Why It Took Jesus Three Days To Rise From The Dead - Part 4 of 7

Why It Took Jesus Three Days To Rise From The Dead - Part 4 of 7

Jesus is God. If that statement is true, why did it take Him 3 days to rise from the dead? He is God and could have risen immediately. Or he could have survived the crucifixion. That would have been amazing and unheard of. It definitely would have gone down in history.

There are a few reasons why Jesus allowed His earthly body to remain dead for three days. One of them is due to the fact that once a person was dead for three days, everyone knew, and accepted that the person was not coming back. They weren't sleeping, in a coma, passed out, et cetera. That person was 3-days-dead. They were dead, dead.

Beyond that "earthly" reason, there were some spiritual reasons Jesus took three days to rise. What are they? Tune in to this week's sermon to find out!

Purgatory Is Based On A Real Place In The Bible - Part 3 of 7

Purgatory Is Based On A Real Place In The Bible - Part 3 of 7

What is Purgatory? Well, it is a place in the afterlife where people are believed to go while they wait for people to pray them into heaven. Think of it like a transportation center. An airport, train station, bus stop, et cetera. Basically, purgatory is thought to be a place where you're waiting to see if you qualify to get into heaven. If you don't then you're sent to hell.

Sound ridiculous? Believe it or not, the idea of purgatory is based on a real place and is in the Bible. However, the term purgatory isn't in the Bible and the idea of purgatory we have today is not biblically true.

What is purgatory? Join us for this week's sermon as we examine the concept of a waiting place after death. A place between heaven and hell where people went before they were brought into heaven or condemned to hell.

The Eternal Prison Called Hell Is Empty - Part 2 of 7

The Eternal Prison Called Hell Is Empty - Part 2 of 7

Last week you learned more about many of the different terms that the Bible uses to discuss Hell. It is a real place and a state of being that you never want to experience.

It may surprise you to learn that the place we traditionally think of as Hell, the final place of eternal torment, is actually empty. Hell was made as a final prison for Satan, all of the fallen angels, and everyone who rejects God and wishes to join them.

Until the final day of judgment, Hell is empty. If Hell is empty, then where are people going who die and don't believe in Jesus? They are in part of the realm of the dead!

Specifically, they are in a waiting place or torment that we will discuss next week!

Hell Sheol Hades Tartarus Gehenna The Pit The Grave - Part 1 of 7

Hell Sheol Hades Tartarus Gehenna The Pit The Grave - Part 1 of 7

The Bible uses a lot of different terms to describe Hell. ‘Sheol’, ‘Hades’, ‘Tartarus’, ‘Gehenna’, ‘The Pit’, ‘The Grave,’ ‘The Place of Eternal Suffering or Torment’, ‘Everlasting Destruction,’ ‘Lake of Fire’, and more.

How do you know what term is Hell and what may be something else? And what is Hell?

You need to understand that it is a real place. Not only is it a place, it is a state of being.

Watch this sermon and stay tuned for the rest of the sermon series called “The Resurrection - Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory”, and you will learn all about Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and the role of the Ressurection when it comes to these places.

Throughout the Bible, it's described as a place of eternal torment and suffering. And while it may not be a popular topic to discuss, we cannot ignore the reality of its existence.

But there is hope. We have been given the opportunity to avoid this fate through faith in Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for our sins so that we could be forgiven and spend eternity with Him in heaven.

Don't wait until it's too late. Take action now and accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior. Don't risk spending an eternity separated from God in hell when you can experience His love, grace, and mercy forevermore.

You Need To Respect Authority Even If You Disagree

You Need To Respect Authority Even If You Disagree

God wants you to respect authority. From the government to your parents, all authority figures have been put in place by God for a reason. It is important that we show respect and obedience toward them.

By respecting authority, you are not only following God's commandments but also setting an example for others around you. Your actions can inspire those who may be struggling with their own relationships with authority figures.

Furthermore, showing respect toward those in positions of power can lead to positive outcomes in your life. You may receive better opportunities or even blessings from God as a result of your obedience.

Remember that disrespecting authority ultimately disrespects God himself. Therefore, strive to honor and obey those whom He has placed over you, knowing that it is pleasing unto Him and will bring about good things in your life.

What Do You Do When Things Go Wrong In Your Life

What Do You Do When Things Go Wrong In Your Life

When things go wrong in your life you can choose how to react. You can be angry or you can accept it and move on.

