FREE LIFE TRANSFORMATION EBOOK: by SOBER IS DOPE PODCAST LINK: https://linktr.ee/Soberisdope Full Video Interview: Youtube: https://youtu.be/MVRcKkJhPuk April Hill's Story: As a survivor of early childhood trauma and recovered alcoholic April Hill looks to shatter the stigmas and shame that surround both these experiences. At the ages of 2-5 she was sexually molested, starved, and beaten. After enduring these life altering experiences that many people could not fathom I went on to struggle emotionally in life for quite some time. This truly displayed itself later in adult life through addiction and other toxic relationships, and behaviors. April's purpose now is to be a voice for those suffering. To shed light on abuse, recovery and the journey that it takes to dig through the pain and wreckage they both cause. I believe the veil needs to be lifted on the prevalence of sexual abuse on children as well as sex trafficking. Survivors of abuse deserve a voice and victims need to be helped. In April's podcast she talks about the shame cycles and how it can dictate a survivors life, and how they can break the cycle. Abuse Recovery Success podcast is a tool for those survivors, as well as those with addiction to find themselves, and hear their story being told. We talk about whats going on in the world and how to handle any struggle. To not only move forward but reach our goals and help others.  "It's about taking your life back from your abuser or from the substance that bound you in chains. You find the power that lies deep within you and you shine that light for others to follow. My mission is to bring others to healing, and in turn finding themselves, and living a truly inspired life because of it." - April Hill Contact April Hill: Social Media Links: Instagram: @april_thehills Podcast website : abuserecoverysuccess.com http://abuserecoverysuccess.com

Alcohol Fiend To Sobriety Queen with Connie McMillan (Breaking Generational Curses of Addiction)
Sober is Dope Interviews Connie McMillan the Author of "Alcohol Fiend To Sobriety Queen" 25 Tips To Putting Down The Bottle and Picking Up Your Crown. Contact Connie McMillan: Ig @sobriety_queen_connie Website: https://www.conniesmcmillan.com Connie’s Mission: To help Queens rebuild their lives by healing the pain mask by alcohol abuse to regain their crowns as QUEENS & Live Purpose the way God has always intended it to be. IT ALL STARTED WHEN.... “Every event held inside or outside of my home alcohol was there. It never mattered the occasion good or bad alcohol was always an invited guest. Because of the feeling it gave me I used and abused alcohol for a lot of my adult life. I had a great job making great money, yet I was the women who still never felt good enough unless I was drinking. I could not see how much my life was increasingly spiraling out of control. Whenever difficulties would arise in my life I would turn to the reliable liquid courage to mask my pain and or drown out my sorrows. Finally, in 2014 I decided to take EVERYTHING to God. I honestly expressed, “This substance is going to kill me. I cannot escape it on my own. I need you to help me. Take the taste out of my mouth, my heart and even out of my mind.” God granted my request and removed the desire of alcohol from me. Today, my life is quite different from my life before alcohol abuse. My decisions are better, my health is much better because I stop making excuses and began making adjustments and doing the work. I took back my power and began listening to that small still voice of God and allowed him to heal and empower me. I got sober!” - Connie McMillan Contact Sober is Dope For Podcast FREE LIFE TRANSFORMATION EBOOK: by SOBER IS DOPE PODCAST LINK: https://linktr.ee/Soberisdope Video Produced by POP Buchanan For the Recovery Community. #PayerForHealing #PrayerForProtection #PrayerForAnxiety FREE LIFE TRANSFORMATION EBOOK: by SOBER IS DOPE PODCAST LINK: https://linktr.ee/Soberisdope Hi Everyone. Pawsitively Sober with ZACH SKOW (Founder of Marley's Mutts)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. In this episode we cover topics on Sobriety, Rock Bottom, Recovery, Addiction, Service, 12 Steps, Love, Acceptance, and going back to the basics in recovery. Our special guest and sober superhero is the one and only Zach Skow; Founder of Marley's Mutts. https://www.marleysmutts.org/themanbehindthemutts/   Zach Skow was diagnosed with end stage liver disease in July of 2008. At this point, he didn't care much what that meant, only that he could continue living day to day as he had been-constantly drunk, constantly numb. Zach explains in hindsight that his inebriated state was his baseline-this was his normal, and a necessity to his everyday life. He needed to be drunk to drive, to work, and certainly to interact with other people, especially if those other people were new faces. Without alcohol, he was vulnerable and scared-much like the dogs he now rescues from shelters daily.  