03: Rising Freshman Orientation
What should our rising freshmen be planning for as they get ready for high school? High school is unique for every student - there are different paths to take, different courses of study, and unique choices based on each students’ interests or goals. As 8th grade students plan for the transition to high school, we discuss that preparation and the resources we have available to assist them with insights from students, counselors, and school leaders.
Hosted by Jeff Maher, featuring Marc Pirner (Principal of Chopticon HS), Molly Beck (Counselor at Great Mills HS), Colleen Gill (Supervisor of Academies and Pathways), and students, Naggena and Judy.
02: Food, Fitness, and Fun
Over the last year, students’ involvement in schools has been limited and the supports the school system has provided has often been from a distance. In this episode, we will talk about some of the supports for students that help them to be healthy and engaged. The discussion includes comments and insights from school and system leaders in how these services are provided.
Hosted by Jeff Maher, featuring Marc Pirner (Principal of Chopticon HS), Mike Watson (Director of Facility Coordination, Health and Physical Education, and Athletics), Megan Doran (Director of Food & Nutrition Services), and Todd Burroughs (Supervisor of Fine Arts)
01 Hybrid Learning in St. Mary's County Schools
As we transition to in-person learning, the first step is implementing a hybrid learning experience, where students attend both in-person, and online. In this podcast, we will dive into that experience - for students, for teachers, and for the school as a whole. The discussion includes perspectives from students, teachers, and school administration.
Hosted by Jeff Maher, featuring Marc Pirner (Principal of Chopticon HS), Jacob Fusco (teacher at CHS), and students: Naggena and Sophia. Musical intro by Todd and Christy Burroughs.