God has a plan for each and every one of you, and it's up to you to follow that path. When you choose anger or bitterness in the face of adversity, you are straying from God's will.

Instead of reacting in anger or complaining, choose faith and trust in His plan. Embrace the challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Be grateful for all that you have been given, even when things don't go according to your own plan.

By choosing this mindset, not only do you honor God's will but also set yourself up for success in all aspects of life - relationships, career goals, or personal development.

Therefore, when things go wrong, make a choice that aligns with your faith and values. Choose acceptance over anger; choose gratitude over bitterness; choose love over hate – because these choices lead toward living an abundant life full of joy!

Sin Lives In You Do Not Give In To The Desires Of The Flesh

Sin Lives In You Do Not Give In To The Desires Of The Flesh

Sin lives in the world. You are born of this world. Therefore, sin lives in you.

But you don't have to let it control you. You have the power to overcome sin and live a life of righteousness. It's time to take action and make a change.

Don't let temptation lead you down the wrong path any longer. Choose instead to follow in the footsteps of those who came before us, living lives that were pleasing in God's eyes.

You are capable of greatness, but only if you choose to embrace your true potential as a child of God. So why wait? Start today by making small changes that will lead to bigger victories over sin tomorrow.

Remember: every step counts when it comes to defeating sin in your life!

Be Humble Do Good In Secret And Let Your Reward Come From Above

Be Humble Do Good In Secret And Let Your Reward Come From Above

God wants you to do good in secret. This is a powerful message that we should all take to heart. It's easy to get caught up in the desire for recognition and praise, but true goodness comes from doing good deeds without seeking any reward or acknowledgment.

Think about it - when you do something kind for someone else, are you doing it because you genuinely want to help them or because you want others to see how generous and selfless you are? If your motivation is the latter, then perhaps it's time to re-evaluate why exactly you're performing these acts of kindness.

When you do good in secret, this shows your sincerity and humility toward helping others and also helps you grow as an individual. You learn that your actions have an impact beyond yourself; they can make a difference in other people's lives even if no one knows about them except God.

Therefore, strive to be better by following God's teachings and do good in secret. Focus on being kinder, more compassionate people who seek out opportunities for service without expecting anything in return.

Living this way consistently will lead you down a path of fulfillment and purpose knowing that you made positive changes within yourself while making meaningful contributions toward society at large!

Take Time To Listen To God He Is Already Speaking To You

Take Time To Listen To God He Is Already Speaking To You

Every day you need to make time to listen to God. He is speaking to you all day long. If you're not hearing it, then you're not listening. Or you're listening to the wrong things.

God will speak to you more when you are close to Him. As you grow in your relationship with Jesus you will get to know and understand Him better. Then you'll learn how to hear God.

Yes, it's something you must practice. You need to focus. This is why you must MAKE time to do it. It's not simply going to happen. Especially when you have a thousand other things going on. Therefore, make time to listen to God.

Always Pray About Anything And Everything God Wants To Hear From You

You are a child of God and God is the best father. Therefore, He wants to hear from you. He wants you to always pray and ask for anything and everything. In addition, God wants to give it to you! He wants to give you even more than you are asking for.

Why doesn't He? You may not be ready. Remember, God is the best parent. Good parents don't put their children in situations they are not ready to handle. Therefore, God will not either.

Still, you need to always pray and be talking to God all day long. He wants to hear from you. Speak to God about your needs, your day, your happiness, other people, et cetera. He is your father and loves it when you talk to Him.

When You Pray Use The Gethsemane Prayer Like Jesus Did

Jesus taught us how to pray on many occasions. Unfortunately, we often fail to apply His teachings to our lives. One method of prayer we need to apply is called the Gethsemane prayer.

This type of praying is a format for us to follow. Jesus provided it for us on the night He was betrayed. He was going through a very tough time and He was in great anguish.

We go through tough times here on earth and if this was the prayer that Jesus used during His hardship, then we should be using it as well.

Always Remember WWJD In Everything You Do What Would Jesus Do

WWJD is a popular acronym that many people know. The idea behind it is that anytime you encounter a situation, you are to ask yourself, What Would Jesus Do? Then, that is what you are supposed to do.

Although this seems like a very simple concept, it is incredibly difficult. Remembering to think WWJD in the heat of the moment can be tough. In addition, Doing WWJD is even harder.

I challenge you to try to make it a part of your life. Constantly be thinking about what Jesus would do in a situation. Then, try to do it.