When Zach walks into a shelter, he sees himself in the destitute dogs, and they in him. He knows intimately what it is like to feel worthless and unwanted. He felt like a "throwaway human", and to most people, the dogs in the most hard-knock shelters are throwaway dogs. He tells that he had begun a life dedicated to transformation, and the dogs were a parallel existence in which he could find meaning and progress that he often didn't find in himself. And now, these dogs and Zach work together, creating magic out of fear and rejection, lifting each other up and infusing an infinite amount of love into their surroundings wherever they may be.   Zach's ultimate wakeup call came in October 2008, when he resolved to take on life without the crutch of alcohol. The inception of Marley's Mutts coincided with this decision. Through working with the Humane Society, Zach knew that he had a connection with rescue dogs and had fostered several, but he saw a hole in the world of rescue-no one was taking on the really tough cases. The giant Mastiffs, the mangled and mangy mutts, the aggressive and the scared. . . Marley's Mutts would be a home (albeit a temporary one) for these "undesirables." What happened in the process though is that Zach and the Marley's Mutts crew has begun to change the conversation surrounding these types of dogs. They relentlessly educate and inform their followers and fans (350,000 and growing!) to let them know that the dogs are not the problem, but their training and circumstance. The crew at Marley's Mutts provides training resources to dog owners too, to help prevent new problems from arising. Their holistic approach to dog rescue extends even to the community and to their ambitious future goals.   Marley's Mutts has plans to expand their human/ canine programs in which rescued dogs will help to rehabilitate people-prisoners, addicts, the mentally challenged. Zach calls the symbiotic relationship between the people and the dogs a "benevolent mechanism" which he experienced first hand, and plans to focus on and fully utilize in the future of the rescue.  Today, Zach is healthy-he has worked hard to create a lifestyle in which his liver can heal, and his focus on a work of pure service keeps him grounded and connected to a purpose. Zach knows that he owes his life to the dogs, and through Marley's Mutts, he makes good on a daily debt of gratitude that is truly a labor of love and his life's highest calling. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Amy Klein Full Bio: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6979155/bio  Intro Zooland: https://youtu.be/ecUYguN2168

1000 Days Sober with Lee Davy (Holistic, Spiritual, and Personal Development)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode is called 1000 Days Sober with Lee Davy. 1000 Days Sober was founded in 2013 by 1000 Days Sober Podcast host Lee Davy. Lee Davy founded 1000 Days Sober angry and frustrated that he had been hoodwinked into believing alcohol provided him with incredible value. When he realised that it had no value whatsoever, he vowed to help as many people as he could see that truth. What started as a blog about Lee’s experience morphed into a podcast, a course and now a community for people who want to live fulfilled lives as people that don’t drink alcohol. In the beginning, Lee was a one-man team. He has since gathered the best sobriety coaches and created a holistic program focused on spiritual and personal development, person-centred therapy, grief and loss recovery and health and well-being. As the founder of 1000 Days Sober, Lee now serves as the creative driving force behind the program, the voice of the podcast and the leader of the community. He is married to 1000 Days Sober coach Liza Lim, and they have two children, Jude and Zia. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California. When Lee is not helping people see the truth about alcohol he is a writer, producer and content creator in the poker world.  THE 1000 DAYS SOBER EXPERIENCE https://www.1000dayssober.com/

Dr. KJ Foster, PHD Fostering Resilience (POWERLESS TO POWERFUL)
