Toss The Toxins w/ Marilee Nelson

Toss The Toxins w/ Marilee Nelson

This week Shanna and Rian speak with Marilee Nelson, co-founder of Branch Basics, a company on a mission to “help people create healthy homes and experience the power of pure” by educating people on the importance of removing toxins from their home and offering a line of products that safely and effectively replace these dangerous household products. Most people do not know everyday household products are causing health issues and negatively impacting the body’s ability to fight off anything else that may be going on in the body by outgassing a chemical soup that is wreaking havoc on our immune system. Marilee powerfully shares how eliminating toxins from her home environment prevented her from having a kidney transplant in her 20s and, years later, saved her son from the detrimental affects of having been exposed to high grade pesticides in a chemical accident he had when he was ten years old.

Whether you or a loved one are currently dealing with debilitating health issues or not, removing toxins form the home is critical to keeping our immune system operating optimally. Tune into this episode to learn not only the power of removing these toxic items from your home but where to began applying this process of “tossing the toxins” from your home.

Marilee is a Board Certified Nutritionist, Certified Building Biologist, Building Material Specialist and is on the advisory board for Documenting Hope. For 30 years, she has worked with the chronically ill, children with disabilities, and the mold and chemically injured. She lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband.

Yogic Philosophies & Practice of Ricardo Gonzalez-Jurado

Yogic Philosophies & Practice of Ricardo Gonzalez-Jurado

Ricardo Gonzalez-Jurado is the owner and operator of the sacred Samadhi Yoga Retreat, a 30-acre nature preserve in the Texas Hill Country dedicated to silence and yogic education for children and children at heart. Through the Samadhi Yoga Retreat, Ricardo and his extended team of practitioners are dedicated to teaching children and adults the philosophy of yoga with the intention of planting seeds of harmony, balance and love. One of the most fascinating features of the Samadhi Yoga Retreat is a three story cedar pyramid designed and built by Ricardo as a tribute to silence and teaching yoga philosophy to all that inquire (we had the opportunity to attend a sound healing class hosted in the pyramid!). The retreat center is available for yoga retreats, meditation, and other wellness events with a focus of connection, silence, and well-being.

In this episode, Shanna and Tracey chat with Ricardo about his journey from El Salvador to the Texas Hill Country (via Guatemala, Belize & Houston!), his early exposure to yoga as a child and the impact this ultimately had on him creating the Samadhi Yoga Retreat (and by creating we mean literally building the three story pyramid and accompanying buildings!). He also shares the three philosophies that guide his life as well as the overall philosophy of yoga so you may want to grab a pen and paper before settling into this wisdom packed episode.

Because we love you and want you to easily take these powerful philosophies into your own life, we’re sharing his three life philosophies here:

1.) I Am Because We Are (focusing on community, unity and sharing with one another)

2.) “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” - Maya Angelou

3.) "If your plan is for one year, plant rice. If your plan is for ten years, plant trees. If your plan is for a hundred years, educate children.” - Confucius

Definitely tune into the episode to hear how he came across these particular philosophies (the first one might bring a tear to your eye; we know it did for us!) as well as to expand on the full meaning of them.

Bodywork w/ Becky Rosenthal

Bodywork w/ Becky Rosenthal

This week we talk with Becky Rosenthal about the lost art of Shiatsu, a Japanese form of bodywork that uses the practitioner’s fingers (Shiatsu translates to “finger pressure”), thumbs and palms to apply pressure to certain areas of the body called meridian channels, where the focus is on bringing the body back to homeostasis by working with the “energy body”. To help demystify this process of reading and working with stuck energy, Becky shares how shaking Shanna’s legs during their session revealed the need for Shanna to dance more! (You have to tune in to find out!)

Becky blends her palpable understanding of the physical body from her background in health education and massage therapy with the deeper, intuitive art of knowing how energy flows through the body from her training in Shiatsu along with a mindful practice of compassionate listening from her background as an ordained Buddhist to offer clients a multi-layered approach to determining and addressing what is going in their physical and emotional bodies. As with many wellness practices and modalities, anyone can benefit from Shiatsu but Becky says it really opens the door to begin a healing process, so the people who benefit the most are those who are ready to commit to a healing journey.

According to Becky’s favorite quote and a strong tenant to her practice, “stopping, calming and resting are preconditions for healing”. With today’s world being so fast paced and highly stressful, along with the effects of isolation from 2020, people are, unknowingly, energetically locked in freeze or flight modes which is causing the body to not digest food (and life) in the most optimal ways. Booking a Shiatsu session with Becky begins this process of healing by stopping, calming and resting, at least for the time your with her and in her space, which she has intentionally created to honor these needed elements of healing. Often people come to Becky by referral, having no understanding of what Shiatsu is or what can come from the session; they just know someone they trust said to they benefitted from it. We hope SoLive’s personal experience can serve as a beneficial referral for you, should it resonate.