Be Your Own Person Do Not Be Swayed By Others

As you start this new year it is important to remember who you are and who God made you to be. You need to be your own person. Don't let other people sway you back and forth like a ship being tossed about by the waves or like the grass in the wind.

Instead, stand firm. Be the person God created you to be. Be yourself. Everyone else is taken. God made you exactly the way you are. That is who you are supposed to be. Therefore, make sure you are following His plan for your life rather than someone else's plan.

Be Inspired By The Twelve Apostles Part 14 of 14

I really hope you've enjoyed learning about the Twelve Apostles and that you can be inspired by them. Allow their lives to be an example for you to follow. In addition, please share them with others. Teach other people about who they were and what they did.

After all, some people may be able to identify and relate to them. They may relate to one apostle more than another. If that happens, then they can use that apostle to help shape and influence their own life. Hopefully, this will help them to be more like Jesus.

Therefore, make an effort to know about and remember these great men. Talk about them with other people and treat them as if they are your friends. One day, when you meet them in heaven it will be like a long-lost reunion.

Judas Iscariot The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 13 of 14

Judas Iscariot The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 13 of 14

Today you will learn more about Judas Iscariot. You've probably heard of him and recognize him to be the disciple that betrayed Jesus. However, there is more to his story.

Judas Iscariot was an excellent disciple. Yes, he ended up betraying Jesus but that is because he allowed Satan to take control of him. Judas was consumed by greed. He was a man of finance and loved money. It was that love of money that ended up being his downfall.

Allow Judas to be an example for you of what not to do. Remember to be fully devoted to God. Do not love money or the things of this world. Recognize that they are tools for you to use to build a heavenly kingdom. Stand firm in your faith and do not allow Satan to enter your life. Not even for a second!

Simon The Zealot The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 12 of 14

Simon The Zealot The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 12 of 14

Simon the Zealot is another apostle with a title. His title of being a Zealot is used to differentiate him from all of the other Simons in the Bible. In addition, it could also be part of his identity.

As a traditional Zealot, he would have been a devout follower of Jewish law. He would have hated tax collectors, sinners, and the Roman rule. He would have been a radical rebel. It's possible that his zeal for the rebellion turned into a zeal for Jesus once he became an apostle.

In any case, Simon the Zealot was a passionate man who wholeheartedly devoted himself to whatever cause he believed in. Allow this to be an example in your life and live your passion to the fullest.

Judas Thaddaeus The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 11 of 14

Judas Thaddaeus The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 11 of 14

Judas Thaddaeus is not to be confused with Judas Iscariot. In fact, he is also known as Jude or Thaddaeus to help distinguish him. Jude was a disciple who had in mind the things of the world. He couldn't grasp the spiritual realm.

Fortunately for us, we have something Jude didn't have. We have the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we are able to understand and interact within the spiritual realm. We also have many examples throughout the New Testament.

Allow Judas Thaddaeus to serve as an example for your faith. Remember to look beyond the things of this world. Store up and build heavenly treasure. Use the things in this world as tools for working within the spiritual realm and always keep the heavenly kingdom in mind.

James The Lesser The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 10 of 14

James The Lesser The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 10 of 14

Today you'll learn about James the Lesser, also known as James the Younger. This isn't because he was less than the others. It is simply a title given to him to separate him from all the other James' in the Bible.

The Bible rarely mentions him but we know that he was probably an ambitious person. In addition, he was most likely educated and there is a good chance he was an accomplished sinner before Jesus called him. James the Lesser experienced a change of heart and became willing to follow Jesus anywhere Christ led him.

Let that be an example for you. Be willing to change your heart and follow Jesus wherever He may lead you.

Matthew The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 9 of 14

Matthew The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 9 of 14

Matthew, also known as Levi, was a tax collector. Although this may not be a big deal in today's society, back then it was a problem. Tax collectors were hated. They were notorious for receiving other people's money and lending it out at high-interest rates to make a profit for themselves. Kind of like credit card companies.

Jesus called Matthew. A sinner. A tax collector. The lowest of the low. This means that Jesus wants everyone. Even those who believe they have done too many wrongs to be forgiven. Jesus wants you. Allow Matthew to inspire you to get up and follow Jesus no matter what you've done.

Thomas The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 8 of 14

Thomas The Twelve Apostles Sermon Series Part 8 of 14

You've probably heard of Thomas before. Probably due to the saying "Doubting Thomas." It's unfortunate that Thomas is known as the doubter. However, it can serve to teach us a valuable lesson today.