DR. KJ FOSTER, Ph.D. is a Mental Health Expert, Author, Educator, Entrepreneur, Speaker, and YouTube Creator. Dr, Foster celebrated 12 years clean and sober on July, 20th, 2020. In Dr. Foster's own words she describes her powerful transformation.  "Looking at my life today, it's hard to believe that there was a time when I felt totally hopeless and didn't want to live anymore. A time when I couldn't stop drinking. A time when I was also struggling with the overwhelming fear and desperation of having a son addicted to drugs. An addiction that was robbing his very soul, while my addiction was taking over mine. An illness and compulsion that completely takes over the mind, body, and behavior of the sufferer! As I watched my son continue to spiral out of control, slowly killing himself before my very eyes, I felt terrified, overwhelmed, and completely powerless. The truth is... I WAS powerless! Until the day the pain to stay the same became greater than the pain to change. This is where my recovery journey began... with pain! Lots and lots of pain!" When Dr. Foster was 14 months sober, her son began his own journey of recovery.  He is now healthier, stronger, and more powerful than he ever was before the addiction took hold. They both are!!  And it all started with focusing on her own change, and recovery. Since that time, over a decade ago, Dr. Foster went back to school and became a licensed mental health counselor, a certified addiction professional, a specialist in relapse prevention, earned a doctorate in counselor education, and created Fostering Resilience.  Fostering Resilience™ provides programs and resources designed by Dr. KJ Foster to help individuals and their family members overcome anger, anxiety, addiction, substance abuse, codependency, and other self-limiting beliefs and behaviors.  Recovery Changes Everything!   The Fostering Resilience™ program and materials are all based in compassion-focused therapy and relapse prevention techniques.  It includes Dr. KJ Foster's books, this YouTube channel, FREE recovery support meetings for individuals and their family members, and online courses and workshops.  All courses and workshops are eligible for CEU's for students, counselors, and clinicians. Recovery Is Dope with Downtown Billy Brown (Finding Courage, Strength, and Healing)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode is called Recovery is Dope and is intended to give anyone that is addicted to opioids and painkillers some healing perspective. Today’s special guest is a person dear to the Sober is Dope Podcast. Mr. Downtown Billy Brown has a special story of healing, recovery, and honesty. On 7/18/2020 Billy Brown will be celebrating 13 months free from Opioid Pills. Billy has decided to give back to the community by telling his story. Take a look at Billy Brown’s life in his own words: “I’m 54 and started using when I was 8. I got clean for the first time at 16 through church and then after a relapse at 21. I stayed clean through 12 step meetings of which I’ve been a member off and on (when I’m using I duck out) for 33 years. My suburban drug use definitely became opioids because I could function and stay loaded and hide it. All of my years clean and in recovery were always cut off by my reservation that I could take pills without losing my clean time whenever the need arose. But in the end the disease always took me to the same self imposed prison cell of isolation that it always did and I would find myself relapsed and not wanting to tell anyone.” Billy’s Clean Date is 6/18/2019 After finding the strength to get clean and the courage to confront his family, Billy has excelled in his Recovery. According to Billy life is Recovery has been a blast. “Life is amazing right now. Business is so good. Wendy and I are growing closer everyday. I don’t know if you remember it one of my biggest fears about telling her about my using was that she would leave. She never even thought of it. She has supported me the whole way and now we attend meetings together again and have a beautiful group of friends in NA.  The new house is awesome except that if I’m not working the job I’m working on the house haha All of the kids are here. My daughter and son in law came home from the mission field when they found out they were having a baby. My first grandson Pop!! We get to be a part of the whole miraculous process. My younger daughter is engaged and getting married in October and her man is like my son. I gained 30 pounds! My first year of recovery  but now have dropped 15 of them and am headed back down to my “fighting”weight of 160.  We have committed to a new financial plan and have paid all of our debt off, have 6 months of expenses put away in an emergency fund and refinanced our house into a 15 year loan to pay off in 11 with extra payments each year I’m of service to NA with a couple of meeting commitments and serve at church also Just a little info on what’s happening and to let you know that things are going good”.