The Power of Art to Heal w/ Jeanne Philippus

The Power of Art to Heal w/ Jeanne Philippus

This week we speak with Jeanne Philippus, owner of J. Philippus Art Studio & Gallery in San Antonio, TX about the power of art and healing. Her studio offers 90 minute classes in glass art, resin on charcuterie boards and acrylic pouring to individuals, groups, couples and parties, where all classes can be made kid friendly. Jeanne’s intention is to create a safe space for participants to creatively express who they are. Even though she guides and leads participants in these glasses, she says there are no rules to follow. She simply wants people to give themselves permission to sit and create. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete newbie, these classes help you discover your inner artist and so much more!

It’s the “so much more” that Jeanne says people unexpectedly respond to once they’ve attended a class (and has them coming back for more!). The 90 minute classes provide an opportunity to slowdown and be present as the process of creating art naturally and effortlessly pulls participants into what they’re doing. This heightened focus allows the class to become a form of meditation, where space is created for aspects of inner healing to begin taking place. It allows people to get out of their own way by effortlessly stepping out of their stressful thoughts into the present moment. And in some instances, it opens up space for buried traumas to surface and be healed. Jeanne truly believes you can turn something broken into something beautiful, but it takes time. Her art studio offers a permission slip for others to take the necessary time to begin this process of inner healing through an outer expression of art. This is all by intention as Jeanne prayed this would be a place of healing prior to opening her studio. The response to her classes overwhelmingly affirms this!

Tune in to hear Jeanne’s personal story of using art to heal her own trauma of losing her first husband early in their marriage as well as how it inspired her to open an art studio focused on helping others heal though the power of art.

The studio is open from 11:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday. For a list of classes, check out her website: JPhilippusart.com (or call the studio). You can follow her on social media here: Instagram and Facebook.

Healing Partnership b/t Horses & Humans w/ Laurie Higgins-Kerley

Healing Partnership b/t Horses & Humans w/ Laurie Higgins-Kerley

In this fascinating interview, Laurie Higgins-Kerley shares the unique way she blends her love for horses and spirituality into a one-of-a-kind offering for individuals on the path of inner healing and expansion. She shares two significant personal experiences that caused her to ask “Who am I beyond this?” and “Where do I go from here?”, questions many of us can relate to when facing the perceived parameters and challenges of our respective lives.

The initial questioning set her on a lifelong path of studying and certifying in multiple spiritual modalities including Shamanism, Medicine Wheel teachings and ceremonies, drumming circles, and Kundalini Yoga, all of which continues to deepen her understanding of who she is and allows her to facilitate workshops, retreats and coaching that aids others in their own journey of the soul.

The loss of her husband in 2008 posed as one of the most challenging journeys of her soul. However, in a true “phoenix rising from the ashes” transformation, it led to both her most unique offering—the healing power of horses—and her next chapter—creating Dove Creek Equine Rescue, a non-profit focused on rescuing, rehabbing, retraining and rehoming horses.

Laurie sees Dove Creek Equine Rescue as a beautiful circle of horses and humans giving back to one another, where this circle began with a few horses on the ranch left to her by her late husband offering her a powerful heart space to begin feeling moments of peace during the grieving process. Each time she left the ranch after spending time with the horses she felt the magnitude of their presence like a balm to her slowly healing soul. This initial handful of horses offering her healing in one of the most challenging chapters of her life has since led to the full-time rescue operation it is today, complete with volunteers showing up daily to care for and connect with the horses. The circle of healing between horses and humans continues in this organic fashion in all that she does through Dove Creek Equine Rescue and the workshops, retreats and coaching she offers through Led by Horses.

Speaking of retreats, SoLive had the pleasure of attending a private weekend retreat at the ranch called “Phoenix Rising”, where Shanna and Tracey share a bit about their respective experiences while also leaving the mystery open for others to discover by booking a retreat of their own! See their experience on our SoLive The Video Series YouTube channel HERE

Bio: Laurie Higgins-Kerley is the founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, Dove Creek Equine Rescue. LIFE 120: Restore Your Gut Health w/ Tosh James

LIFE 120: Restore Your Gut Health w/ Tosh James

Tosh James is back on the podcast sharing his new program called Life 120, which is all about resetting and restoring our gut health. This program was created through a combination of utilizing juice and food regimens he’s been using with clients suffering from debilitating health issues as well as a personal prompting from the Holy Spirit that intuitively guided him through the various phases of what is now known as Life 120. This program is meant to help anyone, whether you’re currently suffering debilitating health issues or feel fairly healthy, to optimize how your body processes food. It does so by stripping out all chemical laden foods from your diet and only allowing real, organic food. But not to worry, there are built in cheat days where you can have your go to favorites! The goal is to create an eating lifestyle that primarily incorporates real, organic food so your body returns to processing food in the way it was designed to do so. Once your diet (lifestyle) is primarily oriented on consuming real, organic food, your body will no longer hang onto whatever type of food you decide to consume during your cheat days (which is what it’s likely doing now). Tosh shares the exact regimen in our interview as well as the personal results he experienced.

