was featured as a guest DJ on BET's popular countdown show "106 & Park" where he appeared on 3 different show including Wild Out Wednesdays & Freestyle Fridays.

Blockchain and Space Commerce

Blockchain and Space Commerce

Blockchain is one of those high-tech buzzwords that we're hearing more and more often, but what is the Blockchain and how does it impact space commerce?

On this episode, host Tom Patton talks with Grant Blaisdell, Co-Founder of the Blockchain Analytics and AML company Coinfirm, and Copernic Space, the marketplace for digital Space assets.

Copernic Space uses innovative technology and models to scale up the commercialization and financing of the space economy, so millions will better benefit from these digital space assets. On this podcast, Mr. Blaisdell discusses how Blockchain technology will lead to the "democratization" of space in terms of who can invest in commercial space companies.

Copernic Space provides democratized access to the space economy and open marketplace to manage and commercialize downstream applications and finance space projects globally.

With millions of companies able to benefit from these digital space assets and millions more individuals wanting to financially contribute to space projects, Copernic Space uses innovative technology and models to scale up the commercialization and financing of the space economy.

Since being founded in early 2016 by experienced compliance, technology, and finance professionals, Coinfirm has grown to become a globally recognized RegTech firm. Coinfirm has offices in the UK, Poland, US, Canada, and Japan which are supporting financial inclusion projects, combatting human trafficking, and safeguarding the world’s digital economy.

Grant has been creating ventures at the intersection of new technologies and media between the US and Central Europe since his late teens. He is an early innovator in applying blockchain technology to various industries. As a lifelong musician and hip hop artist known as GB Savant, Grant also applies his technological work to his music with upcoming projects such as Mr. Crypto.

From Agency Owner to Top Agency Advisor with Jason Swenk

This episode features Jason Swenk.

Here is his story:
Fresh out of college I was off to work for Arthur Anderson, one of the big 5 consulting firms. I quickly realized that I couldn’t work for anyone but myself, so I decided to change direction, quit my day job and launch a digital marketing agency that quickly grew to a multi-million dollar operation working with brands from AT&T, Hitachi, and Lotus Cars. After 12 years of steady growth, we caught the attention of bigger agencies and sold the agency in 2012.

Now, he runs a unique consultancy helping marketing agency owners grow their agencies faster.

Clients say Doug is particularly adept at listening, and working with people to find focus, develop strategies, and make and keep commitments to themselves. He also has a rather distinct way of working with people to come up with magical answers and strategies. He is extremely careful to not be judgmental, nor be too harsh, nor too soft with each client. Even though Doug has designed a time-tested program contained in his notebook, he custom designs the program to fit each clients particular needs, desires, philosophy, and personality.

Each year the JAX Chamber salutes the entrepreneurial spirit of Jacksonville’s small businesses with the Small Business Leader of the Year Award.