Thomas was someone who needed to see something in order to believe it. He needed all the facts and evidence. He was a skeptic by nature. Still, he was eventually able to overcome skepticism and live by faith in Jesus.

Use Thomas as an example of what not to do. Allow his doubt to strengthen your faith. Be filled with faith and take those steps in faith to do things that you never imagined possible!

Today you will learn about Bartholomew, who was also known as Nathanael. He isn't mentioned very many times in the Bible but we can still learn a lot about who he was by digging deeper into the text.

We know that Bartholomew was a devoted follower of Christ who preached until the very end. He traveled with companions and was a studious person. He was dedicated to sharing the Bible with parts of the world that didn't have it.

Be inspired by Bartholomew and let his desire to share Jesus fuel your life. Get out there and share the Bible with as many people in as many places as possible. Perhaps even by traveling to unreached nations!

Are You A Child Of The Devil Or A Child Of God? Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 4 of 4

Are You A Child Of The Devil Or A Child Of God? Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 4 of 4

The question is simple. Are you a child of the devil or a child of God? Hopefully, you are a child of God. However, are you behaving like a child of God should behave? That answer may be more difficult.

If you are a child of God then you need to be fully committed to God. You must be devoted. You need to live your life serving God in everything you do. That doesn't mean you need to give up everything and travel around the world preaching the Bible.

It means you need to have a heart for Christ. You need to be willing to do whatever God wants you to do. You need to know in your heart that what you do, you are doing for God. No matter what it is. You also need to be willing to give it all up for God. It doesn't mean you'll have to. But you need to be willing.

God must be the only thing you'll never give up.

God Is Jealous Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 3 of 4

God Is Jealous Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 3 of 4

If you are a Christian then God is jealous for your love and devotion. The Holy Spirit within you longs to be with God. That means you need to be connected to God. You need to be feeding the Holy Spirit within you. God must be your first priority.

God is not jealous in that He wants something you have. No, He already has everything. He wants you to remain connected to Him. If you've made the decision to follow Christ then you need to remain in Christ and Christ will remain in you. If you begin to pull away, then God will be jealous because you are no longer fully devoted to Him.

You Can Only Have One Master Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 2 of 4

You Can Only Have One Master Who Do You Serve Sermon Series Part 2 of 4

Despite what people choose to believe, humans can only focus on one thing. We cannot multi-task or have loyalty to two places. Whether it's work, friends, events, et cetera. No matter what it is, we always end up with one taking priority over the other.

God knows this, which is why we are commanded to only have one master. That master needs to be God. We need to be fully committed to serving Him and Him alone. Yes, we can do other things, but it all needs to be in devotion to God. We must constantly recognize that everything comes from God and be thankful for that.

Be Fruitful And Multiply Share Jesus And Fill The Earth With More Believers

Be Fruitful And Multiply Share Jesus And Fill The Earth With More Believers

God wants you to get out there to be fruitful and multiply. That doesn't only mean having children. It means expanding the Kingdom of God. You need to give birth to spiritual children by helping them become born again. In addition, be sure you raise your biological children according to the Bible and be a great mentor and example for all of those around you.

Millions of people out there need Jesus and it's up to you to make the introduction. Don't be afraid to share Jesus. It's a calling on your life. As Christians, we are called to lead others to Jesus. Follow and live that calling.

Fight Temptation With Scripture As Jesus Did And The Devil Will Flee From You

Fight Temptation With Scripture As Jesus Did And The Devil Will Flee From You

When you are tempted you need to fight back. Remember, God is allowing something in your life. There is some demon attacking you and tempting you. Fight back exactly as Jesus did.

You need to understand that the temptation is not of this world. Yes, you are being tempted by earthly things. However, the real fight lies in the spiritual realm. Take the fight to them. Jesus fought with scripture, the devil fleed, and angels gathered around Him.

When you're tempted. Recognize that the fight is more than earthly. It is a spiritual battle in the unseen realm. Fight with scripture, use your sword. Demons will flee and angels will protect you. That's a promise. Take advantage of it.

Forgive To Be Forgiven - Forgiveness Series Part 4 of 4

Forgive To Be Forgiven - Forgiveness Series Part 4 of 4

You need to forgive to be forgiven. Wait a minute, last week we talked about how God has already forgiven you. Now, you need to forgive in order to be forgiven. That sounds contradictory.

God has forgiven you. Jesus paid the price for your sins. You need to be willing to receive that. In addition, you need to forgive others as Christ forgave you. You need to forgive to be forgiven.