As mentioned in the interview, we wanted to share where you can find and purchase organic food. If you're local to San Antonio, check out The Farm Connection, a private buying club (similar to a co-op) that offers local, organic food products. If you're not local to San Antonio, we suggest looking for a co-op or private buying club in your area to source your organic food.

For more information on Life 120, visit www.toshjames.com to download LIFE 120 PDF, or you can contact Tosh’s office at (512) 410-9330 or email him at ask@toshjames.com. Life 120 Journal: Prescription For A New Life can also be purchased on Amazon!

Tosh James is the founder of an elite wellness consulting firm called Le Connoisseurs where he’s an advisor to Biologix, a safe and effective, nontoxic regimen that has been successfully helping people with a wide range of ailments including cancer. You can learn more about this in our original interview with Tosh from Season 2, Episode 7 titled: Body Engineering Therapies w/ Tosh James. You can also hear testimonials from clients (Regan, Barb & Rosario) who have taken his regimen in Season 3 of our podcast.

Women & Girls Mental Health w/ Michelli Ramon

Women & Girls Mental Health w/ Michelli Ramon

Michelli Ramon is psychotherapist and social worker who works in the arena of women and girls mental health. Her passion for this field stems from her personal journey with trying to understand her own depression, which was something that took many years to diagnose, since, from the outside looking in, it always looked as if her life was “together”. In recognizing it often takes, on average, 10 years for women to receive a proper diagnosis (since women tend to unintentionally “hide it well” by going on with life and continuing to take care of their responsibilities), she’s working to change this by utilizing information that will help get to the root of what is going on in a much shorter timeframe. One of the ways she does this is by asking her clients to get a metabolic panel done before her first session with them. This gives deep insight into the body’s chemistry so things like gut function (which affects mental health) can be understood from the outset. She’s also deeply interested in understanding her client’s sleep patterns since this directly impacts mental health, as well.

She’s also adamant about turning the idea of self-care on it’s head so it’s no longer an item for women to check off their list of things to do (or to feel guilty about if it doesn’t get done) by helping her clients understand that self-care is really about understanding and designing their life around their values.

With the stress of achievement that so many young people face today, Michelli is also working with girls (and their parents) to help shape what is most important to them by aiding them in identifying their values and using these values to design and shape their commitments around.

When working with clients, Michelli is about love, self-compassion, radical acceptance, embracing failure, trusting your innate wisdom and starting over. She fundamentally believes in every person's ability to recover from trauma, addiction and life, in general. She believes that everything you put in your body impacts your mood and, therefore, your relationship to the world around you. She offers thorough and thoughtful therapies that treat the whole person. See her website (www.michelliramon.com) for more information on her services.

Conscious Healing + Self Discovery w/ Triplet Theory

Conscious Healing + Self Discovery w/ Triplet Theory

Triplet theory is an online community created by triplet sisters, Jordan, Chandra and Trae, with a mission to illuminate the path of self-discovery, inner healing and personal freedom for those seeking to experience their highest potential and purpose in life. They want to help people become the best version of themselves. They especially want people to know that past traumas or emotional suffering need not impede on someone’s current happiness.

Overcome adversity is something Jordan, Chandra and Trae have plenty of direct experience with. At 17 months old, they were severely burned in an intentional house fire that claimed their mother’s life and put them on a long road of recovery, both physically and mentally. By the time they were 16 years old, their dad took his own life after battling his own demons through a drug addiction. Despite these traumas, the triplets continue to move through life open to joy, goodness and love.

This was amplified in 2017, when they were all visiting Nashville, TN together and experienced what they refer to as their spiritual awakening. Simultaneously, they all felt a spontaneous rush of divine energy, flooding them with unconditional love. This blissful state last two weeks before it began to fade. But it was the fading of this state that prompted them to ask themselves:

Why did that feeling fade?

Navigating Health Insurance w/ Janice Kapp

This week SoLive Wellness Committee Members, Rian Overcash and Shanna Covey, chat with Janice Kapp about navigating the world of insurance. Whether you have existing insurance and want to better understand your coverage, want to look for a more suitable insurance plan for your needs, find yourself in a hospital with a large, unanticipated bill without knowing how to pay for it, are looking at cancer treatment options that do not appear to be traditionally covered by insurance or want to know when paying cash is a better option than using your existing insurance coverage, Janice shares her wealth of knowledge on navigating the often overwhelming world of insurance. Having worked on the billing side of insurance for many years before starting her own insurance consulting firm, Janice is uniquely positioned to understand both sides of the insurance game. Having such a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from, she knows the best course of action often comes down to doing a cost benefit analysis to determine the most cost effective route. After hearing some of the incredible stories she shares regarding money saved for clients on the backend of a medical situation as well as planning for one on the front end, drawing on her expertise is something many of us will not want to miss!