Calling My Spirit Back with Elaine Alec (Healing of Indigenous/First Nations Communities)
Meet Elaine Alec wáy x̌ast sx̌əlx̌ʕált My name is telxnitkw, it translates into “Standing by Water” and was given to me on the day I was born. I am Syilx and Secwepemc although I also have roots with the Colville and Nez Perce nations. Elaine Alec (she/her) is an author, political advisor, women’s advocate and spiritual thought leader and teacher and is a direct descendant of hereditary chiefs, Pelkamulaxw and Soorimpt. For over two decades, Elaine has been leading expert in Indigenous community planning, health advocacy and creating safe spaces utilizing Indigenous approaches and ceremony. She is the author of “Calling My Spirit Back” a book which links an extremely personal examination of lived experience to a much broader overview of serious national sociological concerns, accompanied by tangible steps to approach them. Alec was a founding member of the Comprehensive Community Planning Mentorship Initiative in British Columbia. She is a founding partner at Alderhill Planning Inc. and is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops on the topic of Indigenous planning, governance, healing and trauma informed approaches in planning. She is involved in the Sexual Harassment, Advice, Response and Prevention for Work Places Advisory Committee, a board member with the Canadian Centre of Policy Alternatives (CCPA-BC) and recently completed a 3-year term as the Union of BC Indian Chiefs Women’s Representative where she advocated for Indigenous women and girls safety through facilitating safe spaces to plan and drive policy change at various levels of government. Elaine resides in Kamloops, British Columbia with her husband Ryan Day and is the proud mom of Kyle Maxakn Alec, Phoenix Maxaknitkw Alec and Teslin Pelkamulaxw Alec. Calling My Spirit Back is an exceptional piece of Canadian writing by an Indigenous author that addresses our particular period in Canadian history when the conversations about systemic racism and abuse of women and the historical and ongoing trauma of our First Nations are finally starting to resonate beyond their typical boundaries. This book is welcome and much needed contribution to that dialogue, not only in its vivid details but in its approach to healing. It is a truly moving work that links an extremely personal examination of lived experience – told with startling honest and precision – to a much broader overview of serious national sociological concerns, accompanied by tangible steps to create spaces for diversity and inclusion based on Indigenous knowledge and teachings. Her honesty is authentic and at times heartbreaking and her candor regarding the ownership of her own failings as she faces her challenges is rare and vivid. Calling My Spirit Back is Elaine’s first book. She is a partner and owner with Alderhill Planning Inc. and works with Indigenous communities across Canada to promote healing in planning, governance and. Elaine shares much of her work on her YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/elainealec and her website www.elainealec.com and her social media accounts www.instagram.com/elaine_alec_writer_speaker and www.facebook.com/elainemackensiealec Calling My Spirit Back is published by Tellwell Talent (June 27 2020) Available: www.elainelaec.com. This applies to both men and women. This episode puts a strong emphasis on men, but this is intended for everyone. The Best Foods for Recovering Alcoholics (Nutrition And Health Tips inspired by Dr. Eric Berg)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode is inspired by a lecture from Dr. Eric Berg about The Best Foods for a Recovering Alcoholic. This episode is extremely informative. For more information from Dr. Eric Berg, see links below. Enjoy The Best Foods for a Recovering Alcoholic https://youtu.be/T4qLZzjIq-k Are you a recovering alcoholic? This may really help.  Find Out More at drberg.com:  http://bit.ly/2RFX7p3 Intermittent Fasting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dHcT... Prolonged Fasting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EX_kg... Timestamps  0:06 What health issues are a recovering alcoholic dealing with? 0:18 The best foods for a recovering alcoholic 3:13 Intermittent fasting and periodic fasting  4:04 Kombucha tea 4:35 Taking it to the next level In this lecture, we’re going to talk about the best foods for a recovering alcoholic.  What health issues are a recovering alcoholic most likely dealing with? • Liver damage  • Inflammation • Cirrhosis  • Nutritional deficiencies  The best foods for a recovering alcoholic: 1. Cruciferous vegetables  2. Shellfish  3. Sunflower seeds/nutritional yeast  4. Fish—omega 3 fatty acids 5. Large salads  A recovering alcoholic should also try doing intermittent fasting (1-2 meals a day) as well as periodic fasting. You want to do intermittent fasting to create autophagy, which will clean up old damaged proteins and turn them into healthy new amino acids. This happens roughly around 18 hours a day of fasting. Periodic fasting will also help speed up your results.  