Of course, it isn't up to you to forgive the sin. It is up to you to forgive the sinner. You must let it go. When someone wrongs you, you need to have the mentality that Jesus has.

You need to forgive them immediately and be eagerly waiting for them to come and ask you for what you have already set aside for them. You've reserved forgiveness for them and you are so excited for them to come and get it. When they ask for it, you'll give it to them with great joy. Exactly like how when one sinner accepts Jesus the angels in heaven sing and rejoice.

Forgive Because God Forgave - Forgiveness Series Part 3 of 4

You must forgive because God forgave you. Yes, you have already been forgiven. Jesus died for your sins. His blood has washed your sin away. All you have to do is ask God to allow it to cover you. God is standing there waiting for you to give the word. He's already provided you with the solution. Ask Him.

In addition, because He has already forgiven you. You need to forgive others. You need to have the mentality that God has when it comes to forgiveness. Forgive them before they even ask for it. Then, when they ask, be ready to joyfully give it to them.

Confess Your Sins To God And Each Other - Forgiveness Series Part 2 of 4

Confess Your Sins To God And Each Other - Forgiveness Series Part 2 of 4

You must confess your sins to God. Yes, He already knows you committed them. In addition, He already knew you were going to commit them. Still, you must confess to God and ask that He forgive you for your sins. He will.

You must also confess your sins to each other. I don't mean the people you wrong. I mean your brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes, this may be a little more difficult. It shouldn't be. After all, who here on earth has the power to save, condemn, or forgive sins? No one. Therefore, it should be a lot easier to confess to others.

Even though it may be difficult, you must still confess to your brothers and sisters in Christ. The reason for this is so that they can pray for you and help you overcome your sin.

Only God Can Forgive Sins - Forgiveness Series Part 1 of 4

Only God Can Forgive Sins - Forgiveness Series Part 1 of 4

Today we begin a 4-part sermon series about forgiveness and we'll be talking about how only God can forgive sins. People cannot forgive sins. That is up to God. Yes, you can forgive the person if they sin against you. However, the person must also go to God and seek forgiveness.

This is very important so please make an effort to attend all of the sermons. Forgiveness plays a major part in your life so it is something you MUST understand and practice. Without forgiveness then we cannot be saved from our sin. Therefore, it is so very important that we forgive others as Christ forgave us.

Be Not A Pharisee Hypocritical Whitewashed Tombs

Be Not A Pharisee Hypocritical Whitewashed Tombs

Be Not A Pharisee! That means don't be like the Pharisees that are mentioned in the New Testament. Pharisees were the scholars of the day. They were philosophers, the type of people who liked to sit around and ponder and discuss all kinds of topics but never do anything about them.

They liked to discuss things and then leave it at that. They were men of conversation rather than action. You no doubt know of people like this. Many so-called "intellectuals" of today are like this. They believe they are smarter than others but they really don't understand. They don't see the whole picture.

In short, they are hypocrites. They speak about things and don't do them. They tell others what to do but don't follow their own rules. Perhaps the saying "Do as I say, not as I do" originated with the Pharisees. Don't be like them.

There Is Power In A Name Be Careful How You Use Them

There Is Power In A Name Be Careful How You Use Them

You probably know that there is power in a name. In other words, if you drop someone's name, and other people know that person, then you're likely to get further than if you didn't mention the name at all.

On the other hand, sometimes dropping a name can have the opposite effect. You end up getting stonewalled because the name you dropped is unfavorable to that audience.

Similar to how human names have power, spiritual names have power. Except, they have even more power. Therefore, similar to how you need to be careful when dropping human names, you need to be extra careful when you use spiritual names.

The Blood Of Christ Poured Out For You Understanding Communion Part 2 of 2

The Blood Of Christ Poured Out For You Understanding Communion Part 2 of 2

The blood of Christ was poured out for you. Communion is a lot more than simply an act of remembrance. Yes, we participate in communion to remember that we have been saved by blood. First, the old covenant blood of the Passover, and second, the new covenant blood of Jesus.

The spirit within you hungers and thirsts for righteousness. Christ is righteous. You learned last week that the spirit within you is the Holy Spirit and you must feed it with the body of Christ. In the same way, you must quench its thirst by drinking the blood of Christ.

It may sound a little grotesque, but you MUST satisfy the hunger and thirst of the Holy Spirit within you. You do this by providing it with the body and blood of Christ.