Regan's Lymphoma Journey with Tosh James

Regan's Lymphoma Journey with Tosh James

As a follow up to our interview with Tosh James, where he introduced us to a safe and effective, nontoxic regimen called Biologix that has been successfully helping people with a wide range of ailments including cancer, we’re sharing testimonials from people who had been diagnosed with cancer and decided to go through his process after considering all of their options. Biologix is an all natural (no synthetics are involved in it’s production) regimen derived from ingredients harvested in the the pristine forests of Eastern Europe with proprietary engineering that utilizes mathematical algorithms to target and direct its application at highly customized levels, along with a combination of very precise food regimens, to help the body combat whatever is going on.

Today we’re excited to share Regan’s story, where, at 27 years old and after leading a healthy lifestyle throughout her life, she began to encounter a slew of health issues that could not be properly diagnosed. Five years into this journey, a chronic cough led her to a doctor’s visit, where days later, after seeing the results of her bloodwork and noticing how low her white blood cell count was, her doctor asked her to head immediately to the ER. Shortly thereafter, she found herself being put in the cancer ward, diagnosed with lymphoma. Given how dire her white blood count was, she was immediately put on a high dose chemotherapy regimen.

With a little more time, she began researching alternative cancer treatment options, which ultimately led her to Tosh James. What stood out for her in their initial consultation was his willingness to help the body address the root cause of whatever was causing both the cancer in her body and the chronic health issues she’d been living with for the past five years. Where her oncologist and many of the alternative treatment options only wanted to focus on the cancer (because they assumed the cancer caused the underlying issues), Tosh wanted to understand and address her overall wellness. This allayed a major concern for her regarding addressing the cancer only to have the chronic health issues remain.

She began working with Tosh in April 2019 where he immediately “floods the body with nutrients” through a proper food regimen consisting of fruits and veggies, smoothies as well as a liquid regimen for a period of time. In choosing to work with Tosh, she also stopped her original protocol of chemotherapy and her choice to do vitamin C and ozone therapy to soften the side effects of chemotherapy.

In addition to the dietary changes, Tosh put her on a topical (dermal) and oral regimen of the plant-based blend that uses proprietary engineering to target and direct its application at highly customized levels within the body. The proprietary engineering is what allows this plant-based regimen to work at a faster rate than only making dietary changes.

By that summer, Regan was feeling and looking better, so much so that she was working out and able to throw her kids in the pool! Today, Regan remains on Tosh’s maintenance regimen, feels great and has regular bloodwork done to monitor her cancer counts.

To learn more about this super natural healing process called Biologix, check out our interview with Tosh James here: https://bit.ly/2YdcNoi. If Tosh’s regime feels like an option for you, see the shownotes from his interview for contact info.

The Big Give w/ Mercedes Alhaj

The Big Give w/ Mercedes Alhaj

This is a special episode in honor of the Big Give, coming up on Thursday, September 10th, 2020!

The Big Give is a day where our community (San Antonio and surrounding areas) comes together to support local non-profits. Over 500 non-profits participate in this day of giving. This is SoLive’s 5th year to participate and, each year, it serves as our biggest fundraiser!

The entire event is held online so, wherever you find yourself that day, all that’s needed is a few minutes to access your phone or computer to make a contribution of your choosing towards your favorite non-profit(s)! We, of course, hope you’ll choose to support SoLive in our continued efforts to raise funds and awareness to make safe and effective cancer treatments and medications more accessible to public, while also promoting general health, wellness and happiness. Please check out our Big Give donation page HERE, and give to SoLive during the Big Give - should our mission call to your heart.

In this episode, our Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and board member, Shanna Covey, chat with Mercedes Alhaj with The Nonprofit Council about this year’s Big Give. The Nonprofit Council is the organizing force behind San Antonio’s Annual Big Give. With the Big Give originally schedule for March 26, 2020, Mercedes shares how they were able to pivot and postpone the Big Give so that they could focus their efforts on helping those organizations on the frontline during the then-emerging COVID-19 pandemic. Their work didn't stop there. Now, with the rescheduled Big Give right around the corner, The Nonprofit Council is still hard at work for it's charitable community. Mercedes explains their planning efforts, and ability to raise matching prize dollars to increase each participating organization's chances to raise funds during the Big Give.

With over $25 million dollars raised for nonprofits in San Antonio and the surrounding areas over the past 6 six years, we are honored and excited to once again participate in this year's 24-hour day of online charitable giving - the Big Give!