Kombucha tea is a really good substitute for beer or wine. Just be sure it’s the one with the lowest amount of sugar. It’s similar to alcohol in that it can help you feel more relaxed and calm. It does have a very small amount of alcohol, but it’s an insignificant amount that should not cause problems.  If you're a recovering alcoholic and you want to take this to the next level, you may want to try these nutrients: • Cysteine  • Glycine  • Glutamine  • NAC • Vitamin C • Zinc  • B-vitamins • Milk thistle  Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 53 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. How to lower Cortisol Levels (Naturally Reduce Stress Hormones in Recovery)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode talks about how to lower the stress hormone “Cortisol”. This episode is inspired by Dr. Eric Berg. Dr. Berg Not sure how to lower cortisol levels? Watch this short video to find out. https://youtu.be/L2fKo_dbXS0 Find Out More at drberg.com:  https://www.drberg.com/blog  Timestamps: 0:00 What is cortisol? 0:34 How growth hormone affects cortisol 1:28 Insulin-like growth hormone and cortisol 2:27 How to lower cortisol with vitamin D 3:42 Why walking helps lower cortisol 3:52 How to lower cortisol with acupressure 4:07 Vital nutrients for regulating cortisol In this lecture, we’re going to talk about how you can lower your cortisol. Cortisol is a destructive stress hormone. It makes a lot of belly fat and can cause problems throughout the body when your levels are too high. There’s a lot of confusion about this hormone and how to lower cortisol—let me help clear up the confusion. The adrenal glands are responsible for creating cortisol. Your adrenals are located in your abdomen right on top of your kidneys. The adrenals react to stress. That’s why cortisol is often referred to as the “stress hormone.” As you age, the hormone that keeps cortisol in check begins to decline. This hormone is called growth hormone (GH). This allows your cortisol levels to skyrocket. The key is to help increase your growth hormone naturally. The best way to do this is to get good sleep or get more sleep. Insulin-like growth hormone (IGF) is very similar to growth hormone. This hormone can help regulate your cortisol level. You can increase this hormone by fasting and getting plenty of sleep. Vitamin D and sunlight can also help lower your cortisol levels. You need regular sun exposure to get plenty of vitamin D. Walking helps reduce your stress levels, which can lower your cortisol. I recommend walking daily. You can do acupressure to help pull stress out of the body. And finally, potassium, vitamin B1, and calcium and fantastic nutrients for regulating cortisol. Do you pretend that everything is good when it really isn’t? When you don’t have a positive and healthy way of dealing with your trauma, you end up repressing your negative emotions. Comorbid Drug Addiction: How a dual diagnosis and integrated treatment plan benefits the addict!
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode breaks down Comorbidity and Drug Addiction. Is drug addiction a mental illness? Yes. Addiction changes the brain in fundamental ways, changing a person’s normal needs and desires and replacing them with new priorities connected with seeking and using the drug. This results in compulsive behaviors that weaken the ability to control impulses, despite the negative consequences, and are similar to hallmarks of other mental illnesses. Comorbid Alcoholism: How a dual diagnosis and integrated treatment plan benefits the addict!
Comorbid Alcoholism and Addiction: How a dual diagnosis and integrated treatment plan benefits the addict! Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode breaks down Comorbidity and Alcoholism. People with alcohol use disorders often have co–occurring psychiatric disorders, but they frequently do not receive specialized substance abuse treatment that addresses both conditions. Although pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for alcohol use disorders and psychiatric disorders can be integrated to help these patients, relatively few clinical studies have tested these types of treatments. As mental health and substance abuse facilities expand their services for patients with dual disorders, further research is needed to guide the treatment of this patient population. THE SAD ADDICT Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Depression, and Addiction.
