Last week the Snugcast was back, this week, the country is back.... COME OOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! The boys are joined by Peter Breen from the Portlaoise Pub Club and the #DrinkIrish movement and we basically chat all good things of the pubs reopening. We share our thoughts on the first pint, first pub and first chat we're all going to experience. We've been so giddy with the thoughts of stepping back into the pubs, we may lose the run of ourselves a bit. This week's shout-out goes to Brú Brewery. Their range of core range and Jungle Series beers have bowled us over and we're delighted to shout them out!

We're back baby! We've gotten the podcast back up and we've a new logo to boot. We'd like to thank Ciaraíoch (find her work on https://www.ciaraioch.com/) This week we discussed about how we're swapping out our old ads and giving back to the community by advertising an Irish brewery each week. Kinnegar Brewing is our shoutout this week. Go pick yourself up some Scraggy Bay you beauties. We've also started giving more to our beautiful Patreon supporters by giving an exclusive post-podcast recording called the Síbín where we go a bit looser and talk even more muck. It has been a very long 4 and a half months. Sobriety doesn't suit me. So, after an accident that struck me out for a bit I teamed up with my partner in crime, and our good friend Tommy Keighery for a night of pints to beat the band in the one and only Phil Grimes. Thanks for sticking with us folks, and for all the kind messages! 2022 is our year. Merry Christmas, happy New Year. May 2022 be full of pints and free of this bastard virus. Le gach dea-ghuí, DJ

Last week we chatted about the pubs opening again on September 21st! Some things have happened since, which means Dublin has been delayed 3 weeks in opening but DJ got married in the meantime so we have been indisposed but are happy to bring you this episode, with pretty much zero editing from the west coast of Ireland rather than the south east! The Last Call Part 1
The Last Call Part 1
The Last Call is a 2 part audio miniseries we have produced in conjunction with some pubs around Ireland. We speak to Tom Ryan of Phil Grimes Pub, Marie Mellett of Mellett's Emporium, Aoife Brennan of The Kilteel Inn, Ed Cahill from Tully's, Mike McMahon of Mothermacs and Fergal Chamber of The Four Provinces. In Part 1 of the series we find out about the background and setting of these pubs and try to get to know them a bit ebtter, before getting stuck into the impact COVID has had on them in part 2 as well as what the future looks like. The Last Call refers to the last time we have had a pint in these pubs, but not the final call. The resilience, determination to come back stronger and the love for the role each of the pubs play in the respective communities shines through these interviews. We hope you enjoy.#SupportNotSympathy was trending on Twitter yesterday, when we were due to publish this episode, but we held it back. We want to give pubs a small platform for their voices to be heard, but yesterday the pubs grabbed the bull by the horns and shouted from their rooftops. Fair play to you all. Hang in their, our lips are quivering for a pint in your company, sooner rather than later.--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/snugcast/message Get bonus content on PatreonSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/snugcast. Rasputin, Robespierre and Joseph Mary Plunkett Walk into a Bar....
The two boys headed off on the train with a bag of Super Soaker cans buíochas le Wicklow Wolf agus Yellowbelly Beer and they headed for Kilkenny. Billy Byrnes bar was the venue where they were going to settle into a few pints with Fin Dwyer, the host of the Irish History Podcast, a favourite podcast of DJs. The next hour or so of audio is the lads chatting about history in the least conventional way possible. A fascinating conversation about how history is taught and how we perceive the modern world, especially the role of women in Ireland is had. Fuelled by some pints of 12 Acres Pale Ale from Killeshin in Co. Laois just up the road from Kilkenny and some Beyond A Pale from Costellos, a brewery local to Kilkenny we move onto some serious topics. Ever wondered which character form history the lads would like to play in a feature film? Have you ever thought, who would Fin love to have over from history for a session to spill some beans? This is the podcast for you! We can't tell you in words how much fun we had recording this one! He Could Have Died at a Renaissance Fair
This week the two lads are joined by a very special guest, Alan Maguire of the Juvenalia podcast. In what is a jovial chat, filled with laughs and fuelled by pints the lads chat about a variety of topics. Eoin wanted to know if we'd rather be a dog or a ghost which unsurprisingly saw us regale tales of Casper, Homeward Bound and discuss the sexual capacity of a paranormal being., DJ always being on hand to lower the tone. We then delve into nostalgia, a concept at the core of Juvenalia. We chat about Beyoncé and her influence on the youth of today, we chat Marvel and it's slow acceptance of female and minority characters. We also get stuck into shows that we loved then but nearly loathe now. Finally, for some reason unbeknownst to anyone with a functioning adult brain Eoin decided he wanted to chat about the price of a haircut. All while having some tasty pints in Grady's Yard. Mental. We finished the budget chat in Ballytruckle after Tom stopped serving. Despite not having the evening as planned we had a blast meeting these 2 mad eejits and hearing their story.