Barb's Aggressive Uterine Cancer Journey with Tosh James

Barb's Aggressive Uterine Cancer Journey with Tosh James

Today we’re excited to share Barb’s story, where in 2016, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of endometrial uterine cancer. In learning of Tosh’s regimen early in her cancer journey, she decided to take his protocol. Her initial bloodwork showed elevated cancer counts in all four cancer indicators as well as her pancreas, liver, colon, lung, and tumors in general. Tosh got her started on some lifestyle changes including a food regimen and compositions consisting of pills and sprays that were taken three times a day for five days. The food regimen was an anti-inflammatory, true super food type schedule. Incredibly, ten days after finishing this regimen, her bloodwork showed all previously elevated cancer markers within normal range!

Barb’s story is unique in that she also proceeded with conventional treatment (a hysterectomy) for her endometrial uterine cancer two days after receiving her bloodwork that revealed the cancer markers were within normal range. She decided to have the surgery to help assuage her husband’s concerns regarding taking a non-conventional regimen. After her surgery, her ovarian count increased, then came down after another two compositions of Tosh’s regimen. Barb remains on Tosh’s maintenance regimen, taking it quarterly and has been cancer free for four years! Today, Barb feels really good and is confident in the process she’s utilizing to monitor her health. If she were to get cancer again, she would choose Tosh’s regimen.

Today we’re excited to share Rosario’s story, a 77 year old woman who went through Tosh’s regimen. On this journey she happened to clear multiple late stage cancer diagnoses including stage four cirrhosis of the liver due to uncontrolled diabetes and stage four pancreatic cancer as well as breast and ovarian cancer. Rosario’s story is a combination of deep faith, researching options and answered prayers by way of being introduced to a super natural healing process. Body Engineering Therapies w/ Tosh James

Body Engineering Therapies w/ Tosh James

Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and Board Member, Shanna Covey, sit down with Tosh James, founder of an elite wellness consulting firm called Le Connoisseurs, to discuss Biologix, a safe and effective, nontoxic regimen that has been successfully helping people with a wide range of ailments including cancer. Biologix is an all natural (no synthetics are involved in it’s production) regimen derived from ingredients harvested in the the pristine forests of Eastern Europe. What makes Biologix different from simply adopting a fully organic diet, is the proprietary engineering that goes into creating each customized regimen.

Research for what is now known as Biologix began in the late 1800s and was perfected in the 1970s when mathematical algorithms were developed for directing the regimen in accordance with the specific needs of the body. This ability to target and direct its application at highly customized levels is what makes the regimen so effective at helping the body combat whatever is going on, whether it’s helping the body heal a soft tissue injury, fighting Hepatitis C, healing cancer or any number of additional things that take the body out of its natural state of health.

As the founder of Le Connoisseurs, Tosh James informs and guides those who are eager to learn about true wellness. With an exclusive list of clientele, celebs, dignitaries and royals, he also consults organizations worldwide on the broken industry of wellness and the future of global healthcare.

Eating Psychology w/ Tracey Keller

Eating Psychology w/ Tracey Keller

This week, Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and board member, Shanna Covey, sit down with fellow board member and SoLive Wellness Partner, Tracey Keller, to talk about her work as an eating psychology coach, life coach and personal trainer.

What sets Tracey apart from other personal trainers is her background in eating psychology. Instead of approaching health and fitness solely from the physical elements of monitoring and adjusting what we put into the body and how we expend the calories we consume, Tracey works with the emotional body to understand where a client is coming from in their desire to change the body. In doing so, she teaches her clients how to come into more self-love and innate worthiness. She empowers her clients to enjoy the process of transformation by first accepting who they are no matter how the body looks. She teaches them to be grateful for all the ways their body has served and continues to serve them. In bringing clients into deeper self-love and appreciation, she’s helping them heal any untrue thoughts they’ve picked up in their life experience. By helping clients heal their emotional body, the desired physical changes flow more naturally from this healed space. When you come from already loving yourself, it’s much easier to make choices that support the body’s functioning (versus trying to punish it into submission). She says the body is simply responding to us. If we’re cursing it, it’ll rise to the curse. Alternatively, if we’re loving it, it’ll rise to love and appreciation. This inside out approach to change (versus an outside in approach), allows for longer lasting change in her client’s desired outcome. It also creates a greater sense of inner peace, where striving to manipulate the body is no longer used to feel a sense of peace.

As mentioned in the episode, you can hear Tracey’s personal story in Shanna Covey’s podcast, Always Shine Brightly on Episode 11: The Barbie Illusion w/ Tracey Keller (link: http://bit.ly/2TZHVWs)

Tracey works passionately with clients on navigating their relationship with food and movement, helping them set up practices that lead to success in their highest calling. As an eating psychology coach, she shares an exciting and cutting edge approach to food and eating. This approach effectively addresses weight concerns, binge eating, overeating, body image challenges and various nutrition-related health concerns. Her approach is positive and empowering. She doesn’t see eating challenges merely as a sign that “something is wrong with you” – but as a place where one can more fully explore some of the personal dimensions of life that impact food, weight, athletic performance and health. Overcoming An 8lb Tumor w/ Keresa Richardson

Overcoming An 8lb Tumor w/ Keresa Richardson

Keresa Richardson got the surprise of a lifetime when, during her annual visit to the OBGYN, she was informed she had a tumor the size of a grapefruit. Her visit the prior year showed no signs of health issues. Unfortunately, female cancers tend to show up silently, without warning so it’s highly advised to make it to your annual visit.