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode talks about the connection between Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), alcoholism and drug addiction. Seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, is a form of depression that affects some people at about the same time each year, usually beginning in the late fall or early winter and dissipating in the spring or summer. SAD is associated with biochemical brain changes that occur with decreased sunlight and changes to a person’s internal clock (also known as their circadian rhythm). The Relationship between SAD and Substance Abuse When the dark days come, and the symptoms of SAD present themselves, some people may self-medicate with substances. A lack of energy may cause some to turn to stimulants. Others may seek to numb the pain of depression with drugs like opioids or alcohol. Research has shown that some individuals with alcoholism misuse alcohol seasonally, so they may be self-medicating SAD. Approximately 50% of all people who struggle with a mental health disorder will also experience a substance use disorder at some point. Self-medicating with substances may lead to addiction. Additionally, the use of alcohol and drugs may worsen the symptoms of SAD, so while self-medicating may feel like it’s effective in the moment, it may worsen depressive symptoms overall and set the person on a path to a substance use disorder. Per the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, about 20% of Americans with an anxiety or mood disorder, such as SAD, also struggle with a substance use disorder, and vice versa. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, approximately 50% of all people who struggle with a mental health disorder will also experience a substance use disorder at some point. How Fortunate the Man with None (The Book of Job) Finding Faith at Rock Bottom
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode is about faith, an not losing hope when things fall apart. Inspired by the Book of Job, this short episode calls us to learn from our Rock Bottom experiences. Thank to to Alan Smith from Bible Hub for your summary of the Book of Job, and Dead can Dance for this amazing song. Summary of the Book of Job https://biblehub.com/summary/job/1.htm How Fortunate the Man with None By Dead can Dance https://youtu.be/E2IVCyFt2Os Lyrics You saw sagacious Solomon You know what came of him To him, complexities seemed plain He cursed the hour that gave birth to him And saw that everything was vain How great and wise was Solomon The world, however, did not wait But soon observed what followed on It's wisdom that had brought him to this state How fortunate the man with none You saw courageous Caesar next You know what he became They deified him in his life Then had him murdered just the same And as they raised the fatal knife How loud he cried "you too my son!" The world, however, did not wait But soon observed what followed on It's courage that had brought him to that state How fortunate the man with none You heard of honest Socrates The man who never lied They weren't so grateful as you'd think Instead the rulers fixed to have him tried And handed him the poisoned drink How honest was the people's noble son The world, however, did not wait But soon observed what followed on It's honesty that brought him to that state How fortunate the man with none Here you can see respectable folk Keeping to God's own laws So far he hasn't taken heed You who sit safe and warm indoors Help to relieve out bitter need How virtuously we had begun The world, however, did not wait But soon observed what followed on It's fear of God that brought us to that state How fortunate the man with none

Sacred Whale Songs Healing Power of Whale Songs Relaxation/Deep Sleep/Consciousness Activation
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP BBuchanan. This episode takes on a journey of sacred Whale Songs and Sounds. These Sacred sings can act as music therapy for humans and aid in relaxation, deeper sleep, and comsiouneness awakening. Two groups of whales, the humpback whale and the subspecies of blue whale found in the Indian Ocean, are known to produce a series of repetitious sounds at varying frequencies known as whale song. Marine biologist Philip Clapham describes the song as "probably the most complex in the animal kingdom."[24] Male humpback whales perform these vocalizations often during the mating season, and so it is believed the purpose of songs is to aid mate selection.[8] Interest in whale song was aroused by researchers Roger Payne and Scott McVay after the songs were brought to their attention by a Bermudian named Frank Watlington who was working for the US government at the SOFAR station listening for Russian submarines with underwater hydrophones off the coast of the island.