At the time of her visit, her doctor felt certain the tumor was not cancerous, so, instead of sending her to an oncologist, he proceeded with surgery to remove it. More bad news: the tumor was cancerous and it burst during surgery, causing cancer to spread throughout her body. Her doctor retired shortly thereafter.

Knowing she did not want to go the traditional routes of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, she sought other options, which ultimately led her to Dr. Truitt and his Amyloxine treatment. Her story comes with a unique set of complications along the journey to recovery, but fortunately, she got there!

Join our Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and board member, Tracey Keller, as they speak with Keresa about her journey from diagnosis to recovery.

5 Pillars of Health w/ Dr. Goff

5 Pillars of Health w/ Dr. Goff

This week’s guest, Dr. Jonathan Goff, is not your average chiropractor. Instead, he operates more as a functional medicine doctor where, in addition to a chiropractor’s primary focus on the nervous system, he also incorporates additional aspects of health and wellness in what he refers to as his 5 Pillars of health program.

These 5 pillars include: Detox, Nutrition, Fitness, Hormones & the Nervous System.

Through his 5 Pillar Program, Dr. Goff is empowering his patients to not need him. He empowers them to adopt a healthy lifestyle that serves them in the long run, where their return visits are as needed chiropractic adjustments (similar to a car needing an oil change…something to keep the body or car going as apart of an ongoing maintenance plan).

Join Shanna and board member, Tracey Keller, in this fascinating conversation with Dr. Goff on health and wellness.

Amyloxine Cancer Treatment Testimonial w/ Charlotte Lacy

Amyloxine Cancer Treatment Testimonial w/ Charlotte Lacy

We, at SoLive, love Charlotte Lacy! Her spunk, faith and zest for life are contagious! Her story is one you will not want to miss…

In 2002, Charlotte was in the middle of her thriving real-estate career, enjoying life as the grandmother and months away from marrying her soulmate when she received a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis for Lymphatic cancer.

Not knowing of any other treatment options available to her, she proceeded with the commonly recommended treatment of Chemotherapy, where she, then, lost all of her hair after her first treatment. Her white blood cell count also dropped to the point of being severely concerned if someone with the common cold was in the same vicinity as her. She wasn’t keen on this treatment route knowing others who had suffered it fateful side effects. But, again, she knew of no other options.

Then, one momentous real-estate appointment changed the course of her life. It was during this appointment that she was given the infamous VHS tape of Dr. Truitt’s lecture (which is now available on YouTube!). She immediately resonated with Dr. Truitt’s knowledge and description of how his medication, Amyloxine, works and began the patient consultation process.

People who choose to treat cancer through alternative routes often meet well meaning resistance from loved ones (which is completely understandable). Charlotte’s situation was no different. Her family was scared and concerned by her choice. But she felt she was in alignment with what was right for her and proceeded faithfully. Even her beloved partner, Robert, asked her one final time at Dr. Truitt’s hospital, “Are you sure this is what you want to do?”. Her conviction was a strong Yes.

Two injections of Amyloxine, six weeks of an oral version of the medication and two weeks of another customized version of consuming specific juice based nutrients later, Charlotte went back to her stateside oncologist to have her blood work done and the doctor’s response was, “Wow, you’re cancer-free, but I don’t see your chemo-treatment in your file?”. (Tune into our interview to hear the full extent of this fascinating conversation between her and her doctor)!

Lymphatic cancer is one of the more aggressive cancers in that it tends to come back. Because Charlotte went through Dr. Truitt’s treatment, she not only had a positive experience during the two month treatment process, she also experienced a high quality of life for the next 7 or 8 years before receiving a second cancer diagnosis for lymphatic cancer (but this time it was caught at Stage 3). She immediately returned to Dr. Truitt for treatment and has enjoyed a high quality of life for the past 11 years!

Join Shanna Schulze, our Executive Director, and Shanna Covey, one of our board members, in this powerful conversation with the always feisty Charlotte Lacy, where she shares her story and spunk in more detail!

If you’re interested in speaking with to Dr. Truitt’s patient consultant, she can be reached at 1 (888) 205-3262.

Healing Cancer through the Power of Faith, Nutrition & Chemical-Free Living w/ Jerrica Alvarado

Healing Cancer through the Power of Faith, Nutrition & Chemical-Free Living w/ Jerrica Alvarado

We were completely blown away by Jerrica Alvarado’s powerful story of healing from cancer. There’s never an ideal situation to receive a cancer diagnosis. For Jerrica, that meant being 22 with a two year old son, a six month old son (who was also battle health issues) and a husband who was about to be deployed (and was out of state in training). Jerrica kept this diagnosis to herself not wanting anything weighing on her husband's mind prior to heading into battle as an infantry soldier. Turning to her extended family was not an option as these relationships were in disarray at the time. In not having a support system to turn to after receiving her initial diagnosis, she faithfully turned to God (and amazingly had the forethought to consider there must be a purpose to her diagnosis!).

Armed with her faith in God’s capacity to heal her and a deep belief there must be a bigger purpose to her diagnosis, she returned to her next doctor’s appointment with the ability to powerfully state: “I do not receive this diagnosis”. She, then, began following the bread crumb trail of information leading her down an alternative route to healing her cancer where she overhauled her nutrition and removed the chemicals from her home. Four months later a mammogram revealed no cancer! Knowing there was a greater purpose to her diagnosis, she’s dedicated the last nine years to becoming a wellness expert, becoming a certified health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Today she serves as a health coach and leads wellness seminars.

Join Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and Board Member, Tracey Keller, as they sit down with Jerrica Alvarado to hear her incredible story of healing.

Amyloxine Cancer Medication Consultant & SoLive Founder, Charlene Barnes, Shares Her Story

Amyloxine Cancer Medication Consultant & SoLive Founder, Charlene Barnes, Shares Her Story

We’re so excited to share the story behind SoLive in today’s episode with its founder, Charlene Barnes (Charlene also happens to be our Executive Director, Shanna Schulze’s, Mom)! Charlene shares the inspiration behind her passion for health and wellness information (which started decades before this information was considered mainstream) and the ensuing journey it has led her on. A journey that included co-owning Herbal Thyme, a health store in Del Rio, Texas in the early 1990s where one customer’s request to address her cancer diagnosis without chemotherapy, radiation or surgery led Charlene to the unexpected: Dr. Frank Truitt. Dr. Truitt is a medical doctor who was successfully treating cancer, usually at stages three and four, with a medication that did not harm the patient’s healthy cells. This was 1997; nearly 23 years later, her friend and many others who have undergone this treatment are still thriving cancer-free today.

In 2007, Charlene founded SoLive with the original intent to serve as a centralized information hub for informing people that Dr. Truitt’s treatment exists. She originally envisioned that the non-profit would aide Dr. Truitt in his own research (his scope as a scientific researcher expands beyond cancer, especially since he’s already found a medication that successfully addresses cancer).

With time, SoLive’s mission has evolved into an organization fully independent of Dr. Truitt’s Lifeforce Hospital. We have expanded beyond just information about Amyloxine. Instead, SoLive now serves as an educational non-profit which shares information, including informing people about his cancer treatment, Amyloxine, and searching for other medical options that may exist, along with all natural options. We also focus on providing preventative information to help people avoid getting cancer in the first place. Collectively, our mission is to help people live a higher quality of life by aiding them with the best information to support them in their journey.

Join Executive Director, Shanna Schulze, and board member, Shanna Covey, as they chat with Charlene about her journey to becoming a self-taught expert on health and wellness information, working as Patient Consultant for the brilliant Dr. Frank Truitt for the past 22 years, as well as the origin story of the formation of SoLive.

If you’re interested in speaking with Charlene about Dr. Truitt’s treatment, she can be reached at 1 (888) 205-3262. You can also follow Charlene on her "Rock On Ranch" Facebook page (where she shares information about her garden, greenhouse, milk goats, and family)!

Where Does The Authentic You Hide?

Where Does The Authentic You Hide?

Have you noticed you feel freest when have a sense of safety, a comfort and knowing that no matter what you express, those who see it aren’t going to judge you or leave you? Why do we contract in certain situations? Why do we restrict our most natural expression and how can we free ourselves from these constraints? How can we be our most authentic self all the time...not just when outside circumstances offer us safety? Join spiritual author and life coach, Shanna Kay Covey, and Eating Psychology Coach and Personal Trainer, Tracey Keller, as they dive into understanding and healing our compensating behaviors (the ways in which we attempt to feel safe when we’re not coming from an innate sense of safety).

Suggested Resource Mentioned In This Episode:

During the episode Shanna referenced the Enneagram as a useful tool in helping you understand the compensating behaviors associated with your dominant enneagram type. You can find free tests online to help you discover which of the 9 enneagram types you are most likely dominant in. Remember not to get stuck on the online test results as they tend to characterize each type by their negative attributes. The point of understanding your dominant type is to understand the ways in which you are most likely seeking safety outside of yourself. The goal is to become aware of the pattern so you shift where you’re coming from. In healing what is causing the compensating pattern, you learn to come from a true sense of internal safety. When this occurs the compensating pattern is healed/no longer active in you. If you want to better understand how the Enneagram works and the potential for healing it offers, Shanna recommends reading The Sacred Enneagram by Chris Heuertz. She also suggests listening to The Sleeping At Last Podcast for the episode on your dominant type.