[25] Payne released the best-selling Songs of the Humpback Whale in 1970, and the whale songs were quickly incorporated into human music by, among others, singer Judy Collins. The songs follow a distinct hierarchical structure. The base units of the song (sometimes loosely called the "notes") are single uninterrupted emissions of sound that last up to a few seconds. These sounds vary in frequency from 20 Hz to upward of 24 kHz (the typical human range of hearing is 20 Hz to 20 kHz). The units may be frequency modulated (i.e., the pitch of the sound may go up, down, or stay the same during the note) or amplitude modulated (get louder or quieter). However, the adjustment of bandwidth on a spectrogram representation of the song reveals the essentially pulsed nature of the FM sounds. A collection of four or six units is known as a sub-phrase, lasting perhaps ten seconds (see also phrase (music)).[8] A collection of two sub-phrases is a phrase. A whale will typically repeat the same phrase over and over for two to four minutes. This is known as a theme. A collection of themes is known as a song.[8] The whale song will last up to 30 or so minutes, and will be repeated over and over again over the course of hours or even days.[8] This "Russian doll" hierarchy of sounds suggests a syntactic structure[26] that is more human-like in its complexity than other forms of animal communication like bird songs, which have only linear structure.[27] All the whales in an area sing virtually the same song at any point in time and the song is constantly and slowly evolving over time.[citation needed] For example, over the course of a month a particular unit that started as an upsweep (increasing in frequency) might slowly flatten to become a constant note.[8] Another unit may get steadily louder. The pace of evolution of a whale's song also changes—some years the song may change quite rapidly, whereas in other years little variation may be recorded.[8] The Healing Power of the Whales’ Song By Chip Richards https://upliftconnect.com/healing-power-whales-song/ Whale Songs For Calm And Dreamy Sleep By Art Wolfe https://improvisedlife.com/2017/04/11/whale-songs-for-calm-and-dreamy-sleep/ Whale Songs By Oceania Project https://youtu.be/WabT1L-nN-E

PSA by Tara Laplante ”Do the Right Thing” 💯 (Drug Overdose/NARCAN/Good Samaritan)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This is a Public Service Announcement by Tara Laplante. Tara is an activist, and survivor. Her story is deep. This PSA is a call to action for dealers to stop lacing drugs with poison, and for addicts to think twice before they use some drugs that may be tainted. This PSA also asks for us to do the right thing and report overdoses. By calling the authorities and ambulance when someone OD can be the difference between life and death. Lastly, under the Good Samaritan Act persons reporting an Overdose are protected from self-incrimination. Please make sure you guys have access to NARCAN and Naloxone. Full PSA by Tara Laplante ”Ignorance got people producing or altering lethal dope. & Disrespect got people knowing or unknowingly serving that to the communities. like it isnt bad enough people are dieing from violence. Shit i had people bring me bad shit and when i refused cause of instinct, they O.D infront of me, ya well i called that shit in. did the right thing and i know for a fact if that was me they would have left me there. During the overdose's of 2 people infront of me the apt was filled w chaos and panic. "friends" of the two people suggesting to me we drag the bodies into the hall way and bounce call it in from another location. someone attempting CPR and all i could do was think about why i didnt do a bump i was a junkie at the time woulda never said no... regardless i called it in and saved two fucken lives. when people come to u with ill intent and bad vibes two wrongs dont make a right. There is always a time to do the right thing! - i can still remember what it felt like watching 2 people i dont even know turn purple infront of me while everyone runs out of the house , in the distance the ambulance and police sirens getting closer and closer but it seemed like forever until they got there. after everyone was removed from the apt, i just sat there staring at my hands... thinking holy fuck that coulda been me. i would have been dead and not one fucken person would have done anything probably would have left me there. . . . it is a good scare tactic though.. Hoping everyone Stays Careful out there. Narcan/Naloxone is available from any pharmacy for FREE no questions asked for all First Nations & Inuit covered by NON INSURED. all u need is ur health card and status number. (they should have it on file) also, remember the good samaritain act protects all individuals seeking help for a drug overdose. Call that shit on, you could be saving somebodys kids, dad, mom , daughter , auntie, uncle etc.” - Tara Laplante

The Cross and The Switchblade Message to A Lost Generation (Church) By Pastor David Wilkerson 🙏🏽