You Have The Power to Choose How You See Yourself

You Have The Power to Choose How You See Yourself

More often than not, the way in which we see ourselves is limited to the experiences we’ve had, how people or the world has historically responded to us, what opportunities have come our way, etc. But what if, instead of relying on past data and current circumstances, we flipped this on its head and gained complete power over how we see ourself, what we’re capable of and/or who we need to step into being based on the desires we hold for ourself? What if we consciously chose the energy we embodied based on who we desire to be and how we desire to carry ourselves? This is the power we each individually have and it’s a crucial step to co-creating/manifesting a life in alignment with your desires. Join spiritual author and life coach, Shanna Kay Covey, and Eating Psychology Coach and Personal Trainer, Tracey Keller, as they dive into this topic on this week’s episode.

Suggested Exercise Mentioned In This Episode:

At the beginning of the episode Shanna suggested the following writing exercise to help better understand what your deeper desires are.

Desire Exercise…

Round 1: Out of all the infinite possibilities available to me, what do I want?

Free write for 7 minutes.

Round 2: What do I desire?

Free Write for 7 minutes.

Round 3: What do I truly desire?

Free write for 7 minutes.

Do all three rounds in one sitting and repeat the exercise a few times in one week. Then look back over what you wrote and pull out the desires that kept coming up. Those are your deeper desires and what you can apply to the manifestation processes mentioned in this episode.

Discovering Your Purpose

Discovering Your Purpose

Join life coach, Shanna Kay Covey, and Eating Psychology Coach and Personal Trainer, Tracey Keller as they dive into the power of knowing your purpose and the respective journey that led them to knowing theirs. Shanna shares how she went from working at a Top 5 accounting firm to volunteering in Guatemala for nearly one year to (finally) aligning with her purpose and the major lessons that occurred along the way. Tracey shares how an in depth course on eating psychology completely changed her perspective on health and fitness and how this led to her purpose. This episode encourages you to begin understanding (and questioning) where you’re coming from in your desire to feel better, safe, worthy, deserving, whole and loved because, as Shanna and Tracey discuss, we often go about trying to know these things in ways that never lead to the peaceful state we ultimately crave. This episode is chock full of wisdom and insights that can help you feel more purposeful and peaceful today, not someday when x…y…or z is in place.

Suggested Exercises Mentioned In This Episode:

At the end of the episode Shanna suggested two different meditations to begin tapping into your deeper nature. In the first meditation, she suggested sitting in a quiet space free of distractions for a few minutes and going over the following affirmations (feel free to add additional affirmations that feel good to you) while taking slow, deep breaths…

I am whole and complete.

I am fully worthy and deserving because I am.

I am loving.

I am Love itself.

I am safe.

I am completely perfect as I am.

An alternative meditation (especially once you’re able to feel the inner state these affirmations are pointing to) is to drop into that space of knowing while taking deep, slow breaths for 10 minutes.

From this space of feeling whole and complete and at peace, it’s best to begin asking: What is my purpose? Before you’re in this space, you risk asking what your purpose is from the idea that you are lacking something and that your purpose is an answer to the lack you feel. Your purpose, in its most pure from, is an extension of already being filled up. So do your best to heal the idea that something is missing. Think of purpose as an energy you want to express in the world by simply being it. When you do this you’re being in service to the collective, whether you see a tangible result or not.

The Myth of Selfishness

The Myth of Selfishness

Join Shanna Kay Covey, Shanna Lee Schulze and Tracey Keller as they discuss the myth of selfishness as it relates to taking time for self-care and following the the desires of our hearts. Both are often considered selfish since these endeavors take away time from others. But what if we turned this idea of selfishness on its head? What if we began to see that not prioritizing self-care and not following the desires of hearts was actually the selfish act? In today’s episode we dive head first into this topic and come out the other side understanding how it’s of high service to ourselves, our family, our community and the world to prioritize these things.

In this episode a reference to Dr. Truitt was made. Dr. Frank Truitt is a surgeon and research scientist who developed Amyloxine a safe and effective medication that has been successfully treating most forms of cancer for over 20 years. The Power of Forgiveness

The Power of Forgiveness

Join Shanna Kay Covey, Shanna Lee Schulze and Tracey Keller as they discuss the power of forgiveness. In this conversation they dispel common misperceptions around forgiveness, share how deep forgiveness goes (while giving space for someone to be right where they are in their process without judgment), and show the benefit of forgiveness both from an inner peace and self worth perspective as well as from a bodily health perspective. Forgiveness is critical to reclaiming your inner power and freedom. It frees you from constantly experiencing past pains, makes space for inspiration and creativity and relieves the body of lower frequency emotions and thoughts that affect our wellbeing.