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. This episode is dedicated to the late Pastor David Ray Wilkerson. David Ray Wilkerson was an American Christian evangelist, best known for his book The Cross and the Switchblade. He was the founder of the addiction recovery program Teen Challenge, and founding pastor of the non-denominational Times Square Church in New York City. David Wilkerson was known to a broad readership through his many books. His most famous, “The Cross and the Switchblade” (1963), chronicled his ministry among gang members in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, where he had arrived as a young preacher in the late 1950s. Written with John and Elizabeth Sherrill, the book has sold tens of millions of copies and has been translated into more than 30 languages, according to its current publisher, Chosen Books. “The Cross and the Switchblade” was made into a feature film of that name, released in 1970. It starred Pat Boone as Mr. Wilkerson and Erik Estrada, in his first film appearance, as a member. Mr. Wilkerson was also widely known for his work with teenage drug addicts. He was the founder of what is now Teen Challenge International, begun in Brooklyn in 1958. The organization comprises about 200 religion-based residential drug treatment centers throughout the country and many overseas. Through World Challenge, the umbrella organization for his ministerial activities, based in Lindale, Tex., Mr. Wilkerson founded the Times Square Church in 1987. Originally in Town Hall on West 43rd Street, it now occupies the former Mark Hellinger Theater, an ornate palace of lavish moldings and draperies at 217 West 51st Street, near Broadway. The Times Square Church is a nondenominational Protestant church whose worship style draws on the Pentecostal tradition. Services typically include gospel singing and the opportunity for congregants to approach the stage for healing and salvation. Bipolar Disorder - Manic Episodes and Recovery! (Mental Health Series)
Welcome to the Sober is Dope Podcast with your host, POP Buchanan. In this episode, we take a deep look at Manic Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and addiction. Thank you, Dr. Tracey Marks, for this amazing information and videos. Download your free Bipolar packet here- http://markspsychiatry.com/manage-bipolar The symptoms of mania include elevated mood, inflated self-esteem, decreased need for sleep, racing thoughts, difficulty maintaining attention, increase in goal-directed activity, and excessive involvement in pleasurable activities. These manic symptoms significantly impact a person's daily living. What is a manic episode? A manic episode is not a disorder in and of itself, but rather is diagnosed as a part of a condition called bipolar disorder. A manic episode is an emotional state characterized by a period of at least one week where an elevated, expansive, or unusually irritable mood exists. A person experiencing a manic episode is usually engaged in significant goal-directed activity beyond their normal activities. People describe a manic mood as feeling very euphoric, “on top of the world,” and being able to do or accomplish anything. The feeling is like extreme optimism — but on steroids. Sometimes the manic mood is more irritable than it is elevated, especially if the person’s wishes are curtailed or denied altogether. Often a person in the midst of mania will engage in multiple projects at the same time, with little premeditation or thought to go into them, and finishing none of them. They may work on these projects at all hours of the day, with little regard for sleep or rest. A person’s change in mood is typically associated with manic symptoms that should be observable by others (e.g., friends or relatives of the individual) and must be uncharacteristic of the individual’s usual state or behavior. In other words, they’re acting in a way that isn’t typical of themselves, and other people recognize it. The manic feelings the person experiences should be severe enough to cause difficulty or impairment in their ability to function at work, with friends or family, at school, or other important areas in their life. Symptoms also cannot be the result of substance use or abuse (e.g., alcohol, drugs, medications) or caused by a general medical condition. Bipolar disorder can be treated, usually with a combination of medications (called mood stabilizers) and psychotherapy. Specific Symptoms of a Manic Episode In order for a manic episode to be diagnosed, three (3) or more of the following symptoms must be present: * Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity * Decreased need for sleep (e.g., one feels rested after only 3 hours of sleep) * More talkative than usual or pressure to keep talking * Flight of ideas or subjective experience that thoughts are racing * Attention is easily drawn to unimportant or irrelevant items * Increase in goal-directed activity (either socially, at work or school; or sexually) or psychomotor agitation * Excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that have a high potential for painful consequences (e.g., engaging in unrestrained buying sprees, sexual indiscretions, or foolish business investments) Thank you, Dr. Tracey Marks, for the informative videos. https://youtu.be/awPP5YrVGyY Fair Use Disclaimer: This podcast is for Educational/Motivational/Inspirational purposes only!! **FAIR USE** Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education, and research. -This podcast/content has no negative impact on the original works (It would actually be positive for them) -This podcast/content is also for teaching purposes. -It is not transformative in nature. -I only used bits and pieces of videos to get the point across where necessary